Hello, well you might consider some natural remedies for your problem. I have heard about the effects of Sage so many times. Its basically a plant but its suppose to be very healthy for mouth and throat. I have been eating it fresh and it is amazing. I have it planted in my back yard so what i do every day is go up to it and pick one leaf off and chew it like that. But the trick is not to actually swallow it right away but to chew it and slowly let it down your throat. It helps with all problems regarding mouth and throat. Other than eating it fresh you can make yourself tea from it. I assume you can buy it somewhere in dry form. And you do the same thing, drink tea, keep it in your mouth and slowly let down your throat. There are many version of how this plant can be used. It wont hurt you if you try some. It helped me. Again the name is Sage and latin name is Salvia officinalis.

Elise, do you get a stuffy nose or sinus problems in association with this throat problem? And is the mucus thin or thick?

yes I have some type of hard to treat fungal infection, I have thick clear to white sticky, sometimes clumpy or stringy nasal drip ( since Dec. 2009 ) I also noticed my skin becoming more and more oily with a different weird scalpy smell from the oils on my face & head. Also i'm always extremly tired. my doc gave me an anti-fungal for 7 days, I instantly felt better, but once off it slowly came back

Then you should talk to your doctor about more effective medication or about alternatives of there are any. I mean there must be a way to cure this thing you have hopefully. What did the doctor say you have?

Yes I do have some issues with sinuses. but the mucus does not drip out of my nostrils, it seems to run down my throat and then down to my bronchial area and also I cough it up from, it seems, my bronchial area/chest. I do have a pressure in my head so it could be sinus issues also or a combination of sinus and bronchial. Nothing I try seems to be working. I do use MSM organic sulfur crystals twice a day in water and this helps somewhat..

 

Mucus dripping down the throat is better known as post-nasal drip. Sometimes can be so serious that it requires the use of antibiotics but it generally helps to flash this down with water and to cut down on dairy products, gluten, sugar and alcohol.

I have the same thing, excessive mucous that is thick like glue. I have been to my Doctor, two ENT's, Dentist, Gastro Doctor and No one can help me. Did you ever receive a cure for your problem? Please let me know. I am getting desperate because my thick saliva is a 24 hour a day problem. Thank You in advance for any suggestions that you may have for me.

pls am passing through exactly the same problem with elise88, i went for a throat swab and the result came out STREPTOCOCCOUS SPP and was recommended grazone ceftriazone, i took the IV for seven days and the problem subsided but didnt go completely.it later came back more severe and dis time with bloody TIp UVULA and a tiny lump/bump near Uvula, white tongue,Non itch rashes and eczema, muscles and joint pains headache. I hv gone for HIV test for 3 consecutive months, infact i have gone for hiv test for 5 different times and all were negatives for type 1and 2. I later started taking penicilin tablets cos i insinuated Syhilis and the drugs helped but it didnt eradicate the disease completely. Now am taking fluconazole, cephalexin and doxycycline concomitantly and they are pretty helping, pls has anyone got a glue on hw i can get rid of dis completely? pls help u can inbox me. tnx

I also have this problem, have had it for two years or more and it's getting worse. I also have post nasal drip, which I think is linked. My dentist and my doctor cannot come up with anything useful, When I described the symptoms to my doctor he looked at me as though I had a screw loose. It is so depressing to be dealing with this on a daily basis. I cannot find a useful solution. My doctor prescribed an artificial saliva spray because he though I was suffering from a dry mouth. Useless! What to do??

MY problem is similar to this. i have had it for as long as  i remember. im 20 now and when basically i eat anything i get this super sticky yellow mucus that basically closes my throat!! i can still breath but if i eat anything or drink i cant swallow it. i feel like its stuck in my neck. usually i can use water to FORCE the mucus down. But today no matter what i do i cant force and have to puke it out! been in the bathroom for the last 30 min hoping it goes away.. im also producing alot of saliva or i would just go to bed!! i dont have insurance and pretty sure this would cost money which i dont have. well hopefully it doesnt kill me even though sometimes like today i think i die......but yea i can still feel the mucus in the throat oo well going to keep drinking puking till it goes away or something.........

So yea i was gona do or die..........took a mouthfull of water and drank it. Got stuck it my throat.....my whole body forcing me to puke it out but i pushed it down as hard as i could and fealt the ball of mucus that was blocking my throat get pushed down!! THE RELIEF OMG!! from now on whenever i take a bite im going to drink water and make sure it never gets this worst!!!! I would like to know whats wrong with me but cant find anything concrete on the internet......... most people say something about glands surgeries but nothing that insures success.
