hi im 20 years old .. i am sexually active an for a while now i have a pimple on one of my lower vagina lip with what seems to be puss in it, i'm scared cause it really hurts when i walk according to if my underwear is tight and according to how i sit. i would really like to know what it could be an if its serious that i should go to a doctor. :'(
Do you shave or wax? And did the pimple emerge out of the blue? In other words, were you fine one day then discover the pimple the next? Could be a boil. But I'd need more info.
If it IS a boil, use moist, warm compresses as much as possible, keep the area clean, do NOT wear tight pants, use cotton underwear and expect to wait two weeks for it to go away. It will get larger first, come to a (white) head with maybe a black spot in it, and pop on its own. Do not try to pop it yourself. You could push the infection into your bloodstream.
I had two of them this winter - first time ever. I am quite sure, that in my case, it was from a razor infected with something - maybe staph. It can also be caused by an ingrown hair My GYN told me to stop shaving. I have a hard time not shaving, so I make sure that I use clean razors every time. I even go the extra mile and make sure I soak the razor in 70% alcohol for 20 minutes. Haven't had another one since. They ARE painful and, sexually, you have to work around it. You may want to try to cover it with a sterile bandage, especially when it begins to ooze.
The moist compresses draw the infection out faster.
