Sorry, I see your post was over a year ago but sounds like exactly like what I feel. What a relief yet sad for our poor posture-ism. You must be taking care of everyone else before yourself just as I do. Xo and thank you again.

I have gotten this for years also! Very strange sensation, but mine does not last long or have any following symptoms! I think it's a pinched nerve or something when it happens, but it's scary!

Hi All,

I just wanted to put this out there in case this helps ease the anxiety of someone else and keep you from the worrying and sleepless nights that I experienced. One day while just sitting at my desk in my office I experienced a sharp pain in my temple. It felt like a “pop” and needless to say, it scared the heck out of me! The next day I had some face tingling. The day after that, the tinging was gone from my face, but I had some numbness near my jaw. Three days later and scared out of my mind, I went to the ER to get a CT scan. No aneurisms or vascular abnormalities. Great news, right!? The problem is that for the next seven weeks, I would experience intermittent pain and pressure in my temples (worse in the afternoon), but it didn’t feel like a “headache”. After starting to experience some jaw pain, I put it together that it was most likely my bottom wisdom teeth. I had had the top two removed when I was much younger, but the bottom two stayed in and I always fought the recommendation of their removal. The jaw and the temporalis muscle share the same nerve, the trigeminal nerve. When my jaw would hurt and my head would hurt at the same time, I wasn’t worried. The worry came from the times when my head hurt, but the jaw wasn’t hurting. It can be very scary. Long story short, I got the wisdom teeth pulled and, despite the lengthy healing process of this surgery itself, I have not experienced any of these symptoms again. I highly recommend anyone dealing with similar issues to evaluate whether or not your wisdom teeth have become impacted like mine did and get them removed. If I hadn’t had the CT scan I would have been even more worried. Moral of the story… wisdom teeth can cause head pain, pressure, and temporalis muscle popping sensations WITHOUT also causing tooth or jaw pain. Hope this helps someone. God Bless!

I have been having popping in the back of my head about halfway up from the neck. It is not painful, but i startles me and i jump. I can feel it in my ear which i do not have good hearing in. It sounds like if you hit a piece of steel with a hammer. Went to the doctors and all i got was that is weird and a x-ray which prove nothing, just out a lot of money. It kind of feels like a little bubble of air before the loud sound. Sure would like a solution.

42 years old discovered cannabis (3 years ago)- symptoms cured almost instant.... That said it is not a cure - the issue was a cerebral spinal fluid leak. Tall tell sign of this problem is it feels better if you lay down then when you stand. It is also painful between the shoulder blades and another symptom is leaking out nose, eye or back of throat and can have a metal taste. Cannabis decreased the inflammation and allowed the fluid to flow (it's like having no fluid in a battery - no electric current able to flow. ). This also reduced pressure in optic nerve and improved my hearing as well. That said these symptoms come back but can be treated again. There is a cure by taking your own blood and the doctor injects it into your spinal fluid and your blood if it takes will seal the spot. People and doctors say it is really rare but IMHO it is way to common - car accidents, head trauma such as concussions and even what they call spontaneous leak. When you have a leak my first things to go (my tells are) loss of emotional control, then swearing and then fine motor control loss. This is mostly from the positive pressure however HELL will result when you have low pressure .... Incredible pain your brain feels like it is being pulled through your back side. The neg pressure for me sends me to the hospital all the time and now remember you have to replenish the fluid and push everything back up and you can only do that on your back and for me from the hospital bed. It took me Seven years of persistent pestering of the family doctor who refused to issue a script because of his beliefs and for me it was so bad it was going to be try pot or my life was going to stop - suicide was my last option after that. I pray this helps atleast one person. With cannabis I can function normally and with clarity (better than without) and prior to that I was taking 30 pills a day and I am now down to two! Oh and no more needles in my head to freeze my occipital nerve .... The other thing that I can recommend is kratom as an alternative .... I hope this helps!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this post. It's nature certainly is not graphic. Interpreting it as such is beyond stupid. The fact that someone complained that this post was graphic - horribly offends me. I too am entitled not to be offended. I demand that something be done about this.

I often look down when I walk, could this have anything to do with postures? It came naturally, for it's hard for me to look up while walking. I experienced this pop for years and I am still a child. My father says it might be a vibration when something pops in my head, but I doubt it.
