All, READ REVIEWS CAREFULLY!!! I didn't and regret it. I was on this program for 3 weeks. I learned a lot in that time. First, the staff were rude, arrogant, and lack any knowledge of nutrition or diet. Once, I was given a lecture not to eat carrots again. When asked why, I was told not on program. When I ask what is wrong with carrots. I was rudely told, not on the program list. Then, I was told not to eat a pear. I asked why. Not of the list was the rude answer. Again, no real information given.

Then, there is the so-called testing. Sure, a blood test makes sense to begin. I'll give you that. Then, there is the urine testing each time for Ketones. Supposedly, this tells them your losing weight. My doctor and internet search says it ain't that simple. Ketones only indicate your body is processing protein and fat to make glucose. It could be from what you eat or your own body. A urine test can't tell you which. So, this testing really doesn't tell if you losing weight or not. And then the straw that broke the camel's back, the XRAY. They demand that you have a set of chest x-rays. For what I asked. The answer was part of program. Really, an x-ray for fun??? They demanded, I said no, so they terminated my program. Sure, a few days later, they changed their mind. But the damage was done. I'd never go back now. They treat you like c**p then beg you to come back. Stupid.

Another scam, They say Dr. B. requests these tests at a lab or diagnostic place. Really? Dr. B. is not licensed to practice in Alberta. He can't order jack sh*t here. So, they use a proxy. Nice chap. A retired doctor who consults. When, we chatted, he didn't seem to care about the blood test or x-ray. His name was just used by the clinic to order these shams.

The vitamin shots. I went online and asked my doctor, I find that B vitamins have not been found as an aid to weight loss. The Mayo Clinic posted research on this. They are not harmful but not really a benefit either. Another, part of the Dr. B. marketing to make the program sound scientific.

The staff was unpleasant, rude and arrogant. First, they have no knowledge of what they are doing beyond THE LIST. Can't answer basic questions. They are there just because the law says you need to be at least a LPN to give shots. That is their only function.

I would not recommend this program. It is too expensive and unrealistic. If you want to try, just buy their list/cookbook and do it on your own. Drug store vitamins and the book is all there is to this program.

Let me tell you my experience with Dr. BS. I was with them for several weeks. It started with their introductory 'consult'. The consult was between 30 and 45 minutes. The first 2/3 was dedicated to selling you a plan. The 'nurse' described various payment methods, schedules and options. Basically, a marketing presentation. Then, they got to their plan. It is a cookbook with a list of 'approved' things to eat. Then, a set of recipes to cook the approved items. Really, you could just buy this book or any 1980's fad diet book. It is the same ideas.

So...at the start they request you take a long list of blood tests and an x-ray. Blood tests sort of make sense. The X-ray never did. When I asked staff, including the franchise manager, nobody could explain what the x-ray was for. Then, each time you go in, they do a urine test and give you vitamins.

So, after a couple weeks, I decided to research further these tests and shots. I could not find any reliable source to support the claims. This made me suspicious of the whole plan......

So, after about 3 weeks, they demanded the x-ray. For what, I asked. No answer was provided. So, I said no. The manager then said I was expelled from the program. Really? I was paid up for 8 weeks. Fine, I said, if that is your attitude. Several days later, I received a call back saying they changed their mind. I could finish the 8 weeks. Guess the x-ray wasn't so important......

Further, I re-read reviews posted online. Positive posts had a common thread. People early in the program who saw early results. Critics were people who were in the plan for awhile and saw the long term results. I will not tell you my conclusions, read for yourselves with my comments in mind.

I think my experience speaks for itself.......

I'm doing Dr. B for a second time. I can't do Weight Watchers I find it too slow and too much tracking and point figuring out. I weighed 230 pounds before the diet, I'm into my 4th week and am now at 210 pounds. My plan is to get to 200 pounds and lose the last 10 on my own to get to 190 pounds. I lost 40 pounds the first time i went on Dr B and kept it off for a long time until an injury that kept me from exercising. After the first week things get a lot easier and you don't feel hungry. I will get to my goal weight of 200 and then keep my exercising program going and will get to 190.

Don't use this diet without your doctor's approval. Excess potassium will shut down your kidneys if they are at all weak. Gall bladders have been lost on this diet. Livers have been destroyed. I am not saying don't go on it. Just be careful and use it with your doctor's supervision and approval.

you speak the truth. Two doctors, after I started, warned me of this diet and the possible longterm health issues with it. Guess that is why they pretend that it is medically supervised.

so does starvation.......Dr B. is a recycled 1980s fad diet. No doctor I talked too, after I signed up, would approve of this starvation diet. If your careful, you might lose your goal safely. Issue is it that it teaches you nothing to keep it off long term. That is where numerous post point out the folly of this fad starvation diet. Steady, well planned, well trained weight lose is the best method or plan.

I lost 50 lbs on this diet. You lose weight because you are starving your body. Once you go off the diet, all the weight comes back. It's not sustainable for the long term, it's an expensive form of starvation.

How are you doing now..I am about the same as you and am going to start Niov 4

Yes, it does work quite well actually. The problem is when you lose the weight and you are on maintenance for while then decide to stop, you will gain it all back unless you do something about it. You have to get muscle. So you have to commit to a gym and workout 4 days a week. You can endulge a little but if it adds 5 lbs back you have to go back to really watching what you are eating. You can't just say. "its only 2 lbs, that's no big deal" because two lbs goes to 10 then 15 then 30 and you are back at square one.

You made the point of those who call Dr. B. a scam. It is not a plan to teach you to be healthy and stay that way. It is a scam/fad diet based on starving and not learning health. A joke really......many medical people I spoke and read state this. Quick fix with no long term plan.
