I have sharp, sometimes burning lower abdominal pains around/below the navel area. There is also occasionally a sharp pain, almost like a tearing or really bad cramping, on either side of the inside of the vaginal canal. It happens randomly, but it has also happened after emptying the bladder. Not during, just. After. Or if I pull in my abdominal muscles. Or even just sitting. So what's up with that?

The burning, sharp pain around the lower abdomen is not a new development, really. It's happened a couple of times now. This other stuff, though. It's new, and it's really bothering me. I'm not even sure if the vaginal pain is entirely new. It might've happened once or twice before. It's just a lot more frequent now.

I've looked at a couple of diagrams, and it doesn't appear to be my ovaries or tubes or anything in that area. It's just, like. The small canal, about two inches up. That's all that's affected. Maybe I pulled a muscle at work or exercising? Some really obscure muscles I didn't even realize I was pulling. But I dunno, because like I said, I think this has happened before. I just put it off as 'upset stomach' or 'wow, that was weird.'

I'm also not sexually active, never have been. So no pregnancy. The first time it was bad enough to catch my attention, it felt like I had been whipped across the lower abdomen and someone stuck something sharp in me. And I thought 'contraction', because that's what a friend described them as once, but of course that's ridiculous.

:/ Any ideas?
Dare I say, never having experienced them, that it sounds a bit like cramps? You do not mention your age, your period, your normal symptoms at that time, which makes me wonder whether you're a young woman entering adolescence. If you're not yet aware of your period, then don't be alarmed if you start finding blood leaking from your body. It is perfectly normal, and the onset of womanhood.

Either way, anything that causes pain that you don't understand, go see a doctor, so - please - go see a doctor!

Oh, I'm sorry. I'm 19. Ha, sorry about that. I guess I was being vague. I'm very familiar with what my period feels like for me, and this is definitely not normal for me. It doesn't seem to be connected to my cycle, as far as I can tell. Thank you, though~

I'm going in for my first gynecologist visit here soon, anyway. Awkward much, but oh well. So I'll hopefully figure out what it is soon enough, and probably mention it here in case anyone else feels something similar.

I have the same problem. I'm 20 years old, a virgin, and I've been experiencing the same shooting pain up my vaginal canal, and sometimes strong fleeting sharp cramps in my ovaries. I know what normal cramps are, and these are not normal cramps. Also I've been getting this occasional light greenish blue discharge. When they first started happening to me, I also though "contractions" but like you said, it's kind of weird to have contractions and not be pregnant... I searched all of the internet and it seems like I might have pelvic inflammatory disease. I have no idea, and I definitely don't want to go to the gyno.. Please let me know what happened with you??

Just out of curiosity, was the problem, a cyst on the ovary? Or Fallopian tube tie in a knot? I experienced the same thing at 16. That's what mine ended up being.

Hi! I am nearly 100% sure you have endometriosis. How are your symptoms now?

I have been having these exact same pains since I was 6, I am now 17, I just woke up, and have excruciating pains. Its always felt like a sharp, burning, line, running from inside my belly button, ALL the way down...I don’t really want to go to the doctors because it comes and goes, and only comes for about an hour every 3 months or so... if anyone has any ideas?? I’d love to read them!
