Today I just went to the doctor for the same problem, extreme pain after I eat... Feels like I just woke up, didn't eat breakfast or lunch and it's afternoon getting punched in the stomach over and over again.
The doctor felt my gallbladder, which sent pain straight through to my back all over! Then he ordered blood tests and ultrasounds...
waiting to see if i have to have it taken out.
but it totally doesn't feel like it would be my gallbladder but the doctor proved that it is. ... just goes to show , you think it's one problem but it's another.
like when i had a toothache that felt like one too but the one next to it was really abscessed.

how did the doctor diagnose you with this? I have been having the same problem mainly. Pain after eating, a hungry feeling. but also I feel like I am about to pop (my stomach anyway) and it will keep me up all night! I got 3 hours of sleep last night. I have talked to my doctor and they told me I have acid reflux but taking prilosec has not helped! So I was wondering what they did to diagnose you for this

When I get stomach pains and/or bloating after eating I find that drinking a shot glass full of apple cider viniger or a can of seven up will usually eliminate the problem within 15 minutes.

For me I've been unable to eat beef for about 8 years I do believe. After eating it, it takes around 30 minutes or so for this searing pain, like a knife stabbing into my left side, to start happening. I can feel my stomach start to growl in pain, and it feels like air bubbles are forming. Around the left side below my ribs, in line with my belly button, it normally pinches so sharply I stop breathing because its so agonizing.
Sometimes this pain is so sharp that it hits my back on my lower right side.
A few times the pain will reside on the lower left quadrant and will send a stabbing pain slowly down into my pelvic area.
I went to the doctor several times about this, they made me have an ultrasound for a cyst, but found nothing. Each time they just say I might have ate something weird.
The thing is, it's always with meat. Beef, any grilled meats, or eating any type of fast food item, especially if its greasy. The only thing I have been able to eat that is a meat product is chicken, which completely boggles me.
Does anyone have suggestion? I'm thinking of going to the doctor again, but I'm really starting to lose hope on this.

About I year ago I started getting very bad stomach pains after I ate dairy. Very bad cramping and feeling like I was about to vomit. Never would vomit or had diarrhea. So I have cut dairy out of my diet for the most part. When I do eat dairy it's very low amounts and I take Lactaid. More recently within the last four months every time I eat anything the same pains occur as when I eat dairy. In the last month the pains have gotten worse and I can't find an answer. I havn't been to the Dr yet I've tried researching on my own. Everything I come across it seems that the most two common symptoms are diarrhea and vomiting. Which I don't have, but I know everyone does have different symptoms. I'm a vegetarian and have been for about nine years. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. I do eat really unhealthy, I really eat only about seven things. (Pizza, mac n cheese, soy nuggets, indian food, various fast food, french fries)

Hi, please help my friend. After she eats she feels pain in her stomache and it bloats. So she stopped eating because it hurts when she eats. It you take your thumb and your first finger, and match them by your nails into a circle, that's how much chicken and corn she eats a DAY! And it STILL hurts her. And she STILL bloats. What could it be?

