After my middle child was born I suffered with horrible itching that I thought would drive me insane! The best part of intimacy was having the "itch" satisfied temporarily. After a year of being treated for yeast (i apparently have it ALL the time but it is asymptomatic... This was WAY different!), they did a biopsy to rule out cancer and told me I had lichen sclerosis which is a thinning of the skin. It has telltale white patches. I received a RX for a cream (Synalar) which promptly made the symptoms go away...praise the Lord!!! I had little trouble with it over the next 26 yrs and now, all of a sudden, it has reared it's ugly head. The Synalar now costs $400 and insurance won't cover it, however the generic RX's don't touch it!! I too have swelling of the hood /clitorus. I'm sure I have aggravated it some trying to ease the itching by carefully rubbing and not itching, but this is the most awful thing I've EVER experienced! I'm now using triple-antibiotic ointment so I can urinate without wanting to scream!! I have a call in to the gynecologist for another prescription alternative. Praying for relief for ALL of us...

I have all these issues everyone is talking about itchy swollen areas but no yeast or bacterial infection. I hate to be the person with bad news and I'm not saying this goes for everyone but I would get a blood test to see if you have the herpes virus. You can have herpes and not get the horrible blisters and just the itchy swelling all over. Unfortunately that's what it was for me after going to multiple doctors.

Hi I'm 16 years old And about 4 days ago I started getting and itchy vulva, my clitorous is swollen to double the size and I'm getting a thick discharge that is creamy coloured when wet and yellow when dry, it's painful when having intercourse, and it's really uncomfortable and red, I don't really want to go to the doctors and have someone look at my privates, and recommendations as to what I can get from the pharmacy?

Hi guest, why don't you not want a doctor to see your vagina when it's there job and seen hundreds but your have sex and let a guy see it?
It sounds like it could be a yeast infection you have but without seeing its hard to diagnose your ad safes to go to the doctor and get it checked out.

It sounds like a UTI. 9 out of 10 times thats what it is.

my left side of my vagina is very swollen, and bright red. But it is only the last side - there is a line through the middle where the swelling disappears and my vagina is normal. This only appeared yesterday, after my partner and I were engaging in sexual activities whilst i was quite dry down there. The swelling has gone down a lot but i don't want to tell anyone as i am quite young

Hi, it's probably been caused by friction more on one side than the other if you wasn't turned on and wet enough.
The swelling should go down in a few days in the mean time avoid any sexual activity including masturbation. You should always use a water based lubricant if you find your having trouble getting aroused and wet before you start having intercourse next as that will stop the friction.

Hi, my name is Julie. Stumbled upon your response because I'm having a similar issue to the 17 year old. I'm interested in the natural remedies, do you mind helping me? Thank you!

Hi Julie, the post from PHhelp you replied to was written nearly 8 year ago and very unlikely that they still use the site now. If you are sure that what you have got is a yeast infection then there are a few natural remedies some woman saw work for them but that doesn't necessarily mean it will work for you to. If you like to give your symptoms what you are having then I'll see if I can help you with some of the ones that I know of :-)

Did you both have any luck or figure out what it was? In experiencing the same thing!

hello Ladies, I too have been experiencing some burning sensation above my clitoral hood. About a week or two before that, I had a lump come up but went away. Long story short. This burning has been going on about two weeks now. I do have concern because it's awful painful. I stimulate the clitoris during intercourse, I'm curious if this has irritated something under there. This is the second times its happened to me within a two year period. Around the same time of year also. Last year, it didn't happen, I was pregnant but had a miscarriage. I also had a UTI at five and did weeks. It returned this last month in February. I'm so confused....

Hi, does your clitoral hood or top of your labia look red or inflamed when it happens?

You probably have BV.

OH MY. Ladies - do go to the doctor. My doctor finally did a biopsy and diagnosed me with Lichen Sclerous - nothing to put off - it's an auto-immune disease and you have to treat it with a dose of steroid cream for the rest of your life. I still am experiencing burning of the clit and not sure what the heck that is about. So fun to be a woman.
