I had it done 6 weeks since and got a really bad post op infection, am still struggling to get the pain under control, am taking dihydrocodiene and paracetamol and sat with hot water bottle on sofa, if I go out i have heat pads on. Am signed off work sick still as I do quite an active job. I am 33 and have suffered years with heavy periods which I have also had time off work with. I can't have children, so was ideally pushing for an hysterectomy as I had tried every medication under the sun. But they told me I had got to try the ablation first. Its the worst mistake I ever made, its even affected my sex life as its left it too painful to have sex. My partner rang the gynae ward for advice with the contact numbers we had been given and they just said tell her to keep taking painkillers if she is not soaking a pad in half an hour we dont need to see her. I dont have a follow up scan till july and then in november I have a follow up questionnaire, I dont see consultant again.
Did you get a hysterectomy done?? If yes, are you better now?? Wondering cause I'm going through the same thing and was told I have to get a hysterectomy
Your story is such s huge help for me so I thank u a million times for sharing. I had an ablation in May and last month I had intense pain in my left abdomen side. Ultrasounds and exams showed normal stuff. I had an infection and got antibiotics. Pain subsided for 10 days or so and now it's back. I was still getting my period up until this month. My obgyn suggested it may be ovulation pain. I want to go to ER but there's no point bc I know they won't find anything. I'm definitely going to talk to my gyno about the trapped blood. Thank u so much. This pain is debilitating!! Almost like active labor contractions. Like one minute I'm hobbling along due to pain n the next I'm doing all I can to not collapse from intense surging pain in my ovary.
I had my tubes removed and hydro ablation November 2014. Repeat ablation in May 2015 to release trapped blood. Now it's back. Ultrasounds repeated. Two 1 inch diameter blood pockets are trapped. Headed back to the OR in January 2016. In the meantime, pain. Constant, throbbing pain. When I went back to the surgeon he acted like I was crazy, there no way it could have returned. So he reluctantly ordered the ultrasound, which he showed to me. Denied pain meds, have to wait a week to see my GP.
I had the nova sure ablation done about a year and a half ago because of very heavy periods. In October I went to my primary care Dr for severe pain in my pelvic area. They did xRays and a sonogram and said I had a really bad infection. I had to go in the next day for a shot and antibiotics for 2 weeks. They told me to follow up with my Obgyn if didn't clear up. Well I only got worse, severe pain. When I finally got in to see my Obgyn, 3 weeks later, they did a sonogram and said you don't have an infection your uterus and Fallopian tubes are filled with blood. They dialated my uterus to get the blood to drain, unsuccessful. A week later, 2nd attempt to dialated my uterus and it worked. Now in February they are filled again with blood. When the sonogram is performed at your Obgyn office they will be able to diagnose this problem. My next step is hysterectomy. It is so hard to even describe how painful it is when your uterus and Fallopian tubes are filled with blood.
Ablation in March & by Aug I started having regular and not cyclical menstral cramping and fluid retention. They did a transvaginal ultrasound and found a mass. Doc believes it's pooling of the blood in area from scar tissue. Doc wants to try office procedure first to try to drain this area. Sounds like more pain. Proly TAH in my near future as this sounds more like a let's try this first.
Will you have to have routine D&Cs? I had an ablation one month ago. I'm currently in the middle of a heavy period. I had discharge up until my period started. When the period began, I started having unusual pain, like a heaviness in my lower abdomen. It almost felt like something was going to fall out! Now the pain has migrated to the right of my belly button. I'm fine if I don't move, but moving is uncomfortable and I'm having a lot of pain when I try to wipe my bum (hurts worse when I stretch). I'm trying to get an appointment but haven't had luck yet and don't know what to do. Should not have let them talk me out of a hysterectomy! I'm 38 and finished with child bearing. :( Any advice would be appreciated. Doesn't hurt enough to go to ER, but I'm afraid something is really wrong.
Im 4 months post op and once a month i experience the same pain for days its unbearable
My doctor suggested removing my fallopian tubes.
First of all I’m so sorry to hear so many women are struggling still after having the Endometrial Ablation ‘terrible’
I also had the Novasure in August 2017 after the procedure it took them 5 hours to get my pain under control which was horrendous I felt like I was burning inside - sounds dramatic I know but I have quite a pain threshold I’ve been through some serious medical issues in my life but nothing felt so raw before.
Any way after a month all the discharge and cramping stopped which was great then jumping forward a few months I was telling everyone it was awful but actually the best thing I had ever done because I was no longer having to wear three sanitary towels and ruining my clothes and scared I was going to bleed through my uniform at work I felt all of that was behind me at last after years of debilitating periods.
Then just on Wednesday this week I was getting ready for bed and had brown discharge in my pants I honestly couldn’t believe it as I had no pain or cramping to suggest this may be on the way ... I was so upset honestly Thursday my pain was at a peak it felt like contractions went to my GP who said she couldn’t see any bleeding but started me on antibiotics just in case there was an infection - took swabs and did a smear (pap test) just to add to the pain - it’s now Friday and I’m honestly climbing the walls not slept all night my lower back is throbbing and my tummy just feels like I’m having contractions constantly (had two children) not sure what to do - the NHS is under so much pressure don’t want to waste their time going to a&e and my GP just told me novasure doesn’t always work ‘helpful’
