I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing ongoing pain and distress after your hemorrhoidectomy. It can be frustrating and disheartening when you're not finding relief from your symptoms.

Here are a few steps you could consider:

  1. Communication with your surgeon: If you feel that your concerns were not adequately addressed during your recent visit, it may be helpful to schedule another appointment to have a more thorough discussion with your surgeon. Be open about your ongoing pain, the presence of anal skin tags, and the possibility of an anal fissure. Ask for a more detailed explanation of the surgeon's assessment and their reasoning for prescribing pain control drugs without addressing your specific concerns. Clear communication can help ensure that your surgeon fully understands your symptoms and can provide appropriate guidance.

  2. Seek a second opinion: If you remain dissatisfied with the response or treatment plan provided by your current surgeon, it might be beneficial to consult with another healthcare professional for a second opinion. A different perspective from another specialist, such as a colorectal surgeon or a gastroenterologist, may provide you with additional insights or alternative treatment options.

  3. Pain management: In the meantime, while you explore further medical options, it's important to focus on managing your pain and discomfort. Follow your surgeon's prescribed pain control drugs as directed, and consider other pain management techniques, such as warm sitz baths, applying a topical numbing cream, using over-the-counter pain relievers (if appropriate), and maintaining proper hygiene in the anal area.

  4. Emotional support: Dealing with ongoing pain and stress can be emotionally challenging. It's essential to reach out to a support system of friends, family, or a mental health professional who can offer emotional support and help you cope with your feelings of depression and stress. They can provide guidance, strategies, and a listening ear during this difficult time.
