Another lady with this experience checking in. Had my colposcopy two days ago and I started noticing this weird tissue discharge and odd smell within the past 24 hrs. I was also told to wear a pad for the next two days and that I might have some blackish discharge from that mustard colored paste mixed with blood. But nothing about this. I just can't believe that our doctors wouldn't tell us about this, when is it clearly a super common side effect of the procedure.
HAHAHAHAHAHA OMFG IM LAUGHING SO HARD!!!
I had had a colposcopy done last spring after an abnormal pap and remember it as being very noninvasive and was told I could continue coming yearly for my PAP. After relocating, I had to find a new Gyno. Have a PAP, all things seem normal. I am informed that my results are abnormal and I am asked to return a week later for a colposcopy and possible biopsy. This time around was VERY uncomfortable.
I'm a pretty tough cookie when it comes to things like this, but it got to the point of the exam where I was having/feeling cramps like I never had before. I don't cramp during my cycle, so this was bend over in half wanting to curl up in the fetal position cramps. Male doctor, female nurse to supervise. After reading all of these previous posts, it seems that we were all very uninformed of the whole process. I was VERY uncomfortable during the process, the cramps were excruciating. My cervix sits father back then most. The doctor also was unable to take any sample from my uterus as I was already in so much discomfort. I became light headed, dizzy, and nauseous by the time they were almost done.
The 15min drive home was a nightmare, I wanted to curl up and lay on my side (I had to drive myself home). Once in my front door, I laid down in the fetal position. Put on some PJs and tried to sleep off the cramps. I was given some water and ibuprofen at the doctors office before I left.
I was informed of possible spotting or discharge of the dye used for the procedure. The day of and the days following there was no spotting aside from some of the "coffee grounds" from time to time that seemed ok (similar to later in my monthly cycle). Now three days later, after going to the restroom, I began to feel like I needed to pass something from my girl bits/va jay jay whatever term you are comfortable with. I looked into the toliet to see what looked like (thank god for these forums) what I would expect to be a 5in long to half an inch wide miscarriage, chicken skin, alien like brain mass, va jay jay poo, speckled with coffee grounds. I haven't been in pain or crampy since the day of the exam. Seeing this now three days later DEFINATELY had me worried. I left a message for my doctor to inform him and confirm that all things are normal (more like a SNAFU in my head) I hope this is the first and last of these kinds of discharge. I will try to repost if I hear of anything from my doctor. I just wish I knew that this was something to expect.
Side Note: it wasn't until I got home and was worried about the amount and discomfort of the cramping that I looked more into the biopsy process. I cannot look at a Biopsy Punch without wanting to get sick (ugh)
Just received a message back from my doctor confirming that the mass is most likely a combination of a blood clot and clotting agent that was used on my cervix to stop the bleeding after the procedure. Thankful for the QUICK response but a bit annoyed that I wasn't given the heads up.
Glad i found this i experienced the same thing
hi all, I wish I had found this post on Sunday whilst I was experiencing giving birth to an alien form 3 days after my procedure. I also have a funny smell and have been told not to have hot baths, use tampons or have sex. Thank God it's not just me
I'm so sorry your doctors didn't even say anything about the tissue part of the discharge. Mine made sure to keep me well informed, but it's hard to pay attention when you're being probed like that.
She DID say something along the lines of, "when it happens, don't freak out, that's not your cervix falling out!" Well, i freaked out a little anyway. Lucky for me, i found you. Thanks for the reassurance! :)
(Ironically, the capta they want me to type in is 'comfortable' LOL)
