Hello I'm 16 years old and have had this condition for 1 year. I dont know how it started but its affecting my life. I can't enjoy life as I use to. Thats how much its having a impact on my life.
Whenever I get hot from exercise, eat spicy food, angry, nervous, embarrased, its like I'm getting poked by needles everywhere on my body, it happens on my back, chest, arms, hands and sometimes my scalp. The pain lasts for like a couple of minutes.
I can't take this any longer. Its too painful and its ruining my life. I will start college and I don't want to experience pain as it may potentially affect my study life. I have went to the GP once and all she gave me was Cetirizine (anti histamine) and shampoo. DIDNT EVEN WORK.
Please, anyone, if you know or have had this please tell me I'm begining to lose hope. Thank you for reading :'(

I've had the same thing for years. If I get hot, start to sweat, the pins and needles start. I am not left-handed and I work out all year. I've mentioned it to a couple doctors over the years - they have called it "paresthesia" - which is a nerve sending a signal saying it's irritated. I was told that it would probably go away. It didn't. Some doctors say it's a product I'm using but I have been using totally organic products for a long time. Others say to use an antihistamine - that does not work. I did have one say that she thought it could have something to do with nitric oxide. We were talking about several things and I forgot to go back and ask what the deal was (with nitric oxide) but I forgot. Unfortunately, I never went back to that doctor - probably need to do more research on that. Someone also suggested that I had a B12 deficiency because I'm vegetarian (mostly vegan); however, I take a B-12 supplement and my numbers are never so low that a doctor has been concerned. Have been looking for an explanation for year so hope someone will get on here and share it...

Its a sweating thing I believe. Had this problem 20+ years ago after working in a refrigerated warehouse for 2 years. Went to doctors and specialists for 4 years and got no answers. Went away after i had to help my family move, after days of working hard. I just moved to a dry climate last year and its come back. Its so painful like electricity through all my nerves. Its never been this bad! Im thinking we need a steam room?
Yes! I am so happy I found this post! Okay, I just finished reading all three pages and I too have this exact issue. My painful pins and needles began on October 11ish, right when the weather got colder where I live. Ever since then, I cannot exercise or even talk to someone new. The doctor I visited told me that I had a pinched nerve, which could be true, but I highly doubt. What I initially thought was that I had hypothyroidism, since the painful itch would begin where the thyroid sits on my neck. I am actively trying to find a solution right now, but the truth is, I believe that this is just a symptom of cold weather.
Yeah I’m 16 too. I’m tall and have back pains so I crack my back yo relive it. Could be caused from that. the doctor doesn’t think it is any type of virus. It only happens when I am hot, After exercising or when I cough so possibly when I put strain on my body.
Huh, I'm short, but I have an interesting thing to share with you all; I began vacuuming the house and it began itching, but I continued anyway, and about 3 minutes after intense itching/pain thing, it disappeared and I began to sweat normally. No more itching/pain thing afterwards until my body cooled back down again. Therefore, I think this is a sweat gland issue. I will come back soon to let you all know how things are going!
I truly suspect this to be a sweating issue - that our symptoms are being caused because of the cold weather, in which it becomes drier, causing our skin to clog up. When our body gets hot, it attempts to relieve the internal heat by sweating, but because our skin is 'locked', it begins to prick to force it to open. Does anyone have the ability to sit in a sauna or something similar to test how their body reacts?
The same thing is happening to me whenever I get warm I fell millions of needles stabbing into me all over my body and it hurts like hell I don't know what to do sometimes the pain gets so bad that I want to kill my self. Please help
Hi, my name is Brendan. I’m 21 years old and this started when I was in highschool. For me, after I graduated and became less active it went away. Then about 6 months ago I started working out and in the past month it has came back stronger than ever and I can’t even workout now. The pins and needles are so bad, it’s the worst 2-5 minutes of my life every time it happens. No doctor knows what’s going on from the looks of the comments and my doctor who prescribed me Benadryl, which didn’t work. If I’m playing the VR or get nervous, or just increase my heart rate I have to stop what I’m doing and kinda get away from people if I’m around a group. Sometimes I even have to tell my girlfriend to start scratching me. She knows what’s going on but she dosent know the excruciating pain and how much she helps me when she starts scratching. I wish everyone the best of luck and have a merry Christmas!
Hey Brandon, I'm really sorry to hear your troubles with this itching problem. I know it isn't much, but know that there are many of us out here who suffer from the exact same problem!
Just like you, I can no longer work out either, for any small amount of physical exertion will cause the worst and 'electric-like' pain ever. But, I did notice that if you perservere and push through the pain (which can sometimes get ultra bad), your body will open the sweat glands and you will begin sweating like normal again! The itch slowly goes away, but here's the kicker - your body will close the glands again, so this process has to be repeated constantly.
As for a permanent fix, I have yet to come across anyone who has found one, and unfortunately, no doctor I have visited seems to even know what is the cause of this! They believe it to be a pinched nerve, but I don't think it is.
Just know, I am going to keep looking for a solution for all of us here so we can live normally again!
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!
First of all, please don't kill yourself! Know that we are a team right now - there are many people just like you who suffer from this, including me!
What we must do is share as much details from one another as possible until we can determine some common denominators to figure out the source of this issue, which will hopefully pin us a solution!
Cheers!
The only thing I found to help keep the symptoms from starting is my propranolol I was prescribed for social anxiety but it's actually a blood pressure medication but I'm also looking for a answer to stop it all together
I also feel weak or dizzy sometimes after the pain subsides
I'm a 17 year old male, who unfortunately ate something which translated to me feeling unwell and ultimately having diarrhoea, and as Id expect I heat up quite a bit since usually pain of this calibre tends to make you feel very hot. It was only last month that I started getting this odd sensation around my entire upper body as a result of feeling warm. Just to be clear, I don't take any medication and don't (dont think so anyway) believe to have any underlying health conditions. I thought that this strong prickly feeling would be a one off, since I hadn't experienced such an odd sensation before. It was only a couple of days layers whereby I'd go out to a retail outlet, which I tend to do with my parents on the weekend. It's only when I walked into a warm department store that about 10 minutes in of simply browsing the place I felt warm, as I usually do since I'm a regular customer there and it's always war. However moments later of that visit, this tingling sensation started around my head and face, then it grew in my lower back, then the feeling was in my abdomen also! I couldn't have felt more uncomfortable, but at the same time very distressed and upset since this is just plain frustrating.
What I have found is that it would alleviate and disappear after around 5-10 mins. My first concern when this sensation came along was whether this was nerve related, which did nothing but exacerbate my stress, subsequently exacerbating that tingling/prickling sensation. Another interesting thing to note is that tingling is not as far as I know, accompanied by a rash (in my eyes crossing out prickly hear as the cause).
Its also worth mentioning that this sensation only comes along between the moment im warm and the moment I sweat, not before or after. The moment my upper body sweats is the moment the severe prickly sensation fades away. The fact I have to exercise and break a sweat to get rid of such an uncomfortable sensation is beyond me and is having a negative impact on my life.
My question if anyone has read up to here is whether what I'm describing can be nerve related whatsoever. The reason being because I have searched about this left, right and centre and either it's prickly heat or chronilergic urticaria, the latter of which seemed promising, until, again, it said that the tingling should be wccompanied by red weald/rashes etc, which doesn't appear, UNLESS I ITCH, in which my entire upper body can be flooded with red patches of skin.
