Thanks ill wait till I c my doctor..cause I can't eat..or wait 9 days..you really help me out..I thought.my life was over.
Please do.I just had surgery on the 9of this month..but ill wait a week..just to be safe..
Had total thyroidectomy yesterday (3/3/16) woke up with extreme thirst and also had a moment where my face and hands locked up (scary sh*t) My advice to anyone DONT SMOKE WEED/ANYTHING AT LEAST A WEEK+ BEFORE SURGERY (if you can't do a week at LEAST 2 days).. I smoked 6pm the night before surgery and I regret it because after surgery YOU WILL HAVE MUCUS BUILD UP IN YOUR LUNGS (if you smoke blunts even more so) and it is very hard to cough up when u don't have total muscle controls due to swelling.. Gonna try and take my first bong rip now (3/4/16) in hopes of helping me sleep (percocets don't help) and I have PTSD so I have anxiety factored into it.. If you have PTSD, smoke weed and need a total thyroidectomy, cut back smoking because the thirst after surgery+anxiety of wanting to cough up mucus/drink will make you lock up and/or have a anxiety attack. Thanks be to God that I was able to speak almost perfectly normal after surgery but my recommendation is
1.stop smoking for a week and try and clear all mucus from ur lungs prior to surgery
2.after surgery try and get some water
3. Immediately after water try and get soup with saltine crackers and soak the cracker in soup and eat them (will help a lot with nasuea), WASH DOWN WITH WATER
4. Cough up what u can
5.rest

Can I smoke weed after my thyroid goiter was removed six days ago
Hello, I just had a thyroidectomy with a lateral lymph node dissection. hmm 3 days ago...I found out on Thursday and had the operation on that following Tuesday. I also smoke weed, every night (more of a spliff, so its mixed with tobacco). I smoked the night before my surgery and i was completely fine. I didn't even have a calcium deficiency, which is linked to your Parathyroid. Your parathyroid can be damaged while having surgery which effects your calcium...so it may have been your surgery that actually bruised or damaged your parathyroid (sits behind your thyroid) which in turn affected you and not the weed itself. I also smoked last night which was only 2 days after surgery and had no side effects other than at least not feeling nauseated for a bit a time. I do wonder if using a vaporiser is the smarter option since smoke is not good for lungs which thyroid cancer can spread to your lungs...does anyone have any advice on if weed will effect the meds we are on or if it will help with symptoms?

Your muscles locked up because of your thyroid issue and calcium depletions (your thyroid robs calcium when it is sick). I had the same thing - I looked like I had polio, was in a wheelchair for a while. Literally hours after surgery, my joints were back to normal. It is not an uncommon side effect of thyroid problems and nothing to do with weed
I smoked the morning of my surgery with no problems
Thanks I am looking also you are the first I found, so I have a thyroidectemy on jan 13 and I am worried forgot to ask the doc so that gives me an idea,Thank yoi and happy hollydays
My surgery was 2/21/2017 and I smoke a little bit the night before but I drank 2 1/2 gallons of Water and missed like a race horse now I'm home I was wondering can I smoke.
Thank you for your reply I have looked a million places trying to find this out. I don't want to hurt myself anymore than I have, but it is hard not to smoke. I have smoked everyday for a long time to deal with everything I have been through It helps with my anxiety and all of that. Did it end up hurting you at all smoking?
I'd guess you'd call me a pot head smoke weed daily before bed sometimes during the days if im done with work and the gym. I smoked a few days before my thyroid surgery and take it from me, you don't want to make it harder on yourself in terms of swelling and swallowing. If you smoke up until the surgery you'll have a lot of flem in the back of your throat and with a near useless neck good luck clearing it out.
eat edible MEDICINE
