I've been taking Roxicodone for the past 2 years, and just found out i'm about a month pregnant. Could the Roxicodone hurt my baby, and what other medications are recommended to come off the Roxy's? I've heard either Subutex or Methadone.
There are no adequate and well controlled studies of Roxi's in pregnant women.
Roxi's should never be used during pregnancy only if potential benefits justifies the potential risk to the fetus. This pretty much means that your on your own with this, and if some thing should go wrong with the fetus.... Neonates whose mothers have taken this, chronically may exhibit respiratory depression and/or other withdrawl symptoms, either at birth or in the nursery.

Methodone is a substitute for heroin and other opiates, such as morphine or codeine. It is longer acting than most other opiates and can be taken once a day. Once you are on the correct dosage of methodone, it will stop any withdrawls. This is very important during pregnancy. Methodone maintainance treatement has been demonstrated to significantly improve pregnancy outcome for opiate dependent women.
Methodone DOES NOT increase the risk of congenital abnormalities in newborns.
Methodone should be started as soon as possible after pregnancy has been confirmed. Be sure to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of methodone treatement with your health professional.

Withdrawl from methodone during pregnancy is strongly discouraged due to the risk of miscarraige, pre mature labor and possible fetal death.
