I have been having stomach pains for nearly 7 years now. Between 2004 and 2005 I had several major surgeries. I had my gall bladder removed, a partial hysterectomy, then they went back and finished a total hysterectomy. I have had every organ taken out possible. I ended up with intussusception (a disease that causes the intestines to telescope into themselves). The dr's gave me 2-5 hours to live without surgery. I had the surgery (obviously, or I wouldn't be able to type this today). This all happened when I was 28 yrs old. I am female and this floored my doctors because intussusception generally only happens to infant boys over girls with a 3:1 ratio. So for it to happen to an adult female was astonishing. Since then i have had my appendix out as well as 3 more bowel resectionings. I am now having issues with drinking cold sodas or eating. I get a recurring pain in my upper abdomen, as well as on the right side and the left side. I am in the hospital frequently with bowel obstructions. I have become withdrawn from public as I have a hard time with my bowel movements. Last night I spent all night in pain and throwing up. The dr's can't give me a definite answer. I have had laparoscopic exploratory surgeries, colonoscopies and upper endoscopes. I have been on amitriptyline, desipramine, bentyl, cholestyramine, and amitiza. Nothing helps. i have 4 teens and I feel as though I am missing out on life. When I am in pain, which is almost always, I just want to lay around because even moving makes it worse. I have scars all over my abdomen which only make me feel worse about myself. I have been put on Lorcet 10 mg and even that doesn't help the stomach pain either. Please let me know if there is anything new. :'(

I have the same thing.  Mine went away for a little over a year and I had almost forgotten about it. Well, it is back now and it is terrible.  I have all of the same symptoms but I wanted to add that during my attacks I also get very hot and sometimes sweat.  I am currently taking Prilosec but that hasn't seemed to help this time around.  Please let me know what you discover and keep updating us.  I do not have health insurance and the last visit to the ER for this, the DR. told me it was heartburn and to stop drinking coffee.  That cost me almost $1000 for that piece of advice and it hasn't helped any.

Good luck to you and if I discover anything that helps, I will let you know.

have the same experience. My Doctor says it was Gastro Esophageal Reflux Desease. Experiencing the same for almost 3 years. Have to take Prevacid to thicken the wall of the lower splinchter in esophagus connected to the stomach,, Mocusta (for controlling acid secretion in the stomach) and Domperidone for the fast digestion of foods in the stomach. My doctor says eating fatty, acidic, spicy foods can worsen the pain. for more info check webmd.com

Hey everyone,

I have never posted online anything before but this is my story. Last night i had a whole bunch of spicy food at like 11pm. 2 weeks i also had a stomach bug (severe diarhea for about 2.5 days). I woke up at 3:30am with a hugeee pain burning in the top of my stomach...i stood up walked around drank water etc and it seemed to calm. I layed down for about 5 mins and it got way worse. I vomited about 5 minutes later. After that vomiting it was soo bad ive never ever had pain like that before i could hardly breathe i felt like everytime i breathed my lungs wouldnt fill with air. Anyways about 5 minutes of that (i was going to emergency), i puked one more time and felt much much better. I sat on the couh thinking i was good to stay home. About 10 mins later though it started again so i went to ermgency. They gave me what is called a "pink lady"...i think its jus a drink of tums very strong ant-acid...i puked that up about 15 later but it did offer a tiny bit of relief but tastes awful!

Anyways, the doctor said right away i had gastritis, inflammation of the stomach. I googled it when i got home and everything fits what im saying and what you are all saying. I was hooked up to IV with a very strong anti nausea, and given some type of medication for it through IV. I left about an hour later with no pain at all. I just had a piece of toast and all is good so far. The woman prescribed me something called Protola to fill if i want to but i havent yet.

Anyways i dont know if this helps but google gastritis and you will see the symptoms are exact! Take care allll!

im a 21 year old male who has had stomach problems for the past 3 years and was experiencing a lot of the same stuff you were. my stomach would would hurt (sharp pain, spasm, cramp) from the moment i woke up and the second i went to bed i could barely eat and would never get hungry. my other symptoms were having alot of bowel movements, bloody stools, weight loss, headaches, and alot more but the stomach pain was the worst. i was 167lbs before i got sick and i went all the way down to 130lbs and im 5'11. i did all the tests known to man and they labeled it "ibs" which is bull sh*t but someone told me that i might be gluten intolerant(celiac sprue is when you determine a wheat allergy from the test, its essentially the same thing just gluten intolerance dont show up on the test) and i thought they were crazy cause ive eaten wheat my whole life. But long story short i went on a gluten free diet after 3 years of pain and i found that im gluten intolerant and ALL my symptoms went away within the next few days( and i had around 10-12 symptoms). So im suggesting you try cutting out gluten and dairy for a month and see how you feel. Its hard as sh*t trust me i know im 21 and cant drink beer but its worth it feeling normal again trust me.

