Okay. So a while back over the summer me and this guy did a bunch of things. He fingered me and it was super rough! I didn't bleed or anything, but i was wondering if he could've broke through my hymen?
Me and my current boyfriend are going to try to have sex but I'm scared that it'll hurt a lot. But then again I'm wondering if it will hurt at all!
I'm super confused about what to look for to see if my hymen was broken at all!
HELP! :!:

hey havocgirl11,
having sex for the first time creates so many emotions and is very exciting. there is a possibility that your guy may have broken your hymen while fingering you. if you have ever used a tampon, or had anything else inside your vagina it could have borken. typically when this happens it causes a woman to bleed. there is no way to physically tell if you have broken your hyman or not, exept for blood.
you may experience pain when having sex with your boyfriend if this is your first time. the best thing to do is to be as relaxed as possible. Although, you may be very anxious to do it, take your time- while guys can get an erection quickly and be ready to go, women's bodies take a bit longer to get ready for intercouse. We have to get wet and produce enough lubricant from our vaginas for the penis to slide in with ease. With having said this, TAKE YOUR TIME to get there. You might want to pick up some KY Jelly at the supermarket to put on your vagina and on his penis to make is more wet. I will warn you though, because the first time comes with so many emotions, it is hard for many girls to get really wet the first time because of our nerves! Its natural. Be sure that you TRUST your guy and go at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Also, it is important to use a condom... not to be all motherly on you, but a pregnancy would be really scary and an STD would be really bad too.
it's also not a bad idea to discuss what you are comfortable with and what you're NOT comfortable before hand... ( not right before, but a few days or something) this way you can have fun and know what to expect!
have fun sweetie and be safe!

Thank you so much for the advice. And yes I have used certain toys. I've also been using tampons since I was 11. I just wonder...is it possible that I broke through my hymen while I was on my period?
My nerves are kicked into high gear!
I've talked to him about how I feel and he feels the same :]
Thanks so much for caring though, it really does help

you know what, the sex ed you get in school is so narrow and generalized. There's a really high chance that you might not have had a hymen to start with. The hymen is just a little bit of extra tissue left over from when a baby develops in the womb, and certainly it's true that a lot of women are not born with them. Plus a lot of the time a kid might break her hymen just horsing around. I think sex ed stuff just says "The first time you have sex your hymen will break and you will bleed" but if that were true then none of us would have to be confused about it.
There is a way to look for your hymen using a mirror, but I'm not really sure what it would look like, but if playing with toys doesn't hurt then it might not matter. But I strongly second using lube, a water based one preferably, when you decide to have sex
