I too have suffered this fate for years. So happy to hear that others know how I feel. I've been mortified to even speak to people without gum in my mouth. These things smell like manure and I really can't take it anymore. I'm 31 and I really want my tonsils removed because of this. I just push in the side and the death pellets come pouring out. I have to say i have been getting these for years, its the most annoying thing to have, and they taste fowl. they tend to come at the inopportune time, and when i am having a conversation with someone and a bit comes out i gag because i know what it is and knowing the first time i sniffed it in inspection and almost blew chunks, the memory comes back.
I tend to bleed afterwards too, its only my right side not my left, i have never had any issues with the left side. i am not sure if i should have the doctor check it out or not, because when it comes out, its usually huge. and i don't i usually do a milking like thing when i feel something i rub my fingers up and down around the sore spot on my neck and suck gently and it usually comes out with a c**p load of blood, swollen for a couple of days, then all is right. Usually once or twice a month this occurs.
Anyways, i hope that helps someone out there who is scared of what these foul pebbles are. :-)

I noticed my first tonsil stone about four maybe five years ago. Honestly, I had no idea what it was. At first I thought it was popcorn kernals getting stuck on my tonsils...it felt exactly the same. The first one I ever spotted was a big white spot in the middle of my left tonsil and, like I just said, I thought it was a piece of popcorn. I did eventually figure out how to "pop" them loose so I could spit them out. I could always tell when I got one because it would poke out of my tonsil just enough to rub against my tongue. I finally learned what they are about a year ago. The funny thing is I don't seem to get the big ones anymore. I go from several days to weeks or even months between the times they're bad (which isn't anything like it was). Now they're really small most of the time and alot harder to get out. The bad news is they're still there and one of my tonsils, the one that had the biggest stones, doesn't look the same anymore. It looks like some tissue from behind has drop into the pocket the stones would come out of. Sometimes when I swallow I feel a hard lump inside the tonsil and I wonder if there's a tonsil stone getting bigger and harder on the inside.
FYI, I've had unusually large tonsils for years (most likely the result of a long line of childhood sore throats and untreated, unknown tonsil ailments). My last doctor asked if I wanted them removed. She was afraid if I got a bad cold or sore throat they would obstruct my breathing. I'm seriously considering asking my next doctor about removing them.

I have had them for over a year and at times they are very easy to remove with a q-tip I notice them more when I drink milk. I am also mildly lactose intolerent. Just today when I woke up I hap one and then a couple hours later I had another.

The very best way to get rid of these “chunks” is to get a small syringe (no needle) called a Monoject, try your dentist. Fill it with water, and flush the “chunks” out.

i think they're allergy related cause i lived in san francisco tha first 16 years of my life and never once got them, then when i moved to sacramento where theres alot of open fields and trees i started getting them, and i still get them to this day...

I'm 16 and I get these too. During the he past year or 3 I've noticed an increased frequency in the appearance of them. I had a monster sneeze earlier today and a huge chunk flew right out! Before the sneeze, I couldn't even see anything back there but I guess the lil sucker was hiding deep inside. I too am glad I'm not the only one with this problem. :-)

Pro-Health mouth wash by Crest is the only thing that works. It is a powerful rinse that seems to last all day long. After I started using it those suckers started falling off, first big ones and then just tiny ones on occasion. I don't have them now.... that I know of.

I have found that if I press my finger on my tonsils, right in front of the hole, I can usually pop the little chunks out. The best place to press is on the flap of skin that partly covers your tonsils (on either side of your uvula). The pressure of my finger on the flap of skin exposes the hole with the white chunks and if I simulate swallowing, I can sort of work the chunks out of the hole and pop them out with my finger nail. Ive been plagued with this god awful smelling goiter chunks in the back of my mouth. i had them when i was younger then they went away for a few years, but now there back again. it gives me some pretty bad dumpster breath and im quite sick of it. how much does it cost do have your tonsils removed anywho?

I had those very abundantly in the begging of 2007 and continued to have them about half way through the year. they were quite annoying because (as mentioned before) the smell horrible and the feeling of them in the back of the throat is enough to make me gouge my throat out. Not to mention the taste and the feeling of wondering "did my breath smell all day?" after you take one out. About halfway through the year nearing 2008 i had strep thoat and was given antibiotics tht screwed me up bc i was allergic to them (thnx doc >;) ). Anyway, they fixed my throat and i hadnt had a nesty lumpy thing (for lack of a better word) since then. Until i woke up this morning. I had another one and it was quite nasty. my nose is running becasue i have a cold and am wondering if maybe the snot from my cold is running down my throat and getting trapped, and that is how these are coming to be.
