what drugs are you getting from your doctos you all complain of knee and anckle swelling but know one says what you got from your doctors
I had severe swelling in my knees - could hardly walk.
I gave up sugar, white flour, spaghetti and started eating lots of salad, protein shakes, vegetable juices and a little fruit. Very healthy stuff.
Started taking Solgar joint treatment with Hylauronic Acid, collagen, MSM and Glucosamine.
Started drinking Apple Cider Vinegar made by braggs.
Two tablespoons with a tablespoon of honey and a teaspoon of Aluminum free baking Soda - My knees are back to normal sizewise and I have more flexibility than Ive had in a while

Hey Mike, Was your swelling periodic or constant? What prompted the change in diet and was there a methodology to it, eg alkaline diet or just overall healthy?

I happened upon this site and am awstruck by the similarity of these symptoms. I too have had toe, ankle, knee, lower back pain. No rhyme or reason. Sometimes left side, sometimes right. Often times just pain and inability and other times swelling that comes and goes. I work on my feet (12 hr shifts), but took the past couple weeks off and it continues. I have had recent dehydration and kidneys feel like they took a hit. I also eat alot of asparagus. My husband has had eye inflammation lately. Viral? Going for blood workup this week. Probably end up seeing Rheumatologist. Interested to hear about thyroid connection. My thoughts.....uric acid, elevated myoglobin, lupus or other auto-immune related disease, lyme disease, vascular issues?????
Hey I know this is an old post but I am 26 yrs old.. my right knee and left ankle swelled at same time.. I dealt with it for months untill I literally couldn't walk.. my left knee then swelled.. have been to hospitals and they drained 58ccs from my right knee and said nothing else was wrong. I have been on a walker several months at home. At work I just have to push myself. Doc ran blood work and white count was high but rhuematoid factor was neg.. uric acid was great.. she ran for all auto immune diseases and everything good. My knees and left ankle are always swollen. They don't ever go down and hard to walk without pain. If n e one does come up w an answer plz post bc its been a year and at 26 I should not be crippled! Thanks to all who posted I thought I was the only one going through this!
I have read all these posts...........I have some similarities but not exact. I began 4 YRS ago with swelling in my left knee. I noticed the pain prior to the swelling. I had no fall, no injury. After couple weeks, i went to doctor who began doing various treatments including electric stim, ice/heat, steriods, etc. After a couple months and no relief he recommended an MRI. That showed a "bakers cyst" and torn miniscus. I went to an ortho, who decided to use scope surgery to repair the miniscus. Afterwards, it never got better. 4 yrs and 3 surgeries later, I still have the same problem. The 3rd surgery was Nov. 2o11, and actually once healed, lots of PT, I had about 6 months of no pain. the size remained but at 40+ yrs old I didn't care about size, so long as I had no pain. Unfortunately in Feb 2012, i started the same exact thing in my left ankle. it has progressively gotten worse. Now the knee is back to extreme pain as well. I have been to 3 ortho's, 2 rhumatologists, had so many blood tests, MRI's, etc. No one can figure it out. They have decided to start from scratch and I quite honestly am not up to all that again. I have no issues with my eyes. I have had so many steroids orally and injected, that the endoccrinologist I am now seeing has said NO MORE. I am border line for diabetes from all the steroids. Be CAREFUL with all those. I have been treated with various RA drugs, OA drugs, etc. NONE have hellped. I have been tested for lymes disease, std's, the entire gambit. NOTHING. Anyone find anything more out yet?
Reiters syndrome? Try that
I am 26 and have the same issue. did u ever get it resolved. mine is in my left knee and ankle. I use crutches for three weeks now and cant work. have done mris and xrays.and been to ortho. i need help
Swollen ankles, swollen knees, joint pain, that comes on suddenly can possibly be sarcoidosis. I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist 2 years ago after general practitioners had no clue. Unfortunately, I still have the swelling but less pain I have been taking vitamins, supplements & aleve. Rheumatologist couldn't give me any advice on how to decrease swelling. Sarcoidosis can be a short term or long term auto immune disorder. Some people flare up once and never again. Unfortunately, I think mine recurs especially when it is cold outside.
Hey mike.. my doc currently has me on vicodin 1000mg.. they help but don't take it away.. and she had me on prednisone and while on it I didn't have to take any pain pills at all.. but the weight gain was unbearable.. hope this helps..
Omg, I am experiencing exactly the same problems for 4 years now :( I am 28 and feel like its having a really negative effect on my life- can't do exercise, can't swim or run. I feel awful and keep on hoping that one day someone will find whats causing it to treat it. so far nobody managed to diagnose my problem.
wow.....i thought i was being a baby....ive been having alot of problems with my eyes...one more than the other.........waters ALOT...sometimes cant evn see........im a waitress going to work in pain.. of course i just moved into a house with stairs
I have the same problem in my left knee, but no eye problem. After long months of recurring problems, I finally hit on a website that has found the cure for me. I have prepatellar bursitis that I kept injuring because I didn't take care of it properly. Check it out and I bet many of you on this website will find you have the same disorder. Just type in prepatellar bursitis in your search window and it will bring you to many websites describing the symptoms and the cures. I am well on my way to no pain or swelling, and I bet many of you will find relief, too. Good luck with your endevours, and I hope you all get the same benefits that I'm finally receiving.
Look for ankylosing spondylitis
