I don't usually do posts but I am reading yours and will reply.
I just finished the Bernstein diet January 6th, 2015. I have tried every diet out there and nothing seemed to work. I even exercised.
My neighbor did the diet and looked fantastic so thought I would try. Yes I read all the reviews months on end before I choose to do this diet.
Yes there aren't very many positive reviews.
I went ahead and did it anyways. Staff in Whitby are amazing and friendly.
Amazing results.
I lost 25 lbs that I could never shed and felt great. I followed the program and let me tell you its difficult to watch people eat and know you can`t eat like they are. I also exercised daily. I fell short of their goal by .8lbs.
I heard all the negatives at work oh I know people who have done this diet and you will gain all the weight back. So. scared to eat yes I am.
Not on Dr. Bernsteins anymore but I am still following the diet because I am scared to eat. I do cheat once a week and have something not healthy and wine.
Issue right now and I think I sabotaged myself is my hair is falling out and I am worried as it is thinning quickly a lot of hair. I quick taking the vitamins and potassium and should have continued as the body needs those vitamins.
Trying to figure it out quickly.
On Monday as my birthday is on Sunday and I want to indulge a little I am starting a new way of eating. I won`t call it a diet as it isn`t. Its a healthy lifestyle change.
It`s by Tosca Reno -The eating clean diet. Buy the book read it cover to cover and see reviews online what people are saying and maybe try this route before Dr. Bernsteins.
I am eating clean to eat healthy and try and keep this weight off that everybody is waiting for me to gain back. I already had this book but a lady in the waiting room one morning said she did this program and kept the weight off doing The eating clean. She had hurt her back and had been bed ridden so was there to take just the ten she had put on.
Good luck in your decision

It is VERY expensive and there is really no support- only online. There is no group or individual help just monthly Dr appt/meeting about your progress. It is very hard to stay on it, the food gets expensive and I think the shots are colored water, myself.

I am the exact same as you... I had a baby 8 months ago and it's sooo hard to find time to eat meals. I did Bernstein's 2 summer's ago and I LOVED it. It's the only way I've ever been able to lose weight. I chose it because the weight loss guarantee... as long as you follow what they say you can and will lose 20lbs a month. I was just seeing a personal trainer and still eating like c**p. I need to be held accountable... someone to answer to.. so I'm going back to Bernsteins on Tuesday lol I have about 60lbs I need (want) to lose.

Where did you read that it is only 1 or 2 meals a day? I would eat three meals and two snacks and that is normal. Despite all the talk here, this diet worked for me. It showed me what I can and can't eat when I'm trying to lose weight, and showed me what to avoid to keep it off. It was a real eye-opener. It's not just about portion size. I was told I could exercise if I wanted to, and allowed to add an extra portion or protein. The weight comes off fast, which is great incentive and also made exercising easier. And like any diet, the harder part is keeping it off. I guess that part is common sense. If you start eating like before, of course you'll gain it back. duh. For me, the essential part to stay on track was to keep my fridge stocked with all kinds of food I could eat so I never got bored. I would also kind of have a rough meal plan for each week, so I could buy the right food and have satisfying meals. It takes more effort to eat right. In all, I lost 40 lbs in 3 months. I never felt hungry or tired except for the first two days. After that, it was strangely easy. It took a year on my own of focus to not eat irresponsibly, and now it's pretty natural. I do allow deserts, but only if I'm at someone's house, and they made it, and it would be rude not to. Other than that, I don't eat sugar anymore. I eat pretty much as much veges as I want, but keeping in mind some are pretty high in carbs. I eat less beef, more fish and each protein portion is smaller than what I used to eat. I only eat whole grains, and not as much as I used to. My whole way of thinking about food has changed. My family is healthier as a result too. I only did the diet where I had to visit the clinic at the beginning. Now, if I need to lose 5 lbs after Christmas, I do the diet at home for one or two weeks (without injections of course) and I'm good again.

I did the Bernstein diet and here's my review:
Pros: I lost weight (one lb per day)
Cons: 1) They treat everybody (and each body) exactly the same; 2) The optics of certain brands being on the list and not others made me raise an eyebrow (I asked questions, but was told they didn't know any answers); 3) The mandatory doctor's consult was a joke (had not seen my blood tests) and said I looked okay (I assume this is driven by liability concerns); 4) They did not like questions in general; 5) They told me not to exercise during the diet; 6) It took a toll on my emotional health eating so poorly; 6) Hyper low caloric diet is not healthy
So, the weight slowly came back on, but I am now on a much better diet (twice the calories of Dr. B), I can eat almost anything in moderation (had a burger, a couple of beers) and the best part ... it's free! Get yourself a calorie counter app for your smart phone. Be willing to test the limits (you want to eat as much as you can, healthy of course, while still losing weight). One system for every person is not right. I have now lost 20 lbs in 24 days.

To continue from my post right above, I should say, my system will not work for everyone, but that's my point. Everybody and every - body is different.

I am warning all the women out there,
Do not do this diet. It will change the hormones in your body. I am 29 and I got diagnosed with breast cancer 6 months after I did the diet. I was a very healthy woman, no cancer in my family. No one. I was 150 pounds and I lost 20 pounds right away. My mothers friend got diagnosed with breast cancer 9 months after the diet.
Losing weight so fast is not healthy, period. God knows whats in their injection. I went through an absolute hell and therapies for cancer. It is not worth it.
My nutritionist at cancer centre said the diet had played a huge role in me getting cancer.
Do not do this diet. Exercise, eat healthy. I know its not a quick solution but believe me you don't want to get cancer. ITS NOT WORTH IT.

I reluctantly did this diet 5 years ago and would HIGHLY recommend this program. I was weighed everyday and found this to be motivating...just seeing a daily loss even though it was just a few ounces sometimes made me want to continue. My blood test showed that I had a uninery infection that was cleared up in a week, the nurses suggested that I workout while on the program...so I did, my skin looked healthier, I felt amazing and lost 20 pounds. I lost another 15 pounds after leaving the program because I was taught how to eat properly and continued to workout. The doctor was very helpful when I had questions. I was 47 years old, 5'9" 180 lbs and went down to 145 in two months (I was on the program for one month). I recomend this program for people who have tried and failed at weightloss.
