sudden weakness in arms

I am glad I saw this. I thought that I was the only one, since when I mentioned the weakness to my doctor and he looked at me like I had a problem. Well I do my arms hurt and feel weak and it's episodic sometimes I wear those like compression guards for sprains from shoulder to hands and after a period of time the pain subsides and I am good, but lately it is happening more often. And the pain that I experience carries over during the night just unbearable.

I have been experiencing pain in both arms, shoulders & across top of my back. At first this started almost every morning at around the same time (about 3 or 4am). Really dull severe pain along with sweating & sometimes nausea & wind!  It only usually lasts a minute or two but I feel like I'm going to die.  It stopped for about a month & then started up again, but this time ONLY at night, so it seems to be associated with lying or sitting? Its NEVER happened during the day. I have had an angiogram, ecgs, etc etc & nothing is wrong. Blood pressure is perfect (but on medication for it). The cardiologist said my heart is in 'good shape'. I have read through pages & pages on here & see lots of people have similar issues, although noone has mentioned shoulder pain. Also, noone has any idea what it might be. I've tried googling everything I can think of, my family are looking for answers all the time, but none of us can come up with anything. There is no chest pain with the shoulder/arm pain. I really wish I has some answers. As other people have said, when it happens it's really scary! HELP!!!

Same thing happened to me 5 times already...I'm afraid that happens to me when I'm driving. Doctor says is a lot of stress

I have just returned from a 48 hour observation and testing for these sensations. I experienced these 3 days ago early am, but I also felt it in my legs, but it was over in a few seconds, but occurred several times throughout the morning. I went to work and had the 7th one all from 5:30 am to 8:45 am so called my clinic and saw my doctor. I was sent over to the hospital where they monitored my heart for about 2 hours and showed me the chart where the bleeps were close together for a while and then spaced as they should be. We do not have a cardiologist at our location so they took me by ambulance to another town 60 miles away. After ultra sound of my heart, CT scan of my brain and CT scan of my lungs with iodine dye, EKG and many tests on my blood nothing was found. Kidneys, liver, normal. A nurse checked my carotid arteries and checked pulse comparisons on right and left arm and the left pulse at several locations on left side was weaker than right. She said she heard a carotid bruit (sound indicating blockage and suggested the cardiologist do an ultrasound of the arteries. He did not hear the bruit, but later said there was minimum blockage of the left carotid artery which was nothing to worry about and the next day said it was 50% blockage but said that they don't worry until it is 80% or so and said to have the ultrasound done again in approx. 2 years. He added that even if the blockage was more, it would not produce my symptoms, but would feel more stroke like on one side but the brain CT scan showed no indication of a stroke. He did not recognize my symptoms as I described them but when I read what was written it simply said "weakness" which was so vague and they didn't pay attention to the feelings of the blood leaving my muscles or rush of something going through my body and weakness in itself can mean anything but what I had felt. However, all the tests were good and I was sent home. My issue is if so many people seem to be having these experiences, why as of Feb 2, 2018 does my primary care doctor, the hospital doctor doing the 2 hour monitoring of my heart and a cardiologist act as though they have never heard of this? Are we not explaining it well enough? I had a hard time describing it because I've never felt anything like this, but can say that it was extremely scary and I hope it never happens again.

I'm having same symptoms - sudden deep ache and weakness across chest and down both arms. Sometimes lasts a minute and sometime a few minutes. I agree with the person that said it is most likely thoracic outlet syndrome - a nerve compression issue. Here's the original post...

It is compression on certain discs in the spine from poor posture(head forward drooping shoulders) at a computer, handbags on a shoulder, etc etc that causes this numbness in hands and or arms and feeling of heaviness in arms and fatigued arms and hands...my doc at kaiser had "never heard of such a symptom"

will alleviate it over time!! used to be called "rucksack paralyisis" pneumatic hammer syndrome etc...can be caused by work related repitiive movements etc.

I ‘ve Just had it, too. Exactly what you all are describing. Sudden, fast, and goes away within a few seconds.

That's weird because I am experiencing the same symptoms and my sodium is too high.

I am having the exact same experience. it passes but there is nothing that I can identify as a trigger. But I have to stop what I am doing and wait for it to pass. Please let me know if you've learned anything more.

I get the same thing in my arms every now and then. Strangest feeling, hard to describe. Heavy, achy. I have had cervical issues and assume it is probably from that. It feels likea nerve issue isn't of cardiac. I dont get dizzy, sweaty or any other symptoms.

I have experienced the same kind of feeling. Like my arms weigh a ton and it happens bilateral. The heaviness does go away in about a minute. I have had a EKG twice on the second day after the episode. Everything was normal, as well as blood enzymes.

I also have the same experience with weakness in the arms and ocular migraines, it may very well be connected in some way. I always wondered whether it was common or not.

I’ve had the same symptoms. Four episodes over the last year generalized sensation in both arms and chest. Chest feels almost compressed and then the numb sensation sweeps from chest down the arms. Last time both forarms were aching and numb.

Yes I do! Have always suffered from migraines ( ocular as well) and have had this strange arm numbness come on all of a sudden but not with a a migraine. It doesn’t happen offen but is quite concerning as one time it happened when I was driving and could not hold the steering wheel. I have not been to my Dr. yet but am going soon.
