Hey guys. Here is my yasmin & yaz experience...I was on Yasmin for a little over a year to control my terrible acne. It really worked great but because it was giving my migraines, 0 sex drive and depression I decided to get off of it. I was off for three months then my acne came back in full force. By now, I was suffering from chronic depression with homicidal thoughts. I would have these odd mood swings when I would cry like crazy for an hour then suddenly snap out of it and start laughing and smiling for no logical reason. I guess that Yasmin made me temporarily bipolar. When I went off of it for three months I was still depressed and my periods never returned to normal during that time. Because of my acne I was prescribed Yaz, thinking that the symptoms would not be as bad. Well, now I have been on it for about two months & I'm going to stop taking the pill starting from today. My depression and mood swings have slowly been building up. Yaz hasn't changed anything. If anything, I think that it may be making it worse...also I suffer from very bad blurry vision thanks to Yasmin. It gets so bad sometimes I am almost blind. This junk of a pill really needs to be removed from the market!

I have been on Yasmin for 3 and a half years and I have loved it. I went on Yasmin when I was 15 to regulate my period. Now I am 18 and have no experienced any negative side effects. I get no acne, my period lasts about 3-5 days, and I do not experience severe period cramps. I guess it just depends on the person!

I have been on yazmin for about 6 years. When I first started taking it, i had no issues; cleared my skin, periods were lighter, less painful, and lasted only about 4 or 5 days. I had no really visible weight loss or gain, but that could of also of been because i was still in highschool and quite active. Although, after i graduated, my boyfriend and i, have both noticed that i now have little to no sex drive even though i eat very healthy and exercise regularily. He always blames himself, that hes not attractive enough or that hes doing something wrong, which is definitely not the case. I cannot seem to lose weight no matter how hard i try and its very discouraging and dissapointing. I never thought my low energy could be because of the pill but as I have read from other womens posts that they have been more tired while taking the pill, i am starting to beleive that my lack of energy, despite everything ive done to increase it, could be a result of this pill. Now after reading all the posts about these dangerous side effects that i never knew about, i feel lucky that i havent had much worse but i am no longer taking my chances with this pill...im already upset enough because i have no sex drive and cannot lose weight, let alone wait to have something worse happen...

I too had a very bad experience with yazmin. I took it from 16 to 20 then i started to get electric like shocks through my head at night time where my head would jolt and my eyes would flicker uncontrollably i also started to loose my vision very suddenly and now have to wear glasses and my eye doctor has no clue why. I decided to go to the doctor and they said it looks like yasmin has been giving my miniature seizures and it may have caused my eyes to deteriorate! I have now been off Yazmin for 5 months and realised i was very depressed and had major mood swings when taking it. I am now so scared to take any other pill it has put me off completely

I have been on BC pills for over a decade, and just a little over a month ago switched to Yasmin (due to my irritability and mood swings on another pill).  I finished the first pack and:  I have had VERY uncomfortable chest pains consistently for the last 1.5 weeks, my left arm is feeling discomfort a well.  After reading all of the blogs about blood clots and Yasmin, me and my husband decided that I will stop taking this pill - immediately.  Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

I was on the implanon for 3 years and took it out went onto the yasmin pill for about two months I have had blured vision that has gotten worse as well as dots. I went to a optometrist and they told me I had cronic cornial disorder and it was going to cost me $1500 to fix. The only reason why I stopped taking the pill was I fell pregnant on it.

i started yaz last year as i was getting terrible bladder infections. my GP told me it could have been hormonal so they put me on Yaz to begin with. for the first 6 months i spotted nearly everyday and decided to come off of it. within a month a had "severe acne". i had never had bad skin or "acne" in my life.

i tried natural solutions for 6 months however nothing worked so i was advized to go on the stronger pill Yasmin to get rid of my acne. i am on it currently but am so scared by what i am hearing on the news. i have almost half of the side effects shown above and sometimes alot of pain in my heart area. ill definately be coming off.

fingers crossed my acne doesnt come back but i rather have bad skin for a few months than risk loosing my life to this horrible pill!

I just spent 8 hours in the ER today. I had loss/blotchy vision, nausea, and numbness is my hand. I have been on Yasmin for 5 days. I've had nausea almost everyday since I've taken the pill. I live in Taiwan and they hand this BC out like candy. I'll never touch Yasmin again.

Two months ago I went to the ER with agonizing stomach pain and vomiting. They immediately did a CT scan thinking it was my appendix. The ER doctor then tells me in disbelief that I have a ruptured spleen. From what? I'm not an athlete. Luckily the hospital decided to forgo removing my spleen.

One and a half months later I have had my gallbladder removed due to gallstones and gallbladder attacks. Finally I am told to visit a hematologist about my spleen, which is now being called a splenic infarction after a second CT scan. At first the hematologist is dumbfounded about why I have a blood clot in my spleen, even considering my gallbladder infection. He asks me to tell him once again about my prescriptions. 'I'm on Syeda'... 'generic for Yasmin'. The look on my doctor's face was priceless. He could not believe I saw my PCP, surgeon and countless other doctors and nurses. ... none of them thought twice about my birth control when they were scratching their heads trying to figure out what happened to my spleen.

Since it was only one day after finishing my period (and staying a new pack of Syeda), and obviously have had to go off them, my body is revolting against me. I have my period again, 6 days after finishing it. I have excruciating cramps, and can't take ibuprofen for the pain. Oh, yes, I am now on zarelto, a super expensive antI coagulant with terrifying side effects. I had an ultrasound done to see how much worse my spleen is now. My hematologist fears the damage will not be reversed.

All because I wanted to regulate my period and stop the debilitating pain. My gyn is reviewing the information from the hospital and the hematologist, and I am going she may have a recommendation for an alternative birth control that has significantly lower blood clot risk, and will help with the pain and irregular cycles.
