My husband's family has several cases huntington's disease. Some of his relatives with huntington's disease don't seem to have many problems with the disease at all and live normal and healthy lives, whereas another one is in a wheelchair and affected mentally as well. How do you know what the side effects of huntington's disease will be? Obviously it is not the same for every patient?
The symptoms of huntington's disease do vary a lot, but one of the main characteristics of huntington's disease is that the disease is progressive. In other words, a patient who is currently fully functional might have severely deteriorated by next year. The way in which the symptoms progress is largely dependant on the age during which the first symptoms surface as well.
