I feel relieved to read these posts. I too have these temple spasms about 4 times a day without pain. I have been suffering from tooth pain for 3 weeks about as long as the spasms and I was wondering if it relates to the nerves. I have 2 top back teeth that needs extracting and wisdom teeth are irritated. This has also affected my sinuses since everything connects. A previous post mentioned if u place ur finger on the temple and chew down, you can feel the same area move where the spasm occurs (this is true). I also believe it may be lack of potassium as prev mentioned since my eating habits are bad(I skip meals). My siblings also experience this and they too have dental issues. I wish you all the best but we do need to stop worrying Lol. I too used to chew gum ridiculously until my temple hurt Lol, I will continue my research and repost...
Wondering the same. I started with similar symptoms yesterday. Feels like a worm or vein moving for about 3 seconds next to my temple then goes away it happened to me twice yesterday. I don't eat meat often and haven't been out of the country so very worried
I have had a very similar experience that, over the past six years, turned into daily, debilitating tension headaches. After years of "western" medicine I found a massage therapist that I have been seeing twice a week for a couple months. I have had amazing results. Posture is a big part of it as well. What I have determined what my issue is the lesser occipital nerve, as well as others, being trapped in the muscles in the back and side of the neck. Find a massage therapist and have deep tissue massages done. They will hurt. Drink a lot of water before, after and all the time. I was sick for two days from all the toxins that were released after my second session since I didn't drink enough water. I also talk Magnesium every day.
I now feel like I am 10 years younger. Just be sure and find a good massage therapist that is excellent at deep tissue massage around the base of your skull, upper to middle back and your jaw as well.
Good luck to you all!!! I don't wish what I have been through on my worst enemy.
HEAD UP AND GOOD POSTURE ARE KEY!!!
Just to let everyone know....I have been experiencing the same thing for about 15 years....of & on. I get an MRI of my brain every year as I have a non malignant cavenous angioma in my brain from a fall. Everything has been stable all these years, which is great. Believe it or not....40% of the population has this situation. But....the feeling in my left temple is not related to that situation. I have been told that it is a muscle spasm. All of a sudden it feels like a pain....kind of like a clenching of a fist & then it goes away. If I touch my left eye is hurts a bit as well. It is in the left temporal area of my head. I was tested for Temporal Arteritis & blood work showed all is well. No matter what anyone tells you....it can be gas! When I pass some gas it relieves it. It is something that can happen every few months & go on & off for a day or so. I do have diagnosed TMJ. A person can have gas pockets other parts of their body other than their stomach. My Mom & I used to have a gas pocket in our shoulders & once we expelled gas it was fine. Of course it is a good idea to get checked out by a neurologist if it continues, This pain is not accompanied by a headache of any kind. The neurologist described it like a "rams horn"......sometimes the pain goes from the side of my face to the temporal area like a rams horn, If there was a tumor, etc it would have showed in the many MRI's I have taken over all of these years. It is infrequent.....but always freaks me out. It does go away.....4 doctors said it is a muscle spasm. I can truly understand the worrying. I know when it happens I think the worst & start to get anxious. I will say that I have a lot of stress in my life & I believe stress makes us more sensitive to these muscle spasm....just like twitching of ones eyelids.
I'm having the same issue and this is the first time ever in my life something twitch in my head and it's on the right side near the temple and above my right ear. What could it be? I'm scared and nervous...
I felt the same sensation upon waking up this morning with it continuing throughout the day. I remember waking up to clenching teeth from intense dreams and do have a history with TMJ. I was massaging my temple and upon reviewing an article about TMJ, I started massaging my masseter muscle as well
Surprised to find that upon massaging this muscle, it relieved the temple area immediately as well.
Hope this helps someone.
