I also have suffered from the left side lower pelvic pain for some years now. I have a tubal ligation and the novasure ablasion. I am seen by a Gastro to treat IBS and Idoiopathic Cronic Constipation (which means they don't know) Anyway, the Gyno has said I may have a syndrome called post ablasion syndrome and I can either tolerate and medicate since this happens at most once a month for 1 to 5 days. I am 47 so close to perimenopause I kinda want to wait it out.. Anyway the reason I replied is the fact that you are on a drug used for IBS. I am currently on 2 drugs which work somewhat for my issues-Amitiza and a new drug called Linzess. This is another avenue to pursue..thanks to all for the information.

I know this reply is extremely late but I have had the same problem, extreme pain in the left part of my lower abdomen/ pelvis, for 3 1/2 years now. It started when I was pregnant with my son. My whole pregnancy, the Dr kept telling me it was just my ligaments in my belly stretching, well my son will be 4 in November, hardly doubt anything is still stretching. I have had ultrasounds and they have showed I do have cysts on my overies but on the right side, not left. I do have endometriosis and interstatial cystitis for about 10 years but those are under control, however nothing i have done or the dr's have done or gave me have helped with this pain. They told me that sometimes it can mean you have a problem with your bowels also but I've not had much luck finding anything out and since I now do not have any health insurance, I have pretty much given up all hope of ever figuring this out and have just been trying to cope with the ongoing pain. I would really love to have some kind of answers and am hoping someone out there has some because without insurance I cannot afford to keep having meaningless test ran. I'm so frustrated and tired of hurting all the time without any relief and having Dr's looking at me like i'm crazy. PLEASE tell me someone out there has at least gotten some kind of helpful diagnosis.

I have been googling information on, "Pelvic pain, left side," and came across this site.  I, like all posts above, have excrutiating pain on my left side.  It began in March 2013 so it is fairly new to me.  I went to my primary care office who said it was most likely muscular.  I then wne to my ob/gyn over a month later who pushed on my abdomen a few times and said most likely muscular.  I didn't believe it but went on my way, frustrated.  Less than 2 weeks after my ob/gyn appointment the pain became unbearable again and I noticed very light spotting (I no longer have a cycle as I had an ablation when they removed a uterine polyp in 2011).  I immediately called my primary care as I know muscular pain does NOT "spot."  They ordered a CT of the abdomen and pelvis which came back normal.  Tomorrow I am scheduled for an ultrasound.  Although I very much want this to be "nothing," I know my body and I know that I'm in pain.

I have 3 young children and need answers!  I work full time and am tired, frustrated and having my work interrupted as a result of this.  I suspect they may find an ovarian cyst (from the first day I would describe this pain by saying, "it feels like someone is literraly twisting my ovary the way one would ring out a wet towel.")  I pray they find an answer.  Thus far I have politely declined all pain medication.  I'm trying to grit my teeth and work through it.  For the posters above, I will say that 2 years ago an MRI showed I had a crushed disc (L5/S1) in my back.  I didn't have it checked until I literally couldn't bend over my counter.  I'm wondering if the pelvic pain could be related to my crushed disc.  Just a thought for others. Have you had your back checked?

My pain is mostly the twisting feeling but sometimes radiates into my hip.  If anyone gets any answers, please post!!  In the meantime, know you are not crazy and you are not alone.

I've been having similar pain and related issues to everyone posting. My doctor thinks it's caused by an excess of estrogen. I take apple cuder vinegar evey day to help release extra estrogen, miralax to nake bowel movements easier and 800 mg ibuprofen every day. They've helped ease the symptoms somewhat. I go for a follow up ultra sound tomorrow to see if a cervical polyp has grown and to see if the ovarian cysts have ruptured. Fast food and red meat makes my symptoms worse. A heating pad relieves the worst of the pain. I don't agree with 'living with it.' If estrogen therapy helps, I'll post about it. Cheryl