Alright so first of all..back when I was sick and reading a lot of these blogs I realized that majority of the people who wrote on here never came back with any answers as to what haloed them get better..I don't wanna be one of those people so I'll give u a brief summary of what I was dealing with..first off i got sick from eating way too much pizza one night in early April. I threw up once and was like "cool..now I'm good" but suprise suprise i wound up lettin loose 2 or 3 more times that night..after a few days of bed rest I went back to work the following monday and worked that whole week..then I started feelin all the symptoms of having a bug or food poisoning or whatever else you want to call it..I never threw up again but good lord I felt so nauseous for months following my original sickness..after seeing a GI doctor and running several tests nothing came back conclusive..pretty much everything was normal..after a few months I was still feelin pretty bad and my mom suggested going to a nutritionist..I was real skeptical but I figured what the hell...so I went..this guy has helped me ounlt so much..he ran some really strange tests that I was VERY skeptical about until he told me things I knew I had that I hadn't told him I had..he put me on several natural suppliments..the most beneficial I think wa choline..I also soak my feet in a detox tea every night..the downside of this is that the first few visits were Very expensive..if you do take whAt has helped me and use it to help yourself you need to have an open mind about it..I'm not the most open minded person in the world...I'm a 25 year old guy who lives in a big city and I'm pretty much just a normal dude..now that being said I dont recommend going to a nutritionist until you've tried fixing things with a regular doctor first...any other questions anyone has  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use

I seem to be having a very similar problem as you. I'm a female and I'm 16 years old. I've had this problem for about two years now and I've been scoped, had a CT scan and an ultrasound and they didn't find ANYTHING. It's unbearably frustrating and sometimes I just cry because I can't stand feeling so vulnerable. It feels like an intense burning in my upper abdomen and it gets really bad when I exercise. I am a great soccer player and love the sport, but I'm always in pain and I feel that it debilitates my ability to play. My mom is a doctor and she has tried treating everything that she can think of. At first we thought it was acid because it seems to get worse when I drink orange juice and spicy food, so I took a double dose of Prevacid. This didn't seem to work and I continued to get the stomach aches. Not only do I get these burning all the time stomach aches, but I also get one that feels like stabbing because of gas, and the worst one which feels like a knife continually stabbing me and it paralyzes me in pain. I've gone to the hospital because of that one, and even in the throws of my pain they couldn't find anything. My mom then thought that maybe I was allergic to something and we knew they I did seem to have lots of trouble when I ate mayonnaise, so first we took out all of the soy from my diet (hard to do) and that didn't seem to do anything. Second, we took all the eggs out of my diet and that didn't do anything either. My mom has taken me off of the Prevacid and I feel the same as I felt on it, so I know it's not an acidic problem. I have always been a kid who LOVES to chew gum and it's just in my nature to need to use my jaw muscles. I have a bad gum chewing habit and chew on average 4 sticks of gum a day. I used to chew Trident sugar free gum and my mom just recently realized that that has an ingredient called Sorbitol in it, which is now being found to cause abdominal discomfort if taken too much. My mom has switched me to sugar gum and I'm only taking 0-1 sticks a day, an we are seeing right now if that's going to be the answer. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP! I'M COMPLETELY DESPERATE FOR A DIAGNOSIS OR AN ANSWER TO MY PROBLEM! IT IS SO FRUSTRATING! I'M SO YOUNG AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO LIVE THROUGH THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE AND I LOVE PLAYING SPORTS AND I CAN'T STAND THE FACT THAT IT HURTS ME TO DO SO! IT'S SO HARD FOR ME TO EXPLAIN TO MY COACHES AND FRIENDS WHY I CAN'T PLAY OR HANG OUT WITH THEM OR WHY I'M IN PAIN BECAUSE I DONT KNOW WHY! I'M SICK OF FEELING SO WEAK AND VULNERABLE TO MY PROBLEMS AND I'VE BEEN PRAYING FOR AN ANSWER. NOBODY SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M GOING THROUGH AND NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER AND I'M LOSING MY PATIENCE. PLEASE HELP!!!

Can also be gall bladder, pancreas problems. You just have to keep testing. Have they done a stool sample? There has to be answers.

IBS, diverticulitis, gall bladder and pancreas. There are alot ot things about these symptoms. Have an h-pylori test done and stool sample. Check for gall bladder as well because this is more common in women and also for ibs or diverticulitis that are becoming common now. H-pylori is a bacteria that uses it's spiral shape to burrow into the lining of your stomach and survives in acid produced by your stomach. It will trick your stomach into producing more acid as well as cause a bacterial infection. I will send a link if you like or just comment on here.

Also ct scans and ultrasounds don't always reveal alot. Go for MRI or to a specailist. I am trying a new thing and will let someone know if it works. Will post it here. Here is the link.
