I actually many times start (slightly) sweating on the sides of my nose even just THINKING about spicy foods..very strange. Not sure of the reason although I've always thought it had something to do with the whole "Pavlov's Dog" thing? Anybody else out there like that? Of course I also sweat when eating them, though nothing all that abnormal I don't think as I've known lots of people who do.

Wish I didn't, but it's really not a huge deal more just an annoyance.

A while ago one of my friends was making fun of me for not being able to handle hot foods, so in an attempt to prove him wrong i starting constantly eating spicy stuff so i could build an immunity to them. couple weeks later i went to a restaurant with him and a couple other mates and i started telling them all how i could handle even the hottest foods now. the guy told me to have some hot chilies that were on the table and i confidently agreed... but of course when i started eating, litres of sweat started pouring down my face even though it wasn't too hot. All my friends laughed their heads off and i felt like an ass... i've stopped eating hot foods now cos i'm too embarrassed :-(

what a great topic! it reads like a sweaty-spicy-food-lovers anonymous meeting.
i too sweat when i eat spicy and i love spicy food... i had no idea there were so many like me out there!
perhaps we've evolved this way for a specific reason - like one poster suggested - eat spicy food when you're sick to 'sweat it out'. OR maybe:
"The chemical capsaicin, a component of spicy foods, is what causes sweating. It does this by stimulating nerve endings in the mouth and tongue that, normally, only respond to a rise in body temperature. As a result, the brain receives a false signal that body temperature has risen. This initiates the chain of physiological events that leads to the sweating of the face. ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed

There are 3 types of bodies:

1) the ones those accept Pure food (Sattvic quality)
2) the ones those accept Hot and Spicy food (Rajasic quality)
3) the ones those accept Heavy food (Tamasic quality)

the reason for u sweating from ur head is because: ur body type is the first one (Sattvic).

The bodies that accept Sattvic quality food are considered to be the best to achieve higher states of Consciousness.
(Sattic bodies: This is y u sweat from ur head - as most of the energy channels in ur head are open and therefore sensitive. Consuming too much Rajasic food and Tamasic food forces too much of energy through ur head resulting in blockages- this is a great hinderance to ur evolution even in the materialistic world)

U just should know what is best for u. Dont just go along with what everybody else is eating.

This might be very convincing at that moment but is a great hinderance to ur ultimate potential (which u will never understand if u do not re-analyze urself).

Try consuming Sattvic food for a few days and u will understand the reason.

Caution: Consuming Sattvic food makes ur bodies even more Sattvic and therefore even more sensitive to Rajasic and Tamasic foods.
Also, consuming Rajasic and Tamasic foods to make ur bodies more Rajasic or Tamasic will go into vain- as ur body type is Sattvic.
U can only attain peaks using Sattvic foods for ur type of bodies.

U might see a few changes in urself, like:
- ur thinking and sleep will be deeper.
- u will remember ur dreams.
- u will feel more aware and conscious.
- u will be more active.
- ur aura will become powerful (due to the rise of Ojas levels in ur body)
- ur life will be better.

Note: All this will happen when u are truly and actually are conscious of ur self in every action that u r involved in.
- Action is a thought in a grosser level.

when u understand this u will automatically do what is right for u.

This blog blows my mine. I was just asking people around the office at work if anyone had this condition where my head sweats when i eat spicy or hot food. One of my work mates suggested i google it and sure enough, here i am reading all your blogs about having the same thing. Has anyone really seek medical attention for this? I do have to say, i'm glad am not the only one here..

My problem is the same, severe sweating from spicy foods, salads with vinegar, ketchup, and yesterday a long long session of sweating from having weakened and drunk a large glass of fresh orange juice. And yet...............I do it. It is most uncomfortable. It is pretty much confined to to the face...........brow, chin, nose, and severe in the scalp.. I "suppose" it is not harmful, but VERY uncomfortable. I try drinking a lot of water too. Once it happened for many hours from frozen raspberries. Oh gee, there is something "sympathetic" because my face is starting to sweat from writing about it.

My experience yesterday with the OJ was really bad.........think I had 12 ounces. I ordered it in a restaurant ( fresh), figured it was a little glass. NO...........a big one, and I drank it anyway.

Yes.......it is quite uncomfortable. And, yet, I do it still.

Hi i also perspire on my scalp whenever i eat spicy foods and there's nothing wrong with that. It is still normal and not to be confused with Excessive Sweating. The stimuli here is the spicy foods that we take. However, Excessive sweating or Hyperhidrosis does not require a stimuli to sweat. You just sweat without apparent reason.

What we are experiencing is a normal body response to extreme heat and sweating is the process of cooling off.

Ok I'm not sure how old this question is but I Googl'ed "Sweating on the top of my head & hot peppers" and this is how I found this.

I thought I was the ONLY ONE but it looks like I'm not. The reason I looked this up was because I was watching The Food Network & the guy on TV was just talking about Hot peppers in a Spice Rub. There was NO whole peppers or anyone eating peppers but like clock work, my head starts to sweat (ONLY THE TOP OF MY HEAD) no were else.

I'm not sure why but it is a little freaky, and 1 more thing, as I am writing this and thinking of Peppers my head is sweating.
