Anytime my 29 yr old son eats, after the first couple bites, he experiences severe pain (sharp and cutting sensations) in his stomach area and intestines. He is also very bloated but no gas. Had 2 endoscopic tests and the tests with the camera down his throat. The results were normal. Dr feels he has IBS but he feels it is a wrong diagnosis. He suffers with constipation but no gas. Any ideas would be a great help as he is to the point that he doesn't eat for fear of pain! Why such severe pain only after a few bites and what would cause a very thin young man to look like he's pregnant after only a few bites? Thank you!
Hi:
If you haven't already....Get a second opinion, now. It sounds like he has seen the right type of professionals, but something is obviously wrong here. See if you can find a doctor/hospital that has done specialized work with these types of symptoms. Someone out there has the answers for him. A research/teaching hospital is probably your best bet. This might be inconvenient, but you might get your answers that way. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

To me it sounds like it could be IBS. I know that those pains can often be the spasming of the colon, even if there is constipation. There are a million forms of IBS and it's possible that he has one of the many permutations of it. Regardless, it's a good idea to get a second opinion because this sounds like a serious issue. How long has this been going on?
