About 15 years ago I had a problem with urinary frequency, accompanied by flu-like symptoms - chills, achiness, occasional low-grade fever. I had many episodes; sometimes a UTI was involved and it was cleared up with antibiotics, but it always returned. I noticed many times it was triggered by drinking my favorite beverage, coffee. My GP said I have a very small uretha (or possibly a kink). He did a few dialations of my uretha, but the pain was terrible, and my problem returned. He then referred me to a urologist, who also did dialations every month over about 6 months. He did not hurt me as badly. I also stopped drinking coffee, and the symptoms stopped. About a year later I cautionsly resumed my coffee, and had no further problems with the problem until about 18 months ago.
While on a trip, I was confined in a car for too many hours before a bathroom stop, and all my problems returned. I was at first diagnosed with a UTI and given antibiotics, which solved my problem for a short while, and then returned. As before, I noticed coffee seemed to trigger these symptoms, mainly of freqency and flu-like symptoms. I also have difficulty in urinating, mimicing a UTI, but the UA usually shows no infection. To make matters worse, I had suffered a stroke 5 yrs ago, and when I get this problem now, my stroke residual of sensations of body heaviness, tingling, etc. returns and I am truly miserable.
My internist (without examining me) and after my urinalsis returned normal, said I had a common malady of older women (I am 62.) She claimed dryness of the vagina was responsible, and put me on premarin cream. This did not solve my problem, in fact, I had pain in the vaginal area and spotting! (I had a hysterectomy in 2000.)
So, I started going to a urologist. He examined me, ordered a Cat Scan of my pelvic area, and all showed clear. I told him about my diagnisis 15 years ago, and he said dialations are not done routinely as they were years ago, however he did one - which did not help me at all and was VERY painful. He has also prescribed several different kinds of drugs for frequency - Sanctura, and a few more. but they don't help and make it more difficult for me to urinate.
The problem seems to have to just "run it's course", and takes a week to 10 days to get rid of. If I have any type of coffee, tea, even tomato juice, it returns. The other day I drank some aloe vera juice for my stomach in the morning, and this set it off again. My life is literally controlled by this problem.
Could you please tell me what might be my problem and what kind of doctor I should consult. I am desperate for help. Is there such a thing as a gynacological urologist?
Thank you.

To my knowledge no.
Why did you have ahysterectomy?
My daughter has had a lot of waterworks problems. She has also had her uretha stretched, but only once. It was done under a general tho.
It was done at the same time they looked at her bladder. Everything was fine in her bladder.
She to had flu/cold syptoms... head aches, sore throat, ear ache, neck pain, fever.
Once they thought she had menigitus an gave her a lumber puncher (horrible)
They tried it a second time but we refused it.
She is at the hospital tomorrow to have scans on her overies. She has very iregular periods.
She is 19
Her first infection was at 3. They stopped at 5
But started again at 16. We wondered if her becoming sexually active triggered it of again or pubity.
The infections have calmed down again at the min but her hormones seems mixed up now. She has really bad acne on her chin an around her mouth. She sweats really bad too.
Iv not made a connection to coffee an tea but she cant drink orange juice.

Can Lichen Sclerosis change the urethra opening? Sometimes when I urinate, my aim is not downward like usual but rather shooting sideways. Is this possible? It won't seal off, will it?
