i put my g/f first almost all the time... i'm not convinced she always puts me first. at least it's always first when it's convenient for her, and heaven forbid i put someone else first that night... oh my.
most of my decisions are based on what would make her, then i, happy. at some point i'm gonna have to put i before her, on a few more occasions.

In all seriousness, I think a sense of humor is very important in a relationship. Also little things, like a back scratch, foot rub, putting the coffee pot on timer.

I would have to say finding someone that complements you, whose strengths support your weaknesses, and vice versa. Some one who completes you, similar interestes (not necessarly the same).
