Hi I had a total hip replacement on my right hip March 7th now I have a golf sized hematoma under the incision I have several others but they are the size of peas. My doctor said it needs more time and doesn't seem concerned I am having sharp pains where the hematoma is and the tissue around it is somewhat numb sometimes and other times it's throbbing I also have pain going down the side of my leg into my calf which started a few days back I have tried walking I have tried taking Aleve several times a day my next appointment isn't for another 3 months is it normal for this type of pain coming from the hematoma and is it okay to wait to see the doctor the hip is not bothering me I have movements and everything the pain is coming from the hematoma itself any help will be appreciated

I have had both hips replaced and hematoma after each surgery. The 1st was sore and irritating but the 2nd has been very painful particulary at night. I ended up going back to the hospital because of the pain and they doped me up ridiculously for a couple of days. Did not asperate the hemotoma because of concern with infection. Since they were doing nothing to address the hemotoma in hospital I went home and still had a lot of pain particularly at night, A STEP TOWARD SOLUTION HAS BEEN LYMPH NODE MANUAL DRAINAGE. My wife's massage therapist came over and did LYMPH node drainage. 1st day helped quo the a but but it's not a one time and done thing. It's is helping significantly daily. Finding a massage therapist that knows what they are doing for the lymph node drainage is the challenge. Strongly recommend it if you are having this type problem!
