Unfortunatley the answer for me was to stop drinking. I had pain and bleeding and had self diagnosed myself with a hemmorhoid. Through experimenting with not drinking I realized that the bleeding and pain were immediately relieved with abstinence. I've been a heavy drinker for years now and I think this is probably a fortunate realization for me. Seeing large amounts of blood in the stool after drinking is scary and eye opening. So hopefully I can contain my urge to drink, and if not bloody stool is always a strong incentive.

Today, something happened that totally freaked me out. The worst bleeding ever.
My personal horror story goes like this..
I was attending to the second day of a two day seminar, which had a 'gala dinner' the night before. There was, of course, an alcohol serving. I had four glasses of red wine and a beer. This morning the stool was black. This is 'normal' for me after having red wine. So, all looked as usual.
I took a painkiller (ibuprofen) before leaving home, just trying to prevent the inevitable - hangover.
Noon passed, had a lunch and a cup of coffee. In the afternoon, came the time to let that coffee out, went to a bathroom.
I was sitting relaxed on the toilet and just after drying out I noticed that the toilet paper had some blood on in. I thought I had been hasty in the morning - I have a persistent (external) haemorrhoid which occasionally gives a blood sample, but that didn't happen this morning..?
I sweeped again and the paper got soaking wet - of blood. And another pad of paper. And another.. At this point I was freaking out. Tried to stay calm.
The blood really smelled like blood. It was dark red and literally all over the place. After fourth blood soaked paper pad I decided not to wait for it to end - at that point it seemed endless. I took a bunch of toilet paper and stuck it in my ass and decided to take a taxi - to home or the nearest hospital. I chose home.
After I got there the bleeding was gone. No blood. Nothing. Nowhere. Now, two hours after, nothing. I'm starting to relax now.
This is most definitely caused by alcohol. Therefore I'll never drink again. Also I'll never go to the bathroom again. I may have to stop eating too.
Oh no I won't, I'm just kidding
There was a post from a guest user that said
This is interesting since I'm a 'wannabe-bodybuilder' (read: trying hard to gain muscle..) and my nutrition is rich of protein, vitamins and minerals mentioned here, and also including fiber.
According to this I'm just tripping.. :)
Well, next time this happens, I'll definitely take the taxi and head to the doctors.

I had this too and got it checked out. I had eaten too much bread and starchy foods combined with drinking. When I am out drinking or on holiday I tend to eat more breads, pasta and starchy foods.
My doctors view was..Bleeding is either hard rough stools, from diet (eat more veg and fruit and fibre). Hydration and irritation from the alcohol similar to IBS or, something serious!! If you have dark red blood in your stools see your doctor NOW, if you have light red blood and its not to much in volume make an appointment.
I would also say drink more water eat more fruit make sure red meat is on the menu for B vits if you like a drink. Open your eyes and admit you like a few, dont we all. With fun comes a cost, reduce it by being sensible. Drink water before and after a night of drinking. Eat well, because you owe yourself that bleeding, or not...!! "I dont like the taste of healthy food" is a pathetic lazy excuse. There are healthy foods for everyones taste out there. Just get off your ass and find the ones you like.. :-)
What a pro said in reference to possible ulcers too:
About the Connection Between Drinking Alcohol and Rectal Bleeding
By Linda Hinkle,
Rectal bleeding, the passing of blood through the anus, can be caused by many different diseases and conditions. Although it isn't one of the most common causes, there is some connection between drinking alcohol and rectal bleeding. For that reason, anyone who consumes alcohol on a regular basis needs to understand the effect it can have on rectal bleeding.
Features
A major connection between alcohol and rectal bleeding is actually a result of the connection between alcohol and peptic ulcers. Consumption of alcohol can lead to peptic ulcers which in turn can cause rectal bleeding. Peptic ulcers are open sores on the lining of the upper small intestine, esophagus or stomach. The ulcers may bleed and when they do, it may show up as black, tarry stools or dark blood in the stool.
Identification
Burning pain is the most common symptom of peptic ulcers. The pain occurs when stomach acid comes in contact with the open sores and is usually worse when the stomach is empty. The pain can occur anywhere from the breastbone to the navel and may last only a few minutes or several hours. It may come and go over a period of a few days or weeks. Nighttime flare-ups of pain are also common. Less common but more severe symptoms of peptic ulcers include vomiting blood, nausea, chest pain, unexplained weight loss and dark blood in stools or black, tarry stools.
Significance
Alcohol can aggravate and erode the mucous lining of the stomach. As a result, an increased amount of stomach acid is produced. However, it is not certain whether excessive consumption of alcohol is a lone cause of peptic ulcers or if a combination of factors must be present for the sores to develop. Other contributing factors may include medications and the H. pylori bacteria.
Considerations
For many years the common assumption was that peptic ulcers developed as a result of lifestyle. Factors such as excessive consumption of alcohol, stress and diet were considered to be some of the main causes of the ulcers. However, experts now believe that most ulcers are caused by bacterial infections or medications. It should also be noted that peptic ulcers in general are uncommon and can usually be treated successfully in a matter of weeks.
Warning
Excessive use of alcohol also increases the risk of developing colorectal cancer, another cause of rectal bleeding. Because this cancer is very serious, any rectal bleeding should be investigated to determine its origin.

That is the simple explanation of how alcohol consumption results in hemorrhoids and their related bloody discharge.

I am happy to see others with the same issue. after many years of suffering I have narrowed it down to Alchohol, and now I am looking for a solution other than quitting, never was a quitter. ;)
I intend to have a Dr. look at my liver, I drank (very moderately) for many years before the bleeding started, but as I get older I may have damaged my liver and the bleading is a symptom of this. I do take b12 vitamins and quit eating beef about 2 years ago. so will experiment with that, also I take an excedrine with any alchohol so that I do not get a headache, and maybe this is related with the thinned blood. ;-) or liver damage.

Im a 23 yer old male and have always had light bleeding after a big night out i also never get hung over if that has anything to do with this, but nothing that wasn't gone after 1 piece of toilet paper, but last night i had a massive outing in London 100-150 pounds of drinks for myself, and today after i woke up it was the usual no hang over and needing to use the bathroom (my BM are always runny or getting close to diarrhea after big nights) and it was much heavier than i have ever experienced and got incredibly worried.
Definately agree that it has something to do with alchohol and i plan to get it checked out when i get back home but thats not for another 9 weeks so for now im going to cut back on drinking and take it slower while im here and see if it helps :)
