I am doing it now and I am burning keytons however its been a month now and when I lose 5 pounds I gain 4 back then lose 5 gain 4.. after a month of the diet and sticking to it I am down 3 pounds. I am so frustrated and all they have to say is drink more water or use real garlic not minced garlic because of the oil, GIVE ME A BREAK. It is very expensive for something that doesnt work.

Are you following it by the book and not deviating from the plan at all? I started the diet on February 22, in 4 weeks I have lots 20lbs. Try using the recipes the chicken chili is really yummy... and it is very important to drink as much water as possible. My weight has started to slow a bit, they switched me to K Lyte and the doctor told me yesterday to take another 1/2 tab at dinner, apparently if there isn't enough potassium it will low down your fat loss. But if you are following it you shouldn't be gaining weight. The main reason I switched to K Lyte though was because I was getting dizzy spells. Anyway... good luck!

I am now down 30lbs in 6 weeks. If I can make any recommendations, do not do this diet at home on your own. It is medically supervised for a reason. They need to monitor your potassium. For example I was taking the oral pills when first starting the diet, but I was getting dizzy and not feeling well... it was because my body wasn't absorbing the pill form of potassium... I was attributing it to the low calorie intake. The staff at Bernstein increased my potassium intake and gave me a tablet that dissolves in water instead of the pill form and I feel much better. Alterations in you potassium levels can be very dangerous. So if you are doing it at home on your own, please make sure you follow up with your health care provider. Over all the diet isn't really that bad if you are creative with spices and seasonings :) Good Luck everyone!

All you have to do is go into the clinic or call and they will set you up for the initial consult. You'll have to fill out a health history form and sit with the nurse. Once you do that you pay and you're good to go

Well bully for you!!! You sound like you have never had a weight problem..well there are lots of us out there that are fighting genetics..sorry its not in my family to be 110 pounds..my ancestors were large people with large frames..and I am blessed with those genes. However, I am currently on the Bernstein diet..its not easy..but I can't say its too difficult...you eat healthy. and by the way 2 servings of protein is = to 7 oz a day...16 oz of veggies and 2 pieces of fruit a day ie. 2 apples, 2 oranges etc and 2 pieces of bread..now really..does that sound like starvation? If it does then you are eating too much. This diet works its all about healthy eating habits..and yup if you gain..there is an explanation required..but that is part of the reason you don't fail..cause you have the back up...and as for your family members gall bladder...easy to blame the the one thing that's different ...Several people that I know have done this diet and no one has had a gall bladder issue. If anything..I am now insulin free!! and that my friend is thanks to the Dr. Bernstein diet. Glad you are healthy and are blessed with healthy genes...but until you have a weight issue and have to struggle with weight and have tried all the diets out there including weight watchers and nothing works..well then keep your negative uninformed comments out of the blog!!

I did Bernstein twice in Ottawa, Canada. Very happy. Weight melts fast and that gave me the motivation to continue (a recent reliable scientific study has shown that people are more likely to reach their goal and NO more likely to regain the weight if they lose it quickly). The fact that it was so expensive also kept me on track. No way I was going to waste that kind of money!! First 4 or 5 days are tough; but I did not feel hungry after that because of the state of ketosis it induces. It is medically supervised and certainly as safe as being overweight or obese! I lost 35 lb the first time (in a couple of months). I kept it off for about 2 years and then started to cheat a little (off course there is NO MAGIC DIET that continues to work when you don't follow it). Once I had regained app. 15 lb I went back for a few weeks and quickly lost it. I am maintaining now. I have nothing but praise for the Bernstein clinic. I will probably have to go back every couple of years. I am OK with that. I feel that it is a reasonable price to pay to maintain a healthy weight. Go for it but do not expect miracles. There is no miracle weight loss solution but Bernstein has been the closest to that for me. Jo

Dr. B's diet plan has some serious jealth risks for your liver and kidneys. also if you are a resident of Ontario they claim it against OHIP which in turn presents you losing your family MD. I was on the program for a month and it does work as far as pounds dripping off but is something you should discuss with your family md before attempting. I since went on to Herbal One, a completely Canadian company comparable to Herbal Magic for those in the USA. it works great at about two lbs loss per week on average. They have a program right npw that is $88 for 8 weeks plus the cost of your supplements which is about $400 total and not all due at initial sign up. you eat a normal caloric intake based on low fat choices. it is much easier to follow.you are not required to increase exercise but you will find you want to because your energy level goes up.
