I have been running next to fast paced roads (35-45MPH) for the past three years. My nearby roads do not offer a safety lane nor do we have sidewalks. I run against the traffic with my right foot on the white line at the edge. Often I have people try to make me run off the edge of the road (I guess they want the whole road). Some drivers are very aggressive.
Does anyone know what I can do to protect myself, I do not want to get hit.
I have looked up my laws and aside from the very confusing language it appears that the most anyone can get charged with for striking a human while driving is $50 which seems awfully low but that is what our law makers have reserved.
It would be nice to know what others do to prevent getting hit.

It makes more sense to run against traffic. All too often I see runners/walkers with their headphones on blocking traffic.