Hello, I have been having similar symptoms over the past 7-8 months off and on. Doesn't seem to be any pattern to the pain. I have had chronic low back pain, pain in both of my sides from above my hips spreading into the mid to lower back, and alternating, what I call "ovarian pain", although my gyn said it was fallopian pain. I have had just about every test, scan, lab work imaginable, and nothing was able to be ascertained from it. I was also having generalized body pain but not sure if related or not. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in March. The other pain, similar to yours, my gyn came to the conclusion that it may be caused from adhesions and had me undergo an exploratory laparoscopic surgery to look for them as well as removing both fallopian tubes on Feb 7th. There were extensive adhesions removed as well as both of the tubes, unfortunately it did not relieve my pain. I have went back to my gyn and she referred me to another doctor in the offfice who does robotic hysterectomies but will leave at least my right ovary in place as to not interfere with my hormones because I am only 43. Beforehand, he has scheduled me for a sigmoidoscopy which doesn't look as far up in the colon as a colonoscopy, just to rule out colitis or any other colon issues. I am scheduled for that procedure next Monday and he wants to see me right after he gets the results. If nothing is found then he said we will do the hysterectomy and leave the right ovary in since most of my pain has been in the left. It feels more like a stabbing pain, kind of similar to ovulation but more painful and different enough that I know that is not what it is. It is extremely frustrating and depressing, as well as exhausting physically and emotionally to go through all of this and not be able to get an answer as to what is causing it unfortunately. I also have two children, but am unable to work due to the pain and increase in anxiety I have been experiencing. Hoping to find an answer soon. Don't know if this helped but just wanted you to know that you are not alone. Hope they find an answer for you in the near future.

i have no answer but i also have the exact same pain... its been going on for over two years now. I believe its just a horrible infection thats triggered by as you say a hot bath. When i first noticed the burning sensation in my left pelvic gland area i literally thought i had caught myself on fire but there was ABSOLUTLY NO WAY i was. Ive encountered three e.r. visits all with no answers. they send me home. call me two days later saying i need to rush over to the local clinic and get treated for std's immediatly! So far over the past 6 months ive somehow gotten herpes, chlamydia, BV and trich...??? The herpes im stuck with but the others ive gotten the antibiotics for. Now i just finished my last pill two days ago and since then that burning pain has been more constant than ever. It takes me to my knees sometimes. Ive never been on birth control and i had an abortion in 2009. I was also diagnosed with PID. They tell me scar tissue also causes pain. this pain is someting that scares me. especially when i keep researching and researching and all i get is nothing but females with similar symptoms but no answers.
One thing that id do is go to your local pharmacy... walgreens. Look for Crystex. It is urinary health liquid in a white bottle. But it has the ingredient D-Mannose in it which is something that can go way deep in between your organs and collect the bacteria that antibotics arnt able to reach and it cleans that way. Not saying it helps with the pain or i have no proof that it does but ive stuck with that everyday and my kidneys do alot better which allow my days to not be so depressing... for five years all i do is sleep and i cant stand it. Thank you for listening/;

Have any of you been tested for kidney stones? I was sent home 5 times from the ER before finally going to a different hospital and they finally did the correct test.  I had two impacted kidney stones and was in the hospital for a week.

Hi,

I normally go to a chiropractor because I have scoliosis and today I told her that I had a sharp pain in my lower left region of my abdomen. She pushed and prodded until she found the exact place where the pain was and I still had a dull pain. She physically manipulated the spot and the dull pain went away. She said it was a stomach valve that was pushed out of place and she fixed it. I was so surprised. I told her that I almost did not say anything about the pain but I'm glad I did.

I am a 16 year old girl and I have been feeling these same exact symptoms for over 3 weeks now, except the pain is on my right side. I had kidney stones last spring so I thought they came back when I first felt the pain. I went to the ER the same day. The found nothing on my CT scans and prescribed oxy and sent me home. Since then I have had multiple doctors appointments. All of my blood, urine, and ultrasound tests have come back completely normal. My doctor thought I had an ovarian cyst but when they checked my ovaries, uterus, kidneys, stomach, and intestines during my ultrasound and found nothing. It is so frustrating since the pain is very sharp and comes randomly. Sometimes it will move below my rib cage or to my back but it is almost always in my lower right abdomin. I dont know what to do anymore. I keep missing school and now my mom thinks i am making this up. My doctor thinks this is due to stress but i think its more. Any answers would be helpful, I am so exausted of this constant pain!
