H Pylori bacterial infection can cause severe stomach and abdominal pains. It can also cause instant diarrhea. Perhaps have some stool testing done to test for this. I had it for over 1 year. Went to an integrative doctor and took aloe, pepcin, and other herbs to eradicate it.

Ever heard of Celiacs disease? Look it up and see if your symptoms match....especially after you eat starchy foods. Celiac is a gluten intolerance and gluten is a protein found in Wheat, Rye and Barley

I've been having constant stomach pain and gurgling for the last two days, and it has now gotten to bad I cannot sleep. It's not excruciating pain but a kind of mild pain around my belly button and pelvis area. Yesterday after eating an apple and a granola bar I felt fine but after eating my dinner (Hamburger, pasta, and a glass of milk) I felt completely horrible. I can only eat hings in small doses, and it's fine when I drink ginger ale. I'm heading to the ER definitely today but I'd like to have some idea of what to ask about for what it could possibly be, does anyone have any ideas? Also the gurgling may be due to hunger although due to the pain I cannot tell if I am hungry or not.

My 15 yr old has been to Dr's for his pain, is on a gluten-free/dairy free diet and had a stomach scope done, as well as LOTS of blood work...waiting for more specialist appointments, but curious...it started with greasy and sweet foods triggering pain, before it became ALL foods that cause trouble. Is this possible with gall bladder? They did check his appendix, but not sure about his gall bladder.

Hi! A lot of what you are going through seems very similar to my son's issues...and they are thinking he may have Crohn's disease. He does not have an official diagnosis yet, but drinking "Boost" at the exclusion of most food (he took in wee bits, but it all seemed to be excruciating), and it seems to be better now...now that he is not in so much pain, he is having an easier time identifying food that hurts the most...potatoes, corn, etc. I am reading a book about a diet for Crohn's and colitis...might help you to read the book "Food and the Gut Reaction", see if it seems like it might be describing you, and then try the "diet" if so? All the best, here' shoping you are pain-free soon!

Well, here I am again - I HAD to get to the ER and demand a CAT Scan. After drinking 1,000 mL (in just 1 hour) of this solution that they conveniently flavor like fruit punch AND getting a rectal enema right before having the scan done, my stomach was so bloated, but nevertheless, it had to be done. Result of the CAT scan - nothing wrong with me they say. They did, however, tell me that I have a fatty liver (since my gallbladder was surgically removed 29 years ago). They say to NOT eat ANY fried foods (that means oil fried, pan fried or even processed foods with lots of saturated fats). Today, my pain level is minor. I'm taking Zantac but I did have some pain this morning after eating my oatmeal with milk (only had 4 oz), and an English Muffin with jelly. So maybe I need to start with the milk issue and cut that out for an entire week to see if the pain persists or goes away. I had an egg-salad sandwich on whole grain bread for lunch and that did not bother me at all. Maybe it IS just a lactose issue (who knows?). If I had any type of disease (like Crohn's), they would have determined that since I have had 3 blood tests done along with that CAT scan. I definitely will pick up the book and thanks for the suggestion! I'm determined to figure this out once and for all. Oh, by the way, the doctors did not give me any pain medicine (I'm just taking the Zantac I had from last April). Wonder if I'm going to have to go back just to get a prescription. They sure do like to take your money!

I am having some weird things going on. After I eat, I have pretty bad stomach pain, not so much burning as it feels like someone has put a fist in my stomach. Going along with that, I have a weird feeling of almost like a bubble of air is in my throat. This has no taste or symptoms of acid reflux, but it is painful from my stomach through my chest to my throat. This all started in October when I suffered a very severe allergic reaction to shrimp. although I have eaten shellfish and seafood all my life. I was hospitalized for 3 days. At that time, they were giving me high dosages of prednisone IV. My swelling was intense. I was unrecognizable. My severely itching hives all over my body dispelled, but then I got little itchy bumps on the inside of my arms. Once released from the hospital, I was put on several medications, one of which was pill form prednisone. ( I suspect I had a reaction to the prednisone that caused the different rash and itching on my arms. ) Whenever I took the prednisone, it would cause this stomach pain, so my doctor took me off of it and gave me Nexiium to control the stomach pain, just enough until the prednisone meds could leave my body. I am no longer on prednisone or Nexium. In December, I had an ER visit for extreme back pain on the left side. I suspected kidney stone (since I've had one before), but diagnosed with pleurisy at ER. I really think it was a misdiagnosis, but I won't get into that. At the ER, they again gave me prednisone and sent me home with another prescription of it. I really tried to take it for my own good, but it just caused too much pain. I have now been off the prednisone for a month and still having this stomach pain and weird sensation in my throat. I feel anxious and maybe a little irritable, maybe just caused from the worry. In any case, I can barely function when this happens. I end up taking a Pepcid Complete and usually a xanax. While it doesn't entirely do away with the pain, it does calm it...and me...down. I've been reading a lot about GERD, ulcers, hiatal hernias, etc, but can't find anything so far that matches my symptoms. I know it's not gall bladder as mine was removed in 2001. Has anybody else experienced this? I don't "throw up in my throat" as often describes acid reflux. I just have that pain and feel it almost traveling (like an air bubble) to my throat. Any ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions? --- I am going to try to see my doctor about this in the next couple of weeks (times are bad...gotta wait on my retirement check), but I like to arm myself with some knowledge before going in. Thanks for any help you can give.

It might be a long shot, as my third son has some similar symtoms but not the bubble sensation (at least not that he's ever mentioned to me)...but he has def. had the anxiousness, absolutely the irritable, and the pain in his abdomen...but for him going gluten-free has changed him...SO much happier and pain-free! Maybe google gluten intolerance or celiac? Might give you a better idea if this is indeed fitting your symptoms or not. The only other thing that comes to mind is maybe something like candida (yeast), brought on possibly by the meds? I know it can wreak havoc on a body, and often is misdiagnosed.
Hope you find your answers soon, and without too much pain! :)

Thanks for your response! So sorry to hear of your son and his pain. Hard to live and function when you're in pain. I've never considered gluten-free...I'm wondering now if the shellfish allergy somehow may have triggered other allergies or issues? It's a thought. In any case, looks like i'm headed for some tests. Good luck to your son!

Caution: milk is not recommended because it contains lactic acid and may sooth the pain initially, but lactic acid causes the stomach acids to increase. So heartburn and pain will become worse in the long run.
