I have been having these sharp shooting pains at the back of my head, more towards the left side. These pains last for about a second, sometimes 3 to 4 seconds and come at intervals every minute or so. This normally happens during winter and initially I used to be worried. But this has been happening since the past 17 years - once a year during winter normally starts at late night and goes on till morning.
What I have been doing, and it works, is that I place a Hot Water Bag at the area of pain. Also during my morning Shower, I allowed the hot shower water to fall on that area for couple of mins. This has helped me. Please do give it a try. I do not take any pain killers.

Occipital neuralgia Due to pinching of the nerves
I have been having a sharp pain, first in the back of my neck, then up the left side of my head. It does not last long, but is concerning.
This is my story same thing I've been checked out but nothing. I know like someone stuck an ice pick through your brain and pulls it out and the pains gone. I'm 36 and had this since I was in Iraq.
I experience the same as you. These pains, I compare them to volts running through your head—just shooting across the head. It happens on both sides of my head, typically from the base up. Sometimes it'll even go diagonally, and I quickly grasp my head in shock. I too have bad memory, especially episodic. I'm 15 and can't really remember my younger years and I'm forgetting more of middle school. My twin retells major events that I was supposedly present in. and it's so hard to retrieve those moments. I'm not really sure what to make of these pains.
Do you have anything silver or metal near your head area? If so make sure you have you cold packs to keep you cool. The world is going through a change!! Actualy how long have you suffered with this for?
