From what I understand it really does sound like you have candida, you have many of the symptoms I have read about repeatedly. The good news it there is a cure and it won't really cost you much money but it will take time and dedication. There are probably basic things wrong with your current lifestyle, if for example you count fruit as part of your healthy balance, you will need to readdress this and all sugar must be removed from the diet. I must stress that this is a temporary measure and you do get to reintroduce these foods later on. Another thing you need to look for is your trigger; this could be a hormonal change (change of pill?), a course of antibiotics, a food intolerance, etc and ensure that has been addressed.

I'm just starting out on the diet myself, have researched loads (couple of years) as I couldn't believe this is the only way but I believe it may be.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

I've had this bloating problem for 3 years now. I would say in the last year and half it has got worse every time i eat i look 6months pregnant, its just awful. The doctors have too fobbed me off sayiing i have IBS but i know it has to be another cause. I've put on weight in the last 2 yearS and my clothes dont fit me anymore because of my stomach and i do not go out socializing because i feel embarrased by the way i look. I've tried doing stomach exercises but i feel exhausted and tired all the time. I've noticed that i do get white discharge too. Would you say this is a bacterial infection for sure?

My doctors are a waste of space i can't go to them for help because they do not want to help or investigate what the cause maybe. I really do not know what to do as this has really affected my self confidence now i JUST feel awful about myself

Kitty,

I know exactly how you feel and I have loads of advice. They won't let me post a link here but go on Wordpress and search for candida and there are loads of blogs about this. Mine is CandidaFree.

After many years of dealing with this & it getting worse...it came down to allery type of trigger for me, I think I have found the culprit..sulfite intolerance, do some googling! I can tolerate some, but if I have wine (prefer white) I look 7 months pregnant! I had to go out & buy maternity jeans after 5 days of insane bloating & not knowing if it was ever going to stop...then, 5 days later, I'm back to my reg size! Talk about sulfites being in everything..tap water can have it! dasani is very high, aquafina is ok..just as a few examples.

I have suffered with painful heavy periods all my life and pain in the left lower abdominal region which I used to manage with regular exercise but which has got much worse in the last 2 years and cripples me for several days each month and I have to go to bed with a hot water bottle.  Sometimes pain does alleviate a bit after bowel movement and may be related to this and perhaps trapped gas as I do seem to be more constipated in the run up to my period and have to ensure I drink a lot more fluids.  Several laparoscopies revealed the bowel wall being attached to my left ovary and ultrasound showing 2 small cysts on the left and some endometrial fluid but nothing that was considered significant to the cause of the pain.  It is possible I have endometriosis but not confirmed and no treatment offered to date other than the contraceptive pill or a coil, both of which I am keen to avoid with their associated risks for the over 40s.  A few years ago I was diagnosed with IBS and I get a lot of cramping on the left side and on palpation feels very tender and hard at times.  1 year ago I injured my back whilst helping my boyfriend lift items out of his loft.  I developed severe sciatica and left groin pain which made me nearly bedridden for one month and I hate to say one year later, though some improvement is sadly still with me and although Lsp scans showed lower disc bulges which I didnt have on previous scan done after I managed to fall down the stairs, I was still told these were not severe enough to explain the pain.  I have a painful lump in my left groin, feels like a marble is stuck in there which the doctor insists is an enlarged lymph node and not a hernia.  I had to stop exercising and started to put on weight as a result.  I then read a tip and lots of reviews advocating that eating 3 tablespoons of coconut oil keeps you slim and cures a whole host of other problems whilst lowering cholesterol.  Even bought a book on it.  Something to do with the size of the fat molecule and its ability to speed up metabolism (gullible).  I started with 3 teaspoons a day as 3 tablespoons of saturated fats seemed a bit excessive.  However, I (perhaps unsurprisingly) rapidly went up a dress size causing only more misery at me being fat on top of persistent searing back/leg pain.  I am only small framed and usually weigh around 8 stone, but was now heading for 10 stone and over and could, not fit into anything I owned.  My boyfriend hated my weight gain or perhaps rather he hated that I was more miserable to be around because of how it made me feel/act and other problems my back pain caused in our relationship and after walking a short distance the pain now makes me limp.  I stopped the coconut oil but with lack of exercise my weight just continued to rise. I just couldn’t stop it nor the unhappiness which came with it.  The abdominal bloating got so severe, I thought my tummy would explode or I'd float off into the sky or something.  So uncomfortable.  Other work stresses took their toll and to top it off, my boyfriend who I adored, left me for a younger, fitter model 3 months ago despite having previously given me a key to move in with him.  And after 2 months is now engaged.  Life deals terrible blows sometimes.  After this I lost weight very rapidly through what I call the 'Stress Diet' (not to be recommended).  But I lost 2 stones in 2 months through not feeling like eating.  Clearly this is not the healthy way to lose weight but one thing that happened almost immediately was that my bloating and extreme fatigue that I had been battling for months disappeared.  It was quite a revelation.  I am still not able to exercise in capacity that I would like as my back pain won't allow it, but I try to do some tummy toning work which has helped flatten my tummy and increase my core strength.  My appetite has thankfully returned but I have been slow to reintroduce too many carbohydrates. (Bread, rice, pasta, cakes, biscuits etc) as having lost weight, I was keen not to pile it all back on as rapidly as I had lost it, and to my absolute glee, I still remain bloated-free.  My energy levels have always varied due to having fibromyalgia, but they too are much better than they would normally be.  It makes me feel so much better in myself.  I still have the back pain and I still have the left sided abdominal pain and cramps and painful periods, which I hope I can get to the bottom of, but so pleased to be free of the bloating.  I feel like a new woman.  So, will be sticking to higher protein-based meals which keep you feeling fuller for longer with carb portions measured to the size of my palm (as is recommended for diabetics – which I am not).  Still allow myself some chocolate but trying to retrain my taste buds to like dark chocolate.  Easier said than done!  But can honestly say since cutting down on the carbs, I rarely have sugar cravings at all.  My only gripe now, is that I still have nothing to wear as all my clothes are now too big!!!!  I can't win.  And I need a new boyfriend who will love me as I am.  I can only hope :)

I would get a sonogram, I had the exact same symptoms and found out after going in and out of the hospital that I had PID as a result of having had sex with a new partner. Do this asap if you haven't already, it's a very serious infection. I'm on round 2 of antibiotics, I hope you don't have it because it's been a nightmare for me. good luck!

I have to agree this is awful, I really understand how u feel I've suffered with a bloated stoumach for probably about two years now I look about 6 months pregnant sometimes, I get tired, stoumach pain, painful irregular periods, reoccurring utis and sometimes the white discharge someone mentioned , I have been tested for STDs and they all came back clear. I was given mebverine for the bloated stoumach but that hasn't worked either. Reading this makes me feel a bit better to know I'm not alone but it's so frustrating.

I have been experiencing bloating for the past 3 months as well, and I honestly believe is from stress. So i've been trying to get a little more active to see if it will go away, and It doesnt. So we all need to try some meditating!