And yes, that is the first test doctors ignore! All I read here, for the *most* part, is a simple
problem that brings on all other problems--low HCL production.
If a glass of apple cider vinegar calms the pain, then
insufficient HCL production is the cause. This stuff is highly acidic,
and if it doesn't burn you like it should, then you don't have enough acidity in your
stomach to break down foods. It's symptomatic, but let's talk pain relief for now.
The pains after eating are symptomatic of a lot of gas from fermenting bacteria and food
NOT broken down because of low stomach pH. The stomach will feel like it is expanding
until it passes poorly digested food into the small intestine. Depending on what you ate, it could
take from 1-5 hours usually. The small intestines do NOT absorb the gas, but instead passes it
down to the large intestine. Some of the gas goes into the bloodstream, causing pain all
over--your back, your head, joints etc. Mood swings are common.
Someone wrote that they feel better when they eat bending over.
Yes, that is gas overload. Are you constipated? Stomach gas from low HCL in the stomach pushes
down onto gas in the colon. Gas expands the lumen of the intestines and the stomach causing pain.
Bending over causes trapped gas in the transverse colon to leave and go down to the
descending colon. There is also an artery running near your transverse that brings on the nausea.
So, the solution, if apple cider vinegar gives you a hint, is an an HCL trial that might be the missing link.
Antacids will make things worse! You need acid in your stomach. There are Betaine HCL supplements
but dosage and timing and knowing how to correct the problem can be found
on the internet--info from pros.
If gas still persists, well, then you also could have enzyme underproduction. As you hit
your middle years it becomes more common. This is where digestive enzymes are needed.
For me, colon gas is a definite sign. Enzymes are used by the small intestine to properly break
down food. If you don't have enough amylase, then carbs will give you problems.
Lack of protease will give the steak in your tummy no enjoyment. Some people just
take the whole digestive enzyme complex--including pancreatin--to make sure their bases are
covered.
Digestive enzymes are vehemently destroyed in stomach acid.
Some may pass through to the small intestine. I just take two capsules of the best quality
and eat small meals.
However, enzymes will not help digestion work if your HCL production is low.
The cider vinegar test is a good one to try.
So, here is my strategy that has finally brought me back to normal:
Just before meals:
Betaine HCl as needed
Digestive enzymes
Small meal. Is gas is a major problem, then low-gas meals,
like pork and rice. Four small meals a day will do it.
With meal:
Artichoke leaf extract. Very cheap and one of the most researched
substances around. It is known to stimulate peristalsis for those who are
constipated. It also stimulates bile flow from the liver, making digestion not a sluggish, painful
ordeal but an efficient one. Poor bile flow means sluggish digestion.
To cover my bases, I take lots of anti-microbial herbs from time to time that fight
the famous H. Pylori bacteria that sucks the acid from your stomach.
You can ask your doctor for a test for antibodies to this nasty, but common parasite
that can live in your stomach for the rest of your life.
Granted, raising acidity will make the Pylori live there longer, but this is symptomatic for me.
I just, like you, want relief from the pain.

Hi Valerie,
I know this was posted a long time ago, so I am hoping that you have found the answer to your question. If you have not, you definitly should be checked for Celiac disease. It is actually an intolerance to gluten (found in many starchy foods). The symptoms you are describing are classic for Celiac. The test is a simple blood test for antigliadin antibodies. The treatment is a lifelong gluten free diet--not easy, but 100% worth it! :) ...I hope this was helpful to you if you are still struggling with these symptoms!
Good Luck!
Anna

I like many others here have had this problem for 3 years. Shortly after my divorce I started having these pains after eating. At first it was just sometimes I thought it was just stress but now it happens all the time.I can eat a hand full of chips to a full meal and still have the same results.First my stomach bloats and I get lightheaded then the pain starts, sometimes it is minimal and other times it is like someone running a sword right thru me.I can drink anything except milk,I can drink beer wine or any hard liquor without any pain then I can eat what ever I want without it hurting but I have to drink at least 4 to 6 beers first.I have seriously thought about becoming an alcoholic just so I can eat when ever I want.I normally only drink a couple times a month. I have no insurance and I can not afford to see a doctor. The only time I can be free and eat is when my boyfriend gives me one of his pain pills which he can't do too often cause he needs them for a bad hip. I did break my ankle last year and I was givin a script for my own pain pills and I was able to eat 3 meals a day I was in heaven. If anyone out there has an answer for all us suffers please help......

Get urself checked out for Hiatus Hernia ..Trust me .. i had the very same problem for 4 yrs then it took a turn for the worse and i had a nasty Hiatus Hernia and that really puts the sh*t amongst the pigeons i can tell you ...later after many endoscopy's and tests etc etc i had a laprascopic nissen fundoplication which is the operation they do to fix it " well kind of " .... i had the operation on March 8th 2009 .. 9 months ago... and have been in pain ever since .. i cannot eat properly still after all this time .. i have severe chest and stomach pains about 18 hours a day and feel dizzy about 5 days a week ..
So PLEASE DO THESE IN ORDER !!
1..Spend 2 weeks eating plain skinless chicken and drinking just water ..see if that changes.. if it does then you probably have H~Hernia..
2..Have yourself checked for Hiatus Hernia " via endoscopy "
3..Have a real big think if you want to have the operation or spend your life swallowing " LANZOPRAZOLE " Tablets ..
Whatever path you take please do take care
