Hello,
I know this is an old topic, but I can relate to this pain. I started getting it 4 years ago after I had my third child. I had a C-section and my tubes tied as well. I get the pain every single month 8 to 10 days before I get my period at all times of the day or night. My doctor have also done all kind of tests and nothing. They cannot find whats causing the pain. It is hard to live with this pain every month for almost half of the month. I can barely do anything when I get it. The doctor keeps saying it my be endo and wants to put me in a 6-months treatment with some drugs that will give me all the symptoms of menopause (as if my life isnt already hard enough). Anyways, have they figure out what cause the pain? Are you still getting the pain? I have it as I typed this, and I am desperate to find something because the doctors are not being too helpful :(
I do think it has to do with my tubes being tied, but I dont know
You just described my pain/symptoms perfectly! I am 32 and have been dealing with this for about 4 months. I started withh my OB/GYN since I use Mirena, she had an ultrasound performed and it showed nothing. I went to my family doctor seeking help. She did a blood screening which showed nothing except slightly elevated WBC. She also ordered a CAT scan which showed nothing. I am now scheduled to see a Gastro specialist. It is so frustrating to have pain that affactes your everyday life but noone can find where it is coming from. If you have found anything out since your post, I would love to ehar about it. I just don't know where to turn next.

Has anyone had any productive conclusions to their problems? About a year ago I started having a pain on my left side, just above and inside of my hip (similar to others posting here). It starts hurting about a week before my period, mostly during the day and then the day ends with spotting, but repeats every day until I get my period. Sometimes the pain is so bad its like labor pains, then it eases, especially when I can get off my feet. And it can hurt all the way down my left groin/leg. I had an ultrasound after 9 months of pain and they found 2 cysts (1.9cm and 1.6 cm) but was told they would pass on their own and were too small to cause pain. I had another ultrasound two months later and they were gone, but the cramping was the same or worse. I've always thought it was associated with my left ovary and premenstrual, but I just went to an OB specialist and she said there is no way its from the cyst. I do have an IUD and she's going to run some bloodwork and tests, but also said it might not be gynecological. I'm confused because it seems so tied to the week before getting my period, but now I'm wondering if my cycle is just exacerbating whatever else is going on. But then why am I spotting every time after a day of cramping? I've now read many posts online but NONE of them have any conclusions!
Have you ever tried a bio-identical progesterone? Arbonne International sells an excellent one called Proleif. I am on it and it has helped a lot. I know you are very young but I recommend reading the book "What your Doctor won't tell you about pre-menopause by Dr. R. Lee It is an eye opener! Good luck!
Ive had the same pain since i was about 14 im now 25. at the age of 17 i was told that all the pain was due to polycystic overies.... they explained that the pain from the cysts bursting was what caused the main pain i get and that because my cysts are 5cm + that they are taking up room in my pelvis causing a pressure type pain that can cause other problems with in my abdo. When i was 18 i got sever pain in my abdo they sent me for a scan and told me all my cysts had dissapeared! i lost 5stone in 3 months and concieved my 1st child (who was 9 weeks prem not sure why!) everytime i went back to doctors about the pain and requested a scan too see if they come back the doctor kept saying no i dont need one as my last scan was clear. Now that im 25 i had my 1st smear test done it come back with server cell change and had to have biopsy to remove the precancer cells (they took a large chunk out), my gyni then started asking me about other things and ordered i has another scan done which has shown up that i have a cyst on my right overie again large at just under 5cm. I went back to see her 2 weeks ago to have my 6 month check up after my smear to make sure the pre cancer cells havent come back (im waiting for results now) and she commented about the scan results "dont worry it will go on its own all women get them but just dont notice" i got to have another scan done in 3 months just to prove to me that it will go on its own as i wasnt convinced by what she was saying. Ive also been diagnosised with IBS because of this pain that im getting and will be having investigtion surgery to see if i have endo. Moral of my story dont give up if you dont believe what your being told tell them you want it proving, tell them you want more investigations done dont give up its not them that have to live with pain. I have had to fight for years to get the doctors to believe me in what im saying and i am being taken more seriously now i have has smear test and had abnormal result as they worried i might have cancer. Oh i have also been told on may occasions by atleast 15 different doctors to be screened to std as its common complaint and also they screen for other things in women that are not std but can cause the pain. out of the atleast 10 times ive been once i had BV back in 2006 (not std) but they still make me go to prove im clear of all stds ive only ever been in 2 relationships one of 5yrs and current one of 6yrs. If i get my diganosis i will keep you informed, its nice to no that im not alone in these unpleasent pains
Ive also got psoriasis, thyroid nodule, liver tummor (not cancer), IBS? (i debate this diganosis) pains in my joints (mainly hip, knee and ankles)
I have been having these same issues but the pain comes primarily when I am about to start my menstrual cycle. This pain has been getting worse over the past 10 months or so. I have had the Mirena IUD for a little over 4 years and thought the pain was always associated with that. I finally went to the Er a few nights ago when the pain litterally was unbearable any longer. The dr did blood work and a ct scan and told me my lymph nodes in my stomach were swollen and that I more than likely had mesenteric adenitis. After doing some research on that subject I feel like that is an inaccurate diagnosis. If anyone has gotten any answers please feel free to share. I am not sure how much longer I can bear this considering the pain is getting worse and other symptoms seem to be coming on with it.
