I think its all to do with dentistry, they can now seal your gums with some stuff to stop tooth decay. This causes pressure and stops everything moving causing a build up of tension.

DOES THE PRESSURE FEEL LIKE YOUR HEAD IS GOING TO EXPLODE ALMOST LIKE YOUR UNDER WATER BUT NOT? VERY INTENSE LIKE PRESSURE? JUST IN YOUR EARS? ARE YOU CONVINCED THIS IS YOUR EARS ONLY AND NOTHING ELSE? WELL I WAS TOO AFTER 4500.00, 5 DOCTORS, SEVERAL APPTS AND A SLU OF non helpful drugs and remedies - I FOUND OUT THROUGH THE INTERNET :NOT THE DOCTORS , THAT WHAT I HAVE IS TMJ- I SHRUGGED IT OFF AT FIRST AND SAID NO ITS MY EARS, AND AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH- I FOUND OUT THAT YOUR JAW JOINTS AND EARS ARE CONNECTED- BEFORE BEING DEAD SET THAT THIS IS AN EAR INFECTION PLEASE RESEARCH TMJ- THE PAIN YOU ARE FEELING IS REFFERED PAIN AND YOU NEED A NEURO-MUSCULAR DENTIST AND OR CHIROPRACTOR. -IT WILL TAKE YOU ALOT OF MONEY AND VERY LONG TIME TO FIGURE THIS OUT IF YOU DONT RESEARCH TMJ

What type of pillow are you sleeping on? Too firm a pillow my result in too much pressure being applied to the ear throughout the night. I would suggest a natural option, all wool pillow or shredded latex which can be manipulated and will help mitigate some of the humidity/pressure while you rest.

I have the same problem. I am going into my 5th straight month of constant pressure in my right ear. Ive seen 2 mds, 2 EENT and 1 chiropractor. I also had hearing tests and a CT. The mds have found nothing yet the pressure is contant. Ive tried antibiotics, decongestants, steroids, oils, ear flushes, netti pot, gargles etc. nothing is working. Im anxious over it and having difficulty sleeping. There is no official dx and no help. Its very, very frustrating. If anyone has another suggestion, i would really appreciate it. Im praying it goes away.

Actually that's not true I have found out that if you lay your ear on a heating pad it helps relieve the pressure. But so far that's all I found. I put my ear on one last night when it was really bothering me and within minutes it felt better!

Pressure in your ear is called aural fullness. I have seen this described as fullness in the ear as opposed to stuffiness which is more commonly associated with cold/allergy. There are many causes of fullness and you would probably need to continue working with your ENT to get this identified and resolved. Possible causes from my research include: Meniere’s disease, impacted ear wax, Acoustic Neuroma, Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, Superior canal dehiscence, Labrynthitis etc.. I would think that ear wax build up would be identified easily by your Dr. so you may have one of the other conditions. I happen to have one of the less common causes of fullness called Superior Canal Dehiscence so I will provide more info on this below. For me this fullness has been constant for about 4 years now. Superior canal dehiscence can have one or more of the following symptoms and based on my research, different people have a very different mix of symptoms with sometimes just one of these.

If you have one or more of the following you may have Superior Canal Dehiscence
- Fullness/pressure in your ear
- Hearing your own voice loudly in your ear with some distortion, may also hear heartbeat, eye movements.
- Cronic imbalance/dizziness/unsteadiness
- Sound induced dizziness
- Sensitivity to loud noises (like people clapping)
- High pitch ringing

Test for this include a CT scan of ear and or VEMP test, if anyone would care to know more just let me know.
