I have gastroparesis , I have sleep apnea, am overweight, and have had this breathing problem ever since my gall bladder removal surgery. It is a diaphragm issue for me. My diaphragm was stretched out too far during surgery. I use breathing exercises and a 5lb weight on my stomach to help train my diaphragm to relax. I went to many doctors and was told anxiety for a long time, and I learned the solution through my yoga instuctor. I hope this helps someone.

I have read the same symptoms over and over and the common denominator seems to be stress and anxiety and doctors don't seem to have a clue.

A dull tight pain is just lack of acid in the stomach. Doctors don't really know much about it which is really sad. When I first got a stomach problem I thought i was having a hard attack. I couldn't breath and carry anything made was difficult.  I did all sort of tests but all looked fine. The solution is HCL supplements, it is a life saver. Most people don't have enough acid in the stomach to digest food so when you eat food stays in your stomach longer and your body work really hard to help digestion.

If you decided to try HCL please do the proper research in the internet before trying it. I know the pain it comes with this feeling so whenever I see a post somewhere about it I make sure to drop a note.

My Dad who is 84 just started with this. You are about the only one who has a reasonable solution. Diet is my main focus. At his age he is not interested in test after test. He leads an active life. But when this comes on it causes anxiety. He has never had anxiety issues. So thank you for posting. At least it gives me something to work with when talking to his doctor.

I have been experiencing this problem and also visited the ER several times. I have learned now stay away from the doctor. I used to be a normal guy. Ran marathons as a troubled teen. I ride pro BMX, I also got a 3.7 out of high school. Nothing worried me. I was unstoppable. Then I started getting into sales and stress. At one point I became number three in the United States for sales. Managed several contracts in several industries As a sales booster. Started working 7 days a week and smoking. One night I came home and smoked and had an extreme anxiety attack. It was basically me falling over and loosing my breath. I started digging on why I reacted like that. Well that sparked anxiety. Then I smoked spice and thought I was going to stab myself. Crazy for a guy that was getting ahead! Well the anxiety eventually left me with leaving the sales industry. Well knowing how much money u can make can really drive someone. Let me tell you why I have a breathing issue today and live with fear. I eventually got married. 1 month after she cheated on me. I lived for seven days at our home knowing that the women I loved and gave my life for messed my heart up forever. I eventually broke away and started going to the local bars. I found a girl with a similar problem of her husband and we shortly after had sex multiple times. Keep in mind I was not yet divorced. Well one month later my wife wanted me back. I tried staying far away but could not. We shortly there after got together and this is when it started for me. The girl I had committed adultery with found my wife's phone number and told my wife she had HIV. Well my wife immediately contacted me and really wanted no part in my life again. That night we spent 1000 dollars on tests in an ER. We had three days to think about it. It was a killer! Imagine k owing that u could have something that killed u in 10 years. And knowing u gave that to another human. Well we got the tests back and we were all good. It was still horrific. Six months later I got another test and was still clean. But let me tell u how terrible your thoughts get. I was depressed. I drank for a month in a row. I lived in alaska where it was dark at the time. I started clenching my stomach muscles to keep my heart from going through anxiety. Feels line a heart attack. Well anxiety also makes u extremely tired because your mind is always stressing. Months later I was being rushed to the ER for breathing failure. I eventually became so worried all the time that I could not breath. Started yawning. Now half a year later I sti can't breath. The funny thing is a quit smoking for a year and it still got worse. So I experimented. I started smoking half a pack a day again and my breathing problem stayed exactly the same. But when I eat I have an extremely hard time breathing. I pretty much have to lay down to let it go down. I am also always thirsty. My personal belief even though I hate it is that I have a anxiety disorder. I work in an extremely stressful environment. I work ten ours a day. But after I have two days off in a row and ride Bmx I am fine. Yes I can still feel it but whatever. What are u going to do? Commit suicide? Nothing is that bad! You keep trucking, you get over your fears, you don't let your mind run with the crazy and u don't let doctors tell u what u already know. Most of us do enough research on our phones, so we know more about it then the doctors. Just relax sit back drink a beer and relax. Make sure your sleeping good, so go outside and force yourself to walk three miles if u have to. Drink tea, stay away from sugar energy drinks. You don't need to be increasing your heart rate when your anxiety prone. I am still right there with all of you, the only thing is I will beat this thing mentally and never quit fighting. If I have something that is eating me and killing me, f it. I have already had a good run. Don't be scared, just smile and don't focus on why you can't breath. Take a bath and breath some steam. Have fun yall!

Hello,

I have been reading all your posts and I have the same issues, what one has mentione is wheat glueting that is every loaf of bread out there. The glue that is used to make bread is not made for digestion. Also what doctros do not like to get involved with is yeast. More than likely you have a yeast infection that is in your stomach. Try stopping eating breads. An 10 to 1 you will notice that your symptoms will subside. And if you do not believe this try it. Then introduce the bread back into your diet, I will bet you will have all your symptoms back. Eric J Mazzi

Hi all, I know how you feel with the breathing thing. I had forgotten I once had this problem way back when and it had to do with diaphragm and antacid , possibly acid reflux and esophagus.

Now it is back and I kept thinking it was my diaphragm due to a five and half hour surgery I had and during surgery my diaphragm collapsed according to Doc. Any ways, don't like this feel at all and I am looking into this acid reflux thing.

Now I have to ask my pharmacist to look back in his records what I took for it. good luck everyone.

I am 31 and i suffered difficulty breathing several months back until now. It's very discomforting and I almost always have this experience on my way to work, at work, after eating, while walking etc. I hear you all... i've been to alot of test and physical examinations and everything looks good on paper. Well, the doctor couldn't diagnose what's happening within me. I couldn't even understand what's going on. Like anyone else, this experience changed my whole being. I limit myself on social and physical activities. What else can I say but this thing completely changed my life. However, I am still hoping that one day I can still go back to normal.

Things I suspected that causes these things..

1. Stress, work related / family etc. - AVOID STRESS AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.

2. ANXIETY attact - Medications for asthma, such as inhaler, ventolin, etc. contain steroids that would trigger anxiety.

3. Don't fight your feelings , STAY calm - whenever you feel you need more oxygen. Don't grasp and breath forcefully. Learn to relax try to take a slow deep breath using the nose, hold it for few seconds, then release through the mouth.

4. Avoid sedentary life - don't stay on the bed and just lie down. Do some light physical activities that would release tension but refrain from any vigorous activities.

5. Detoxify - check the internet some, detoxification method, lose weight, regulate your eating habits, get enough sleep and rest.

6. MOST of all PRAY - this a comfort and strength from GOD.

I had this same problem for a long time.  I eventually figured it out it was due to not enough stomach acid.  The lack of stomach acid hindered my digestion, causes my stomach to swell and to push onto my diaphragm, preventing proper breathing.

Try this, squeeze half a lemon and mix 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper in a glass of water and drink it during and after you eat.  That will increase your stomach acid and help digest your food.  My breathing improved in less than 2 days after drinking this with meals.  If that helps you, you could go to your doctor and see if they have more treatment for low stomach acid.
