I think one of my good friends might have turrets because the other day, he was at my place and he started twitching his head and arms, then he started grunting, rolling his eyes and yelling out names of gods. It was really scary.
He has been twitching before for a few month & saw a doc about it, though he said it was stress. But the grunting and calling out is new.

Do you know what it might be, my friends and i are worried for him.

thanx
For about a yera now I have realized that I have had a mild ticking problem in my neck, I guess you could call it "neck stretching" and I have no clue why I do it. At first I remember doing itto help ease my sore neck from sports, but I still have the tick even now. I don't even reealize im doing it sometimes, and it comes and goes every so often. I am 15 years old, so ive had this since i was i was 14 about. I'm not sure if this this jst something normal, or actually problem.
Ive been worried about my little 6year old brother. Ever since school started and he only started 1st grade. The teachers put so much pressure on the kids now and expect them to know everything at that age and they pile homework on them and my brother does not get done for a good half hour. Not too long ago my mother and I have recently seen that my brother is constantly twitching (shaking) his hands and complains that his arms are itchy but on the inside not the outside. Im not sure if this mite be turrets because its every few minutes maybe every 5minutes or so he'll twich his hands. Please someone get back to me im beyond worried about him. Its not fair for a kid this young to have something like this because of school.
people with terrets are really foul mouthed and are silly
what is this
i have a 10 month old baby who shivers like she gets a chill at least once a day is that normal?
i think that if you have this disease you twitch..then you swear..ha
My step-son has a constant cough. The one that you make when you are trying to clear your throat. When its bad he will do this 30-45 times an hour. Sometimes they get bad and his entire body will shake badly. I have taken him to the doctor for the cough, the doctor prescribed cough medicine and a humidfier. He is not having a hard time breathing nor does he haveanything abnormal with his throat. His father's family has a history of turrets. has anyone heard of a similar instance? He never has any outbursts and or irregular behavior. It is just the constant coughs one after the other.

I think I have something wrong with me. I have had these tics for many years now and they seem to be getting worse. What should I do?

Can you explain what kind of tics you’re experiencing? When do they usually happen? Can you control them?

Finding a right doctor who has an experience in Tourettes is actually very hard. Like Miia said above, any MD and neurologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, developmental pediatricians, and psychologists should be able to diagnose it but not so many of them have the skills in dealing with Tourette’s. Some people may have more luck with neurologists while others can run into psychiatrists who know how to treat Tourett’s.

You may even try to find a movement disorder specialists but it wouldn’t be so wise to be treated with a doctor who doesn’t have much experience in Tourette’s. This can be just a waist of time for you. You should ask questions about doctors who are known to have experience and success.

If you chose a doctor who is teaching and has residents in his group, you may very well decide to see one of the residents, which means you will be probably under the main doctor’s surveillance.
The goal of treating Tourettes syndrome is not to eliminate the tics because there is no cure for this disorder. However, it is manageable to suppress tics and learn a person with the disorder to cope with their tics and function like any other individual.
When was the first time you developed tics? How old were you then?
go see doctor smarts

I have had TS since I was a kid and like many sufferers, stressful times (like high school, college, getting maried, etc) brought on the condition even more.
Here is what I do to help keep myself under control: When I feel a verbal outburst coming on, I clear my throat- it usually heads it off and most people don't really notice, or just think you clear your throat a lot- neither of which cause any real increase in the social tension that sets some of us off.
When I am having a lot of physical tics (or when I want to avoid them starting) I do what has been dubbed by my family as "rubby-time" (humor helps releive that social tension part). Basically, I find something silky and rub it between my two fingers. Lining of jackets, or even the tag on my shirt in a pinch work great for me. It seems like this small physical activity distracts my brain enough to reduce or prevent the tics and it is discreet enough that most people do not notice it.
I have been using these tactics successfully for years (I have the worn out shirt tags to prove it) and hope they help some of you cope.
