I am 5'1" weight 128 lbs. Had a Myomectomy March 24, 2008 seven weeks later I still have a swollen belly. I am not pregnant. What should I do?
I would love to hear more about this issue. I'm almost 4 months post op from my myomectomy. My belly is not as big, but it will not go down. I literally have to starve myself to make a difference. Last month my 5 year old neice ask me if I had a baby in my belly. Oy Vey! Solutions please? Tell me that this eventually goes away.
I had a minilaparscopic myomectomy three weeks ago and the swelling in my stomach is almost gone. I had a large fibroid that enlarged my abdomen. Now that it's removed, my stomach is so much flatter. I looked pregnant before the myomectomy and now have my normal shape back.
Hi Everyone,
Is it normal to feel hardness around the area where incision was done for my abdominal myomectomy? If so, can i do anything to make it better or do i just do the waiting thing and eventually it'll get better? Does anyone have any advice???
I want o know more about this issue
I am 5 weeks post myomectomy and still very swollen. It was getting better at first but when I began walking and doing more it blew up. I look the same as before the surgery (about 3 month pregnancy size). I was told that the recovery is 4-6 weeks but I fell misled.. I wish I would have pushed the doctor to do it laporscopically. I am getting married in 3 months and do not want to look pregnant in my dress. When will this go down? What is typical. Is there ANYTHING I can do to go back to normal?? There is no fat in my stomach.. its just a hard bulge. :-(
:((( I am in the same boat here i had my operation nearly 5 weeks ago and i still look pregnant, my nice keep asking me all days when my baby is going to borne.
Any advice please.
Hi. I am 5 weeks post op. I had a myomectomy to remove 3 fibroids. My swelling had gone down, but this week it swelled up again. I mentioned to my husband that I was feeling some pain again and then I noticed the swelling. I also have a pooch above my incision. That got bigger as well. Has this happened to anyone?
I am having the same problem - one year later. My stomach is so huge with a protruding area at the middle incision area and I have gained 26 lbs just in the stomach area. I feel disgusted! I now wish I would've just did a hysterectomy since the procedure pushed me into peri menopause.
hi, not sure if this blog still active -
anyway here goes I had abdominal myomectomy almost 11 weeks ago, I also had cysts removed from my ovaries which did not show in MRI scan, definitely noticing improvements, had a period which was fine, every day however still experiencing what I would describe as swollen tummy - I have IBS so know its different feeling to bloated. I am only walking at ,moment for exercise hoping to start swimming and to return to yoga soon too. I had a vertical cut because of size of massive pendulated fibroid so still wearing high waisted clothes/underwear! I have seen pictures of myself past few weeks and catch myself in mirror sometimes and aware that I look I have a pregnant tummy at times, so frustrating! does anyone else who has had this experienced swelling after surgery? I wouldn't say its sore or painful just uncomfortable and a feeling of tightness/pressure! also was anyone given timescales of how long to wait to TTC?
if anyone is reading this and they are still to have surgery, please don't be too scared, I can understand how you may feel as I was terrified however it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. all the best to everyone who is going to be and who has gone through this, xx Karen Xx
Hi Karen
I had my myomectomy 2 weeks ago. After 8 years. I was lucky enough to fall pregnant with the help of ivf however I was unlucky to grow a huge fibroid aswell which nearly cost both of our lives. Resting is hard with a toddler and I'm extremely sore and still very swollen. ( my tummy is enormous!). I wish you all the best on your ttc and speedy recoveries to all xx
I am 5 wks post and I am experiencing the same swelling...my stomach was flat after the surgery but I noticed in the past couple of days that the swelling is there...it seems several of us have this issue not sure what the resolution is
I too have a pooch, however its only on one side of my stomach. Under the incision, it feels hard as though it has keloided. I am going to the Dr tomorrow for my 6 week post op appointment, hopefully I'll have some answers.
Hello,
Just wondering how did your six week check up go? I am four weeks post open and still a little tender with the hard incision as well.

hi all, I am 4 approx. 4 months post surgery, everything fine - periods, bladder, bowels, intercourse a lot more comfortable (as there is more space I am guessing?!) however still feel tummy hard and bit swollen at times - notice more when I am very tired and need to go for a bowel movement. I am d/charged from Gynaecologist service now however seeing my GP again Tuesday to ask advise and see if need re referral for check up. I had spoken to a DR on ward that I was on before I went on holiday few weeks ago for advice before going away and she had said that what I was describing was not abnormal and no one is textbook case in terms of recovery it varies for every person. did anyone have any advice re when/timeframes would be okay to t.t.c - I was told 4-6 months very vague!! I was also told that I would only be able to deliver by C section if/when became pregnant because of risk of uterus rupturing because of size of incision, anyone else told this?? it really is such a pain and rubbish that we had to experience this when some people just get pregnant, don't have tummies/pouches to deal with! sorry negative thinking is not helpful. I wish everyone else well and a speedy recovery xx
