This is a reoccuring problem i have. It occurs only slightly before my period, during, and then is highly irritating after my period. This problem first occurred after leaving a tampon in over night, and peeing frequently. It lasted several days, went away. And has continued to occur for atleast 6 months now.. Same time of the month, same way, and same basic areas with the same amount of discomfort, going away completely several days after my period. It feels as though its in the same place on my inner vagina, sorta itchy, but more irritating. It never spreads (good sign). Considering this began occuring before i was sexually active, and before anyone had ever given me oral I'm personally satisfied with the oppinion it is not caused my "herpes" Or anything of that manner. I recently went to my Gyno but she had no solutions or ideas of what the problem could be considering i had no signs of a yeast infect, bacterial infection, or of an STD. Based upon the fact i lost my virginity only recently to a guy that had been tested its safe to say im baffeled at what this problem is, and how to get rid of it. I've thought it might just be vaginal dryness that causes irritation (since i have an over active bladder and pee on a regular basis that has got to make me dry down there) that worsens near my period b/c of the added dryness throughout most womens periods.. do you think im right?

this is the same thing that happens to me. around my period, or even before, during and after, i notice that it's really dry, slightly itchy, and a little irritated. than it becomes full blown. it's red and swollen, very itchy, burning when peeing, and basically hurts all the time. then it goes away after 3 or 4 days. it always occurs around my period. i've been tested and i'm clean. it's not a yeast infection or an std. i'm clean but my doctor said it's an allergy to something. i don't know what is wrong with me!

I have this problem a few days before I start my period. I've been to my doctor and have been tested for everything under the sun to find the cause. I also have bone pain w/ the heaviest day of my period. Nothing came up in the tests and now I'm starting to have irritation right after I ovulate, 10 days before my period!

My doctor says it's hormonal and we change as we get older. I want relief, I'm going to go see another doctor.

It happens to me too. I went to the doctor, and seeings as I'm a virgin I wasn't particularly worried but I also just recently found out I was allergic to certain cosmetics and perfumes, apparently allergies can develop? but anyways, it's probably just the type of tampons you're using that's causing it, ask your doctor to suggest a type that would be good for you, try changing it up. Otherwise, try switching methods, pads or whichever. See if that helps :-)

hi this happens to me a week before my period is due i also get a white sticky discharge which makes it even worse im not sure of what it is and whats causing it but it is very annoying... is there anyone who knows...? there isnt anything to sooth it other than a cold towel my partner seems to think i get thrush all the time when in fact i have to sign of a yeast infection,

yeah the same thing happens to me as well. i have annoying irratation its like a burning/ichty feeling like cutting. it sucks it only comes on before my period and everytime when i walk i can feel the uncomfort..unless im doing something and i dont think about it. see the thing is that when i have my period the irratation stops all month around until my period comes on again. im a vergin and im sure its not a yeast infection so what i think it is for all of us ladies suffering form this problem is that its just a side effect of comming on your period like pms and cramping..i belive yogert helps and weing biggier panties and keeping ur vaginal area dry and clean helps... :-)

Ladies, I have had this problem for over 7 years. I have been tested for everything but strep e. It occurs only at the end of my period. My gynocologist can find NOTHING! My partner gets itchy and a bit of irritation if we have intercourse while I am having symptoms.
I have found that if you buy gynalotomin and hydrocortizone (mix each by equal parts) it takes away the symptoms. This was suggested by my gynocologist. . . .
I wish I knew what it was. And frankly I cannot find a gynocologist who can fix it. . . apparently they can't if this many of us are suffering from these symtoms. I have tried to find something on the internet but all the things they come up with do not quite stack up to what could be wrong. I have learned to live with it and abstain from sex with my partner when I feel that "tight" feeling prior to an outbreak coming on. If I put the cream on, it stops it before it gets to far. . . .
Maybe someday someone will come up with something that it could be. . . .

I was surprised when I searched for causes of vaginal irritation to find this string which described my symptoms exactly! It has only happened to me 3 times in the last year or so. I've had yeast infections before, but it does not feel like that at all! No discharge, not even really an itch, more like an iritation or what a paper cut might feel like (down there)....very irritating.....seems if I wear a skirt, it doesn't bother me as much as when I wear pants either.

Have not been to the doctor yet, but vowed to soon. My period is next week, so was planning to go after that, though the irritation usually stops after my period is over.

Just went to Walgreen's and bought the Gyne Lotrimin and Hyrdrocortisone to see if it will help the symptoms.

I have had this for the past several months. Mostly occurs for me at the end of my period and feels irritated, slightly itchy and dry. It occurred the first time after I accidentally bought and used scented mini pads. Ever since I have symptoms at the same time each month. I have found that a vinegar and water douche does help. I prefer not to use the gynalotrimum (sp?) cocktail if possible. Next cycle I plan to sleep on a towel and not wear underwear, tampon or a pad. also I plan to change to organic cotton products and will do some searches for natural hormonal balancing herbs.

See my post from today under, persistent itching of labia, with treatment; REMAINS!!!!!!
unfortunately the system won't let me post the same reply twice, but what I ended
being subscribed that actually worked and corrected the problem is Clobetasol .05% solution.
Yes it stings a little when first applied but it corrected the problem and the problem doesn't return.

Get yourself a prescription of Clobetasol .05% solution from a dermatologist. It works...

I've been told by a doctor that one shouldn't apply hydrocortizone to the genital areas... there are special creams to stop itching/burning sensations for instance clotrimazole...

I hate pills and otc medications. I have experienced these symptoms randomly over the years after my periods as well. I have tried using PLAIN Yogurt as natural as possible with as few ingredients as possible including the Good Bacterias, its has helped. use it just as you would a cream, best overnight or wear a liner. It helps to balance the natural bacteria.

Hi me too i am married and i never touched anyone even before my hubby, and he don't have any infection either..it started when u use always tampons, and sleep with it over night, and it always comes back everytime my period just finished. I was thinking could this be STD? how would i get it? and i read about std just to make sure, but its not. I was even having phobia using public restroom at school or somewhere just because i was thinking i might have gotten it from there. Its just burning itching like crazy, i want it to go away..i know vagisil helps but i really want to be irritation free and i dont enjoy after menstruation bec ii know here comes the worst part again so to speak..
