I've had a sore throat for 6 weeks, wake up every morning with it sometimes coughing and little sniffly can bring up phlegm at times and its only one side but has switched and has come on thru the alsobut not as often.....1st dr prescribed antibitics for infection (no releif) 2nd dr more tablets and a nasal spray for sinus infection (no relief) 3 rd dr cant see anything visible maybe need a scan..Back to my usual GP he cant see anything visible either maybe sleep apnea.I'm now waiting for results of that test.

im goin threw the same thing....and they diagnosed me with Mono...and that was last year and the pain is still there...but it starts with my collarbone area...than up to my neck and throat....i had blood work done but nothing like cancer or nothin came back and i can feel it in my lymph nodes as well...sometimes i will get throbbing pains that shoot everywhere....im sick of goin to dr to dr and gettin no answers....and the hospital aint hellpin out either....sometimes i feel like there is something flappy moving in my throat and it gags me ...and sometimes it goes away.. very frustrating and scary as well

I have been having the same feeling behind my tongue on the left upper side of my throat. it is not very bad when swallowing liquids but is for foods. my mother has a cold and has been feeling the same thing then about a week later I felt the same soreness in my throat. she had been sneezed on by a baby on a plane recently. could her cold like symptoms have anything to do with it? also I have a congested sinus system currently and a runny nose.

OMG :O that's the same with me! The right side of my throat hurts and the right side of my ear hurts when I swallow! I thought I just had a sore throat but you guys got me worried. :/

I have a feeling that the right side of my throat is swollen and the skin burns a little but I don't seem to have inflamed glands. How inflamed would they be? All I can feel in the region feels like skin, bone or muscle. I don't look swollen but it feels so. Should I be able to see?

Well I had this problem last year and it may be an abscess. You might have to get it surgically removed by them cutting it open and sucking the pus out :/

I have asthma since about 1987 but didn't realize it until 5 years later with an attack. Also have had post nasal drip since I was young but it may be minimal now. My husband has had cold and just being in the same house has caused me to get a sore throat on the left side. I started reading posts on-line. And I gargled with warm water and salt a couple of times. I also inhaled essential oils dropped into a facial spa adding water to it. I also sprayed fluticasone nasal spray in my nose. I feel better after a little cough drop but my nose is not totally happy. I hope I can sneeze whatever is down the left side of my throat or blow it out of my nose. Something came out but I don't have enough mucous to be age to blow. Good Luck :D

I've had this constantly for the past 2 years. When you had the puss drained did it ever come back? I'm desperate for a longterm solution. It has severely affected my singing and even made it more difficult to talk. Would having my tonsils out help?

I had this too the ENT had to drain it, 2 syringe of puss came out and they gave me antibiotics it went away that was bout 6 months ago but now I think it's coming back and it really hurts and it's on the same side (left) as the absess do u think it could be caused by mono?

Antibiotics can only kill bacteria, they can slow down the viruses duplication speed, but cannot kill it. Doctors can give you stimulants for your symptoms to help them but they aren't given out to actually kill the mono virus. So yes, you probably felt better because the medicine they gave you helped with your symptoms.

I HAD mono November through January. I when and got the blood tests, I never had a sore throat, but at least 7 or 8 lymph nodes swelled up.and they have remained that way for the past 6 or 7 months. I woke up a few days ago and the right side of my throat right where the tonsil is hurts like non other. It feels like it has a marble or something in it, and it radiates throught the side of my tongue and down the side of my throat. Mono relaps, even thought that rarely happens...
