i am 16 and had mine removed september 23rd 2014. I'm very slim and play sports. i was sitting home one evening during the off season from basketball ( i had injured my knee and was given orders to avoid anything athletic until after the school year ended) when all of a sudden i got this horrible pain in my upper stomach ( my mom had just passed away from an aneurysm so i just chalked it up to the realization of my mom being dead finally hitting until the pain began to get worse) i told my grandma that i was in a lot of pain and she kept me home the next day and called the family dr and he said it could be her gallbladder so we were sent for an ultrasound which was normal and that upset me mostly bc they still had no idea what was wrong with me and everyone i knew except my friends and my dr would not believe me including my own family and my teachers (except my grandma she belived me) in july they finally got a HIDA scan approved and it showed chronic cholecystitis. i was so relived and scared at the same time bc i knew that word meant surgery. i was terrified. i told those who did not believe me that i was right and stuff and they finally began to believe me. on july 28th i had my first app with my surgeon and on aug 27th i had an EDG to check for peptic ulcers which was negative. there around the beginning of aug i could not do anything with out becoming extremely tired from my body not getting the nutrients it needed bc my gallbladder was only 32% functional. on september 23rd 2014 at 12:30pm ETD i was wheeled in to the operating room and put under general anesthesia for a laproscopic cholestectomy ( lap chile) or laproscopic gallbladder removal. when i awoke in recovery two hours later i felt the bandages and was like FINALY I CAN GET ON WITH MY LIFE. its been two months and I'm doing just fine.you will be fine too.you can tell a difference from the moment you wake up. i had so much more energy

Our 17 year old daughter has been having stomach issues for quite a while now. She also has acid reflux which contributes to her feeling horrible. She had the HIDA scan a few weeks ago, and it appears that her gallbladder isn't functioning properly. We are seeing a Specialist next week, because it sounds like they want to remove her gallbladder. I am so glad to hear that your surgery went well, and am wondering how you are feeling now. Have you changed your diet or anything else? Thank you...

Hi, if I where u I would totally wait, I had mine out in July of this year. I would wait another week, if the symptoms continue I would make an appointment with the GI dr, (the family dr can't really do anything really, he just sent me for an upper GI, and basically said i needed to see a GI dr. So I did. Also if the symptoms come after you eat, and it is extremely painful, I would request a hyida scan. It's basically like a CT scan, but they can see at what ur percentage ur gallbladder is working at. Hope this helps! I had mine out last year... It was really frustrating for me because no one could figure out what was wrong. Hope u feel better soon!
