Strange aching, sore spot deep in left side of neck/throat

Did you ever find out what it was? I have a very specific spot right behind my left jawbone that is also very deep in my neck. It hurts to press on it and also aches throughout the day but doesn't cause any other pain in my throat or anything. Its not a gland or a sore throat. Its almost as if it is a knot deep in the neck and it hurts on its own. It feels worse when I move my neck to one side or raise my head. It just started a few weeks ago and I didn't think anything of it. Now, after all this time and it won't go away for more than a few days, I'm starting to get worried.

I have the exact thing, yes i still have my tonsils. I have been havin this here an there since high school. Sonetimes i push so hard even though it hurts an it pops! Its been awhile since I've had to deal with this. & now its back.. why is it.

I went to a throat specialist today she said it was a muscle in my neck and to take ibprophine.

I thought it was a lymphnode I teach online and when I talk a lot or teach a lot that is when it gets painful....i wear a scarf and that helps so does vapor rub and massage.

I am experiencing the exact same thing. Did you ever find out what it was? Do you still have it?

My son is only 9 years old and is experiencing all these symptoms that you all are describing, on the left side. He keeps grabbing his neck and crying. Doc said nothing was abnormal. Sad and scary, especially when most of you have been experiencing this for years. But my son is only a child.  =(  If any of you have found a correct diagnosis, please reply to this post. THank you very much

also, coincidentally he was bit by something last night (2 red bites on his back and on his shoulder). I thought he might be having a reaction to the bites?? He was also sick with a cough and runny nose for the last 3 weeks. Maybe the nasal drip caused something? I'm very curious to find out how this started with other people, and what causes this

I think you may all be suffering with your Thyroids. You need to get your Thyroid Antibodies checked not just TSH because this can show up as normal even if if you have a thyroid problem. Get your thyroid antibodies checked and an X-ray of your Thyroid gland.

I was also prescribed Amoxicillan for this identical problem. Just as you I have seen no relief. Have you found out any answer to this problem?

Iv had the same problem for a few days , it just randomly started after i recovered from a sinus infection

 I have same exact description as you, if i turn my neck i feel a sharp pain like a tendon or something is pulling and also feel it when i swallow, and its only on the left side.

I have the same pain as well.  Never constant and does not hurt when I press on it.  Just every so often when I move a certain way and only on the left side.  Which is why I wondered if it could be my thyroid since the thyroid wraps around the front of your neck like a butterfly (hense the saying butterfly effect).  I will be talking to the Dr next time I am there.

It's concerning to hear so many of us are suffering in the same way, and no one has a clear answer.

I've had the problem for approx 2 years now. Last year I had blood tests and ultrasound for my thyroid... all negative. After that the pain sort of went away. Last month it came back, and has been constant for around 5-6 weeks now. My Dr gave me antibiotics, then a second round of antibiotics, then a blood test, and most recently i've been told I must be suffering from anxiety.... well of course i'm suffering from anxiety, I have no idea what the hell is wrong with me, and I can't get a straight answer from anybody.

The most frustrating thing as that all 3 Dr's I've been to see have a different opinion, but no one actually have any clue what is going on. The pain is getting worse, and I'm struggling to focus on my everyday life, looking after my daughter or going to work seem to be really difficult

I hope someone finds an answer soon.... I'm not sure how much more of this I can take

Same thing here also. I have the same pain on/in my right side of my neck like everyone is describing. Also I can't really smell anything or it fades in and out. I also try to wear contacts and I can barely feel my contact in my left eye but it feels like I have a small suction cup on my right eye when I have the conatacts in. I feel like it is all conected some how. I havent wnet to the dr yet and it is very odd with so many people with the same problem and no idea what it is?
