If this is only happening with fountain drinks for some of you, I can say from working at a gas station during college...fountain "drinks" come in a box that's essentially syurp flavoring, the box has an opening at the end that gets hooked to a hose, when a cup is filled in a fountain station you press on a lever that helps pump this syrup through the tubes cold carbonated liquid gets added to the syrup flavoring to give you "pop" at the other end, thing is, nobody ever cleans out those tubes. Sure, it could be a chemical ingredient in the plastic tubing itself, or some kind of molecular interaction between the ingredients in the pop mixing with the plastic but since those tubes don't get replaced or cleaned...chances are, it's a build up of bacteria or other one celled nasties making you temporarily sick after consuming them inadvertently along with your fountain drink of choice.
I've heard of the same phenomenon happening with beers on tap, especially at older bars because those tubes aren't cleaned out or replaced ever either.
So...stay away from fountain drinks altogether if you've noticed a correlation. It's like drinking from the excat same cup, everyday all day, for years but since the cup is always filled with fluid - you reasoned to not clean it but that probably sounds very unsanitary to you, as it should; that's what fountain drinks are: forever dirty cups.
Yeah man it's a common sign of kidney damage the acid from the sodas causes it to burn your kidneys
Fake suger is poison and Pepsi moved to Mexico....
I have the same issue!
I find your answer interesting. I have tried to work out why sometimes I'm sick after eating out at pubs and clubs. I'm religious with what I drink but it's always mixed with coke on a trap. It's been happen for as long as I can remember (over 25 years) and if I'm sick it's within hours of completing my meal and drinks.
The fountain machines. May not be cleaned properly. Bacteria. Is a main. Cause
I see this post is over a year old, but I, too have had the same issues with pop. I also have the issue when I drink my favorite coffee drinks or a dessert that is very sweet! Going in today to be tested! Diabetes runs in the family..
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!!!
This is truth. Right here. I have found that anything with high fructose corn syrup will upset my stomach & I will be in the bathroom praying for it to stop. I've been done with them over a year now and I certainly do not plan to add them into my diet ever again. Wishing you all the best of luck
Having an upset stomach after drinking soda could be because there is too much carbonation in your soft drink. It could also have been led to if you are drinking your soda too quickly. The best solution is to drink it slowly, and if you need to burp don't hold it in.
I drank half of can of Rootbeer and my stomach is also killing me and I don't know what to do. Just drinking a lot of water and two anti acid tablets.
I have a question ..... When a soda is left in the car & the weather is hot .. can the soda give you diarrhea? Because my nephew drank soda out of his dads car & the next day he has massive diarrhea? Is it virus or it was cause of the soda ?? Please help me
Thank you. Yes!!!!!
It could be high fructose corn syrup (one of the major ingredients in most sodas and sweet drinks). The syrup is extremely bad and unhealthy, and if you've never consumed it before, your body may not know how to react to it. We were never meant to have sugar in our body, and just a little bit of the syrupy concoction is horribly worse than sugar.
It may be the artificial sweeteners. Aspartame is notorious for causing reactions in people. Same with any sweetener ending in 'ol' sorbitol, mannitol, etc.
