About two months later, I had to have a root canal. Again, they gave me loratab for the pain. I took one and had an attack!!
I totally think we are on to something. Another poster said Codeine did it. I know one thing, I will never take another loratab as long as I live. I hate that stuff anyway, it makes my stomach roll.
I am 21, and had my gallbladder remove last january. I have had little problem, until now. I am having attacks again. They are not nearly as bad as they were before; however they are bad enough that I had to take off work one day because of the pain. Just as it has been mentioned, as soon as I left it got better :/ It would be great to find out what causes these symptoms. I find that when I eat little, I have the attacks more often, then when I do eat. Anyone have a similar situation??

Lying on my left side with a pillow under my ribs to kind of "arch off " of the painful area seems to make the attack less deadly feeling.
Toward the end, lately I have gone to make my self throw up and surprisingly had lots of stuff in my stomach even if I haven't eaten recently. That baffles me but it almost instantly provides relief for me.
We have stopped calling 911 because it always subsides as soon as they get here and it's embarrassing.
A paramedic told me that your liver can become overwhelmed if you eat fatty foods and can trigger an attack that feels the same as gallstones. I just don't know how to avoid fats altogether.
For the record, I am 27, female, 5 ft., 100 lbs, athletic and white. Oh and I also found out that after having a child this can really increase because of increased estrogen levels. I was hoping I could get this under control so I could have another baby soon but I guess that's off now :(
Sorry for the rambling
I am one week after gallblader removal, I feel cannpt breathing since I was wake up after surgery ! It is possible be an side effect of anesthesy ? I had attacks almost daily since then ! The right side , in special after taking Azitromicyn pills or any other medication ! I lose 4 kg , the last 2 kg in only the week after surgery . I am afraid to eat as I am feel worse after eat.. I tought will be free of pain after this surgery, but.. I am disappointed ! The single thing that it work for me and I post for you too, it is JASMINE TEA ! the Chinese tea . I drink in the attack time and in some seconds the attack get less and is gone and then I also can breathing as normal ! I used it in ther attacks from before of surgery , it was help me but not at all then. My gallblader fuction was less much than normal , this was why I was doing this surgery.. No stones, but it was not working at all and gave me pancreatitis ... Now I will try to eat a special diet, almost absent in fat food .. And I will drink this Jasmine tea which helps more than a killpain pill ! Hope it will working for you too. Jasmine tea is a combination of two tea, green tea and yasomny (sorry if not write right) . Grean tea alone it may helps also. Make it more concentrate in a glass of warm water and drink it when attack it start , also at middle or big pains for me it working wonderful !
Wish you all good health !
Allison
I am now after 12 days after surgery. The single thing I have bad now is bloating, I eat something and I feel too much air in my abdomen , stomach.. No pain anymore today and yesterday in the right side, but I keep a diet now , I only eat yogurt, potatous , bread ( no fresh bread!) . Also dietetic yogurt... I don't know till when I can eat only this food.. today I tried pizza , no pain after it, but too much air instantly after eat.. I am look like a pregnant woman in 4 months or more now in evening .. I take some pills for this air callef Carbocit ( not sure the english name) , and also still take some Omeprazole 1 per day or 2 per day for gastric acid. In rest, I have no diareea, no nausea at all. I hope I will be a lucky case... and hope everyone will be lucky here with this problem... I hope, but I don't know how to deal with this air from my stomach after every meal.. I tried enzimes, not help, I tried many pills for this, some of them give me more pain than without them and I didn't take them anymore. I try to think positive.. I have only 12 days since surgery, maybe is too early to see many others symptoms, but I hope there would not appear others..
I suggest you start a special diet , without any oil, fat meat , everything just boiled and as natural as you can make them, without condiments and the yogurt to not be absent from your diet because it contain some enzimes that it help the pancreas. But remember, dietetic yogurt ( 0,01 % fat) . Keep in touch if you like contact me by yahoo at aylin.zhang and talk more .
I had my GB out in 1999. I had an attack after it was removed and scans gave me the all clear. My gp told me a story about his friend's wife having the same problem and they came to the conclusion taht she was alergic to codeine. I was so worried that I would have to live with this horrible pain again I decided to steer clear of codeine and the attacks stopped. There have been a few times that I have taken pills to help reduce temperatures and haven't read the side of the box and I have had the attacks, so I now make sure that I don't take any codeine. A month ago I took gastrostop (you can imagine how I was feeling, couldn't decide whihc end to put on the toilet), I read the ingredients and didn't see codeine. Unfortunately I had an attack.
I did some research and found this comment about "loperamide" which gastrostop contains. "In man, as a constipating agent, loperamide on a mg to mg basis is about 3 times more potent than diphenoxylate hydrochloride and 25 times more potent than codeine phosphate."
I won't be touching loperamide again!!

I'm glad I'm not losing my mind.....I had my gallbladder removed in 2000, because of the horrible pains that would last 3-5 minutes, at any given time of the day. It didn't matter if I had just eaten or if I was sound asleep. The pains never stopped after the surgery....I had my apendix removed in 2005 after an ER visit, and some tests. And now, here it is 2012, and I'm still having the same attacks. I can tell when its going to start, so I will go somewhere where I can't be seen. It probably looks pretty bad to see me buckeld over, panting to breathe, sweating, getting dizzy, and feeling as though I have to vomit. I won't go the the ER because by the time I get there it has stopped....and I don't want to seem "nuts". The area right below my rib cage will remain sore for days. Almost as if I was hit in that area. This is crazy....
