It can take a while to completely go. You may also find the varicocele is still being filled by smaller veins around it. If this is the case it will still swell from time to time but will be far less swollen and painful.

I had an embolisation a few days ago. It is too early to conclude yet if it was a success or not. But so far it feels good. I don't feel my veign (vena spermatica) in my sack pumping full when I put pressure on my lungs anymore. It really feels like my left ball is cooler; a feeling that is very pleasant. Now I actually notice how warm the left side always was. No sweat on the left side of my boxer short (like I always had). Overal: a very good feeling. I really don't see any benefit on varicocelectomy (whether its saw palmetto or it's microsurgery) over this radiologic embolisation. For me, so far, I carefully can conclude it was a success. The day after my treatment I was working again. The veign is still noticably wider than the right, but I believe it shrinks only after a month.

Going to see my gp about what i believe to be a left sided varicocele (bag of worms feeling) a dull ache and decreased testicular size. Not sure how long I've had it for only noticed the decrease testicle size a few days ago when pain started. I was wondering if anyone else with these symptoms had an increase in testicle size back to the normal size after embolization.

Yeah it helped me. Took a while to rebound though. I had a grade 3. The embolization itself is painless and fairly quick. Not had any problems since.

I had embolization after a failed surgery. It massively improved my varicocele and I have a good count. The procedure is also pretty easy I was back at work after only a few days.

Are there any serious dangers with embolization? I can't find any serious complications in the scientific literature, but my urologist seems to think the risks outweigh the potential benefits. I can't tell if he is too lazy to help me or if he is correct. I'm 21 and have a grade 3 varicocele with pressure and pain. I want to take care of this while I'm early

I had an embolization when I was 20 about 8 years ago. My urologist actually recommended it. I was told there were risks with both surgery and embolization but there were fewer serious risks with embolization as there is no danger of accidentlly cutting the testicular artery. Which can be a serious complication of surgery causing testicular atrophy. Hope this has helped.

I had an embolization on mine. Worked great. T levels rose from 200 to 700. I feel so much better everywhere including relief from the discomfort.

Just had embolization done two days ago on a grade 3 varicocele. Procedure was a little uncomfortable but painless, took about an hour. It's still a bit sore where the coils were put in and the varicocele has already decreased in size.

I had a varicocele ligation on the left side about 8 months ago which came back so I had an embolization on Monday (today is Saturday). I felt better but now feeling kind of lethargic but might be from just being tired. The vein is definitely much less diolated, but I can still feel it. Hopefully it will continue to shrink and go away. I was just wondering how long after the surgery you waited to do heavy lifting or exercise. Also how long till you felt good enough to have sex.

I went back to the gym after 5 days, haven't had any problems. Been almost 2 weeks since the embolization and the vein is still somewhat dilated, hoping it continues to go down. Didn't feel lethargic at all though?

Hi!
Great news! I might have to do it in Sydney as well. Can you give me the name of the doctor who did it, and the approximate costs please? I am coming from France but I don't have the time to do it there.
Thanks!
