My daughter was put on a predisone 60mg and taper 10 mg per day by a doctor at Martha Jefferson Hospital where we admitted her for the most severe pain in her urethra which was burning and felt like a knife. In two day the pain was gone after months of suffering and lots of doctors and testing. Can't explain it but, it's a miracle .... I hope it can help you too.....God Bless

I noticed that that the majority of the posts with this problem are women. I am a 23 year old man and have been having similar problems especially after urinating and for sometime after so much so that if I get up in the night to use the bathroom it takes an hour or more for the pain to stop so I can go back to sleep. If anyone knows what's going on I would love to find an answer
I am 17 years old. I am having these same exact symptoms. i went to the doctor about 3 days ago and they took a pee test and said no bladder infection and i dont have cystitis. I have no clue whats going on. I have to constantly pee, it doesnt burn when i do but my bladder feels like its on fire until i pee. and then i have to go again right after, this has been happening on and off for months now and its so irritating, ive tried cranberry juice and it helps a bit. and it hurtts soooo bad whenever i have sex. I looked up something called Interstitial Cystitis. i have all the symptoms of it but it says it takes years for doctors to come up with the right diagnosis for that so i dont know bout all that but someone please give me some advice. im at my senior year in highschool and i missed half my year last year cuz of this and i reallly neeed to focus this year. school is in a week so i need to figure this out like now! please help.
For the tea tree oil, you need to dilute it. A small cup of water with a drop of tea tree oil. I typed in urethral pain with no infection on this web site and it came with a bunch of other people with the same problem. I had a cystoscopy week ago and they couldnt find anything wrong. So I am g oing to try some of the things they suggested.

omg i'm so glad i found this site coz these r the exact same symptoms i've been experiencing for the last 6 months! i'm only 18 and going on a gap year and i don't want this problem to continue. It started when i got systitus and the results showed up so i took anti biotics which helped a bit but didnt clear it up and since then everytime i need to wee my bladder is on fire. I get random shooting pains that only last a few seconds but never disppear and i don't know exactly whereabouts the pain is coming from co it seems to switch from vagina to bladder to uretha! Sex is extrutiating and i've been put on more anti biotics than i can coun t. They do help a bit but never clear it up completely and as soon as i stop taking them it just returns the same pain as normal. HELP PLEASE!!!!
To the 17 year old girl in high school. I think I have IC also but my dr. says no, but doesnt know whats wrong. So I started cutting out caffeine, spicey foods, and anything acidic. If you read on the box of stuff and if it says citrus acid stay away from it. Its a killer, because just about every thing has it. I dont totally give up on the stuff, I just take a very small amount. I like cyrstal light and it has citric acid and so i cut that out, and i hate plain water. Also take a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in water in the moring and evening. Just not to much or you will be in the bathroom alot. At first just try cutting out the caffeine and spicey foods and see what happens, but also do the baking soda, It has helped me. If I do eat the wrong thing I will do the baking soda right away. Hope this helps

Sure glad i read your post because i had bought tea tree oil to try also but was very reluctant to use it because i thought it would burn..YIKES! I also took D Manose at one time, but not certain if it really helped or not? Ive been diagnosed with IC for the past 8 yrs now but it was in remission for the past 3-4 yrs. Unfortunately it seems to have revealed its wicked lil self again in the past week. Im actually looking for adice just like you. I live in IN and i hear there is a good Hospital in Louisville KY who deals with this now. 9 yrs ago when i first came down with this...it took a good year to find any doctor who could even tell me what was wrong with me. But i was never prescribed anything but Elmiron which takes min 6 months to work if it ever works & made my hair fall out. Im lost as to what to do also.... not glad that there are other people out there suffering just like me, but so glad i have other people to talk to to know im not crazy!
I have been diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis, Vaginismus, Vulvar Vestibulodynia, and Urethal Syndrome....ALLLLLLL c**p! The pain started in 2006 as soon as I started taking birth control. I asked my doctors everytime if it could be birth control and I was ASSURED it was not related. A million UAs, 4 ultrasounds, and 1 cystoscopy later, I switched insurance companies and started going to Group Health. At that point it had been 2 years with nonstop burning and urgency. About a year after joining GH and seeing multiple doctors and who knows how many pelvic exams, I began listening to Loveline. A girl called in with the EXACT same issue and Dr. AMAZING Drew told her it can be her birth control. I googled my heart out and found tons of resources regarding the effect of estrogen on our bladders. I immediately schedule an appt. with my uro-gyn and told him what I'd heard which he said was unlikely but I was adamant and he went to his office, looked it up, and came back with the best news I'd heard in a long time...I was right. I stopped taking my birth control and the next day there was relief. I've been trying several birth controls now with the same effect. In July of this year I switched to NorQd which is a mini pill which has no estrogen in it. Up until a few weeks ago, everything was great but then I added sex finally and it was unbearable. I know sex just adds to the problem but there maybe wouldn't be a problem if you stopped using hormonal contraceptives. It's worth a shot. I'd rather have 3 periods a month off birth control than deal with this fire between my legs. I've also used Aquafor all over the area and it's comforting. I hope my experience can help someone. BIRTH CONTROL IS THE DEVIL!

:-( am in pain as we'll everytime i feel like i ahve to pea i go sit and it comes out so fast but very little sometimes and at he very end it's when i feel a throabing pain. so intensafying when i wipe my self and ready to put my pants on i sit down fast cause it feels like i'm bout to pee again and nothing comes out but just throabing pain it crazy cause the smeel of the pee is so strong and stinks like when the pee has been sitting for days in a bucket and its so freaken bad the odor i been like that for 3 weeks now its calm down some it dont stink as bad like befor and it dont hurt as much... what can that be?it felt like if a kiddney stone was coming out of my pee hole is that crazy?
