I am writing this because I have just gone through two months of very unpleasant UTI symptoms and hope that my experience will help someone else out there with the same symptoms! It only took this long because it was so hard to find what was wrong with me, even though it is very common!!
Basically, it would sting for anything up to an hour *after* I had peed. I tried *everything*. Uva Ursi, D-Mannose, Cranberry, nettle tea, Alka Selzer, bicarbonate of soda, sugar free lemon barley, Apple Cider Vinegar, lime juice, no carbs and absolutely no sweet stuff, no caffeine, no alcohol. (I can't take antibiotics). And I *still* had these "UTI" symptoms! I didn't have abdominal pains, back aches or any other feeling of unwellness other than this infernal burning after I went to the loo and then the need to go almost straight away again!
I then stumbled across a thread saying that Candida Albicans (yeast overgrowth), can give the exact symptoms I'd been having! After some further research into this I ordered Acidophilus from Amazon. (Any health food store should stock these though) I started taking them two days ago. The very next morning after a lovely night of sleep, the burning was gone. I could have cried with relief!!! Why do GPs not know about this??? Thank goodness I can't take antibiotics because that would have made it so much worse!
Anyway, its still early days but bearing in mind that its been two days now with going to the loo normally, this is bliss! So far so good! :-)
You can test yourself for Candida very easily. Take a glass of plain filtered water (make sure it is not fluoridated or chlorinated). Leave it next to your bed over night. When you wake up in the morning, run your tongue around your teeth and gather a load of spit (I know, gross! no loogies from your lungs though!). Spit into the glass of water. Healthy spit should just float on the surface and stay there. If you have Candida, it will gradually start to "string" downwards. It may be cloudy and lumpy. It may have particles that will remain suspended half way down the glass. Some will "string" down to the bottom. This can take anything up to 15 minutes, sometimes longer. Anyway, the bottom line is, if its cloudy and stringy (like a jellyfish!! lol) you've probably got a candida overgrowth. Other symptoms may be a weird milky discharge from your lady bits. Not necessary itchy, but it can sting. Lethargy, short of memory. Cravings for sugar/carbs. Google it.
note: Acidophilus is a probiotic.
Anyway, hope this helps someone! :-)

Hi i am a 17 year old who does not partake in sexual activity in any way and about a week ago during a school trip i noticed that as i was peeing toward the end there was this odd sensation down there and it was a ache/throbbing sensation and it was just that for a couple of days. I drink alot of water regularly and my pee is really clear but during the trip i didn't and my pee was really yellow so i thought mabe i just needed to drink more water and i did when i got home. The sensation became less extreme but i could still feel a slight burn toward the end when i would pee but it was clear so i thought i was fine but now there is this weird throbbing feeling down there and its like this constant pressure and i didnt hurt or anything it was just odd and annoying and it only happened once in a while but gradually went away. I also noticed when i went to the bathroom the was this odd yellowish discharge down there. Now its turned into a constant throbbing/pressure like feeling down there and my entire crotch area kinda aches and when i lay down a certain way my lower belly and back ache as well. The feeling kind hurts now and its not going away and about an hour ago i peed a little in my pants and the feeling just came out of no where and i couldnt even hold it so im kinda scared now. Does anyone know whats wrong with me?
Hi there,
I have the same symptoms but for some reason my aching pain after urniation varies from short periods to long periods. For example, one day it will only be a few minutes then the next day it will keep me up all night. Any suggestions?!
Hey, I have been dealing with similar symptoms for 4 years, I'm now 15. I used to get UTIs when I was a kid and nowim having this burning sensation for ages and most of the time it doesnt change when i urinate only lately thats been happening, i used to just get a continuous burning and i would get it for hours, usually in the middle of school. Now im getting it at around 11pm and it wont go away until i take pain killers but now even pain killers won't work. I honestly dont know what to do anymore, its soooo painful and its stopping me from doing the things i love and from doing new things, i got it in the middle of a concert tonight actually and so i couldnt enjoy it.
Please someone help me and tell me whats wrong :(
Hi - What you're describing is exactly what I've been going through for the last couple of months. Did you ever find out the cause or find out how to treat this? Any info you could tell me is very much appreciated! So tired of this! Thanks!
- blood in the urine
-burning sensation while urinating
-can have bad smell
- severe pain in your back middle to base.
- even cramping.
if that's the case if you haven't already see your doctor immediately
Hey I hear you! The same thing happens to me after I pee and sometimes when I think about exactly where the discomfort is, I realize that it goes down from my vagina all the way to my foot. My mom says its from not drinking enough water. Try drinking a lot of water and cranberry juice and see what happens. Im sorry I know how uncomfortable it is, the discomfort has come and gone ever since I was a little kid. Its the worst when it happens in public or right in the middle of the day.
I think this is true. Mine started when the weather tuned. Cold and chill. Plus stress. Plus tampons aren't really ideal. They block things up and are easily forgotton.
You probably have PGAD. Google it. We have a suppirt group on FB,..no cure. Sorry