Saw a pelvic pain specialist many years ago for symptoms like many of you have described. After using trigger point injections to isolate the exact area, he said that my ureter nerve was the source. He was baffled by how much trouble it gave me, sometimes constant pain, sometimes worse at certain points in my cycle, and sometimes much worse with orgasm. But there it was, and he numbed it without making me incontinent. I saw him for two years in my mid-thirties. I had had one child via cesarean at that point. Nerve damage is a strange thing... and I never knew what caused it.
For what it's worth, finding a specialist who wouldn't give up was worth the effort - and those injections did eventually mitigate the pain. Not completely... But my pain level is much lower. I notice it daily, but it's a 2-3 most of the time.
I found this message board by accident while researching ovarian cysts for a friend. How random!
Good luck everyone.
I haven't noticed anyone discuss POCS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) on here which is the leading cause of almost all of your symptoms. Please check into it (if you haven't by now). I also have the IUD and I've been experiencing the same symptoms on my lower left side. They did a CT scan and bloodwork on me, but everything came back normal. They've checked my thyroid as well and are aware I've previously had ovarian cysts. They have a strong feeling it's POCS, which does make a lot of sense. There are several symptoms that may not even seem related to your ovaries. Also, they should run separate tests for your thyroid, pituitary gland, and check testosterone levels. It's worth a shot to look into! Hope it's fixed at this point though!
Hello, I know this is also kind of a late to reply, But I have also been suffering a pain in my lower Left side of my abdomen. It started about 6 to 7 years ago. Im going to be honest and give you my history.. I know a lot of us women diet a lot, I was dieting doing the Adkins and i think this is when it started, I feel like i did some damage down there. I am not a DR. but I believe it had a lot to do with dehydration and the lack of water I was taking in. I am not a big water drinker except for when Im actually working out. I Know this diet regimen can dehydrate you because of all the fat and salt intake minus the sugar and fruits. This is when i started to feel this pain after several months of this diet. That being said, I went to the ER after the pain brought me to tears. They took a ex-ray and ran some test and the DR. said that it looks like constipation or I was passing a kidney stone.. Now here I am 5 to 6 years later going on 40 years of age still with pain. Some times worst then other times, come and go as it pleases never the less never gone for long. I have called/ seen/ visited so many dr. No answers, I Even thought of asking Dr. OZ "lol" Its crazy that so many women suffer from this with no answers. I know its not a kidney stone because it would have passed already and Yes I do believe it has alot to do with the larger intestine and my bowel movement even though I feel like I'm pretty regular. The reason I believe it has something to do with this is because i get relief if i drink a little prune juice. Or at times when the pain occurs I drink pure cranberry juice and it helps. It has become my little problem child that I have to care for on my own. Now that I'm getting older I have grown use to the pain coming and going, But i realize it is actually hurting more around my ovulation time, but not limited to my ovulation time and one time I was being intimate with my husband and had an orgasm and once i finished I literally had to ball myself up in a knot from the pain..(sorry for being to explicit, just want share in total) I am now eating more leafy greens, water, cranberry juice, and less to no soda, and fried foods, And lots of fruits, mango and apples help me with a regular cycle. No red meat, it just seem way to hard for me to digest. I still have the pain but I don't know again if its not that bad or if i have grown so use to it my tolerance level has risen. I started to see another Doctor now that I have moved to New Jersey. He told me after checking me that he think I may have some small thyroids growing down there some where, He also asked if i had any blood n my stool, and i said no which i don't, and he asked if i have pain during sex or discomfort, and i said no which i don't. He also told me that because I had, had a tubal pregnancy over 15 years ago that it may be scare tissue but the only way to find out about this is through surgery which means i have to be opened, spend a ton of money for a "maybe" situation.. This is when i began to google this problem. I googled this information and i find that so many other woman are suffering from the same symptoms all different ages. So obviously it does not disciminate. I was growing scared it was cancer or something. Something has to be wrong to carry this on going pain whether small or big, pain its still a pain that has been occurring for so long and no one can tell me what to do about it?? Now that being said I suggest good hydration, less soda, less unhealthy dieting, greasy foods ect. When the pain comes drink lots of cranberry juice and lots of water and good bowl movement 1 to 2 a day at least.. drink prune juice oppose to laxatives, or eat some fruit or mangos. Until these "DR." can tell us what the hell is going on? I believe mine to be a hydration, and bowel movement thing. Though there are times that I am hydrated or believe myself to be and the pain still exist, but i definitely believe i have gotten it under control as much as possible not completely gone but less is better. I also suggest a Colonic cleanse, a detox, or something just to give your body a fresh start and take it from there. Hopefully we can get help soon.
i have the same simptoms for about two years. please let me know if you find out what the pain was from. so sorry to hear you are having this problem.i know how bad it is. Hope you are feelind better.
Wow! I have the same symptoms...sharp pain, left side going down the descending part of what seems as my colon. Its about 30 minutes apart. I have had CT scan, MRI's, Ultra sounds, you name it!! I decided to look at this as an auto immune disorder (I HAVE NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH THIS) and I stopped gluten ALL together and it is HARD! But since then the PAIN WENT AWAY!! Coincidence? Maybe, but its good enough for me! Gluten wasn't all that great for me anyway!
