Hello,
I’ve been having problems with overactive bladder and urinary incontinence for several years now and I’ve already went through behavioral training and have been on Detrol for two years now. The problem is, Detrol is making my mouth so dry, my teeth are starting to suffer.
I have an appointment with my urologist next week and I’ve been researching alternatives to Detrol - it seems that Toviaz or Vesicare are most commonly prescribed ones. If anyone on here is currently or was in the past on Toviaz or Vesicare, what was your experience?
Hi,
I was on Vesicare for two years for urinary incontinence and it worked pretty well - the only side effect I had was constipation when I first started taking it, but it wasn't anything that wasn't easily manageable with additional dietary fiber. But, at the two year mark Vesicare just stopped working for me - all the symptoms were back and I went back to bathroom trips every 5 minutes. My urologist told me it happens to some people, so he switched me to Toviaz.
It took it about a week to become effective, but I feel now like it has far more side effects than Vesicare, unfortunately including dry mouth. I didn't have that issue on Vesicare, so it might work similar for you.
