It's okay. I'm 43 years old and I've had these little episodes many times and they are totally harmless. They happen much more frequently when we are teens, but they happen less frequent as we get older.
No one seems to know why they happen, so seeing a doctor usually just confuses everyone and they may try to treat you for something you don't have.
The only thing that you should do is try not to let them stress you out. Go ahead and tell your parents and show them this forum to help them understand that it's harmless and you are definitely not alone!!! or crazy!!!!!
Thanks for putting this up I'm 14 about to turn 15 and some of these things r what I have now I get this thing where I can't see out of 1 eyes so everything on that side becomes numb so I have to sleep and when I wake up I have a huge migraine so I sleep some more but it's hard to fall back asleep but when I wake up I feel ok and have to take it easy but the next day I'm fine I just wish that this would go away it gets in the way of school and life
That could be a migrane, which although bad isn't life threatening. But the thing about the loss of sight, you need to see a specialist STRAIGHT AWAY.
i get this is it anything to worry about?
after 6 1/2 months of these episode. Medicaal test after test. Doctor after doctor. My daughter has now been diagnosed with "conversion disorder".. not really sure how l feel about this.........
I have had these for as long as I can remember, and I too have never found anybody that understands when I am trying to explain to them when I speak of it. With age it has definitely decreased in frequency, but I just got one after a couple months and decided to Google it again. Here I am!
Mine comes with a strange but very distinct side effect of feeling like I want to or am biting a medium sized shard of sponge toffy throughout the duration. I do not feel the texture in my touch receptors, but I seem to be imagining the pressure part of it on my teeth, while knowing I'm not actually feeling it.
I get a slight pressure feeling in my chest and as said in other replies feel like I can do anything at a ludicrous speed, but knowingly cannot. Sudden extreme ocular focus on points and awareness of really anything around me. It feels like I am observing time speed by, but I know that nothing is faster than usual... Strange.
Have you ever found an explanation for what you experienced? My 14 year old daughter has been havng the same symptoms? Thank you for your reply.
I get it too! I never knew anyone else had them. I always would get it at random times and hen I think to myself it feels like I'm talking super fast. But then I lay there and it feels like everything around me is slow and I'm moving fast. I ask my sister if I'm talking different and she says no. I'm worrying that it may be something more serious. I also get a bad headache after the episodes. I get one like every month(im 15)
"I get a slight pressure feeling in my chest"?
I think you need to get this checked out, a sign of an impending heart attack is a great deal of pressure in the chest, so any pressure would make me worried,

I have the same "fast forward" feeling as well, from my observation on myself... they tend to occur when I'm tired or just before i get a flu
I just had this happen and decided to try to look it up. I'm 22 and it has happened as long as I remember.
For me, everything seems very fast, especially my thoughts. Also everything around me seems loud and urgent. I almost feel like I can process things at warp speed. It used to happen to me a lot at school as a child, especially in math class. Has anyone else had it happen a lot during schoolwork?
As for the possibility of low blood sugar, my boyfriend is diabetic and I've tested my blood before when it was happening out of curiosity, and it was always normal.
I just can't believe I've found this! No one ever knew what I was talking about when I tried to explain it.

I have had this since I was little. Now 22 and they are worse and scary. I have hit myself in the face once. But my doctor put me on Topamax and they got worse.
please don't 'dob' me in, i am a 15 year old girl and i get this feeling a few times each month. i had a nightmare - completely unexplainable - where there was a 'big space', but it wasn't really big at all, it was made up of..well, nothing, just something. I would be scared and try to mold something out of it...you see, this is why it is unexplainable, it's terrifying but not unless you experience it yourself. ever since, a few times each moth, i've been having these time 'speed-ups' in my mind. even when someone speaks to me, it sounds as if they're SCREAMING at me, and i can't handle it. sometimes sitting down and looking at a clock ticking, or listening to music would make it go away. it would only last a few minutes. i guess it used to scare me, but now it's just exciting, and i almost feel as if I'm actually speeding up time...but that's obviously not what's happening.
ANYWAY..my point is, has anyone found an answer to this? please help, i would love to know WHY it's happening. do I have a disorder??

Hi, try looking into Migraine Auras - and specifically 'Time Perception Disturbances' - it's little researched but I believe it's what it is.
Does your fiance suffer from migraines or migraines in the family?
